How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewEverything and it just feel like you live there. Fan Bed Location I’ll be definitely staying here again for next year hopefully
No lights once you enter the building so maybe that could be improvement? No plug for kitchen sink and bathroom sink but that can be fixed if possible Can’t think of anything else so that’s only thing I can say

Verified reviewStaying with Ta’ Marta Lodge was a pleasure. The location was perfect and accessible. I like the place. It has a traditional design & is neat.
The only problem is the internet we can't access. I can even use my own data, maybe because of the reception.

Verified reviewNice location in the old town. Clean.
Attention to details-10 small towels but 0 big. Dolce gusto machine but no capsules. Oven but no baking tray… it has a lot of potential just to iron these details to make it more comfortable.

Verified reviewGreat location, in the heart of the old town few meters from St George Square. Room was ready a couple of hours earlier at arrival, all well organized. Nice decor, beautiful antique type of lamps and furniture at the arrival hall and the room.
The mattress of the big bed was too stiff for us , every morning one of us woke up with bit of back pain. The air conditioning is visibly unable to cool down the room even when we kept the balcony closed during the day, part of the room also gets the heat accumulating during the day from the rooftop, the balcony side gets all the afternoon sunshine which doesn't help either , I guess in the cooler season is enough but not in the summer, probably needs an upgrade. We could have used a microwave oven, but we used the stove to heat the milk so it was fine.

Verified reviewLocation is great, room size is great and that is where the good bits end
Electrics - are really bad, although they look finished, all lights and lamps are hung by bare wires, sockets not properly mounted, junction box above the shower with wires exposed. In truth, all the electrics need to be redone otherwise someone will be killed. Bathroom fittings - towel holder not fixed, toilet seat broken, sink plug blocks up, soap dispenser cup superglued to the shelf so can not put any thing, towels provided are just hand towels, no good if you have a shower, (which is a hazard in itself). Kitchen - would had been nice if some basics were provided like more than the bare minimum crockery and cutlery, may be one tea or coffee perhaps. Wifi worked for 10 minutes then was never seen again.

Verified reviewThe central location was very practical. The apartment is in the cellar of an old traditional town house so has bags of character and has been very carefully restored. As it is a cellar it stayed cool despite high outside temperatures, I didnt need to use the air con but found the fan very helpful. Having a washing machine was a real bonus I stayed 12 nights. When I had requests from the owners they were very responsive and helpful. We had a water outage in Victoria one day for about half a day and they brought me buckets of water for washing and toilet flush. The apartment is spacious and equipped with the things you need for a stay, very comfy sofa !
The flip side of the cellar being cool was that it was very dark. You need the lights on all the time whilst in the house, there is a very tiny enclosed courtyard with cafe style table and chairs which was lovely for coffee and drying washing but not comfortable to sit long. The Apartment feels damp. The electrics are not all working and the light switches are in unusual places. The internet was very temperamental it only worked if I was in the courtyard or sometimes in the kitchen and often simply there was no connection. I slso had no phone signal most of the time and had to go outside the Apartment to get a signal which was rather annoying. By far the biggest negative however was the noise of the neighbours. The property is in the middle of a residential area and what sound to be a multigenerational family live upstairs/ next door. There was a lot of yelling especially at weekends when it sounded like grandparents were there. It seemed angry and aggressive and was very unpleasant. If you want to be in the property during the day to avoid the heat like I did then this was going on in the background.

Verified reviewApartment was beautifully decorated. WiFi was good for us. Good location with a variety of restaurants and good for shopping.
There were two sets of sheer curtains. One was separating the bedroom and living area and one over a glass set of doors to exit to the patio which you could not use because of dirt and dust on bistro set. The sheers covering those doors afforded us no privacy to another set of glass doors in a reception area. True drapes or curtains are needed there, not sheers. People were peeking through into our unit. We don't know who was renting or living upstairs but every morning, and sometimes during the day, and at night there was yelling, fighting, screaming and playing the TV too loud, scraping chairs or moving furniture across the floor. It was deafening. We were terribly disturbed by this activity. Short on kitchen facilities, no napkins or paper towels. No kitchen linen for drying dishes.

Small external court with table unaccessible, because of dust.

Verified reviewClean comfortable base with character to explore the island. Set in the old part of town so plenty to see locally as well. Parking near could be difficult at busy times. Bus station not too far away & if walking the coast over 3 days like I did, it was ideal & fare only 2€ per journey. Owners very responsive throughout, a few issues occurred but soon rectified.

Verified reviewVery nice authentic apartment in old town. Fully equipped kitchen.
Apartment has no separate bedroom. There is no normal window, you have no view. Specific smell. Very strong perfume in wardrobe, we can't even use it. Wifi works only in the kitchen. Lack of information on how to use hot water (so first day we had only cold water).

Verified reviewThe flat is spacious, well-kept, and very, very clean. The location is smack in the historical centre of Victoria ( Rabat, right off St George square), in a narrow, picturesque alley. So bar, restaurants, souvenir shops are very near. And very near is the Citadel, too, with its interesting museums. The place was easy to find and clearly marked. Owners sounded nice and very polite. The small balcony was a lovely place for my morning coffee and croissant.
Unfortunately, I agree with whoever wrote that the kitchen should be better equipped ( at least a couple of soup plates and a wooden spoon). It is not a huge problem if you are there for a couple of days as I was. It could impact your stay if you are there for longer. There are no large towels in the bathroom, so bring your own, as I did. Wifi was very sketchy and most times did not work. This was the only really negative issue I experienced. It's really a shame as these are small things that can be easily fixed. Other than this, it's a truly lovely place, and I didn't find it half as noisy as some other reviewers described it.
