How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewOur stay at The 3Cities Auberge was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, Annett and Micheal welcomed us like old friends. They are genuine, warm, and incredibly thoughtful. Their generosity and impeccable attention to detail are exceptional… we were utterly spoilt! Thoughtful touches like gifts and handwritten notes made us feel truly special. They even got up at 3 am to see us off for an early flight…. a testament to their genuine care. The building itself is a beautifully restored historic treasure, brimming with character and charm, yet seamlessly blending modern comforts. The rooms are simply stunning: elegantly decorated, spotlessly clean, and thoughtfully equipped with everything you could wish for. The carefully curated furniture and artwork add a refined touch, making every corner feel uniquely special. The view from the terrace is breathtaking, the perfect place to unwind and soak in the atmosphere. The location is nestled in an area steeped in history, with winding cobbled streets, stunning architecture, and a vibrant waterfront dotted with delightful restaurants. Annett and Micheal are beautiful souls who go above and beyond at every turn. They have created a sanctuary that feels luxurious, inviting, and unforgettable. Thank you both.

Verified reviewFrom the very first moment, we felt completely at home with Annett and Michael. Their beautiful townhouse is located in a very quiet, authentic neighborhood that also offers a surprising amount of culture and charm. You’ll find small shops, historic alleyways, and many great restaurants – all within just a few minutes’ walk. Everything you need is close by, and there’s always something to discover. At the same time, vibrant Valletta is just a stone’s throw away – yet you don’t hear a thing of the city’s noise. It’s the perfect combination of connection and peaceful retreat. The house itself is full of character and has been furnished with incredible love and attention to detail – stylish, warm, and full of charm. Every room tells its own story, and you can feel the passion that went into creating this space. This isn’t just a place to stay – it’s a temporary home with soul. Annett and Michael are truly exceptional hosts. Warm, thoughtful, and genuinely welcoming – it feels like visiting old friends. They go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable, and you can clearly see how much they care about what they do. We would have loved to stay longer – and we’ll definitely be back. Thank you both for this special experience!

Verified reviewMichael and Annett are the most wonderful, generous and responsive B&B hosts we have ever encountered, in an incredible, beautifully restored original building with bonus outdoor terraces and spectacular views of The 3 Cities old town. A 5 minute walk to the ferry and wonderful waterside restaurants and bars, or many of the key historical sites nearby. Within a day of being here we extended our stay as we could not envisage tearing ourselves away so soon. Breakfasts were varied and excellent and an opportunity for advice tailored to each guest on what to do in the area. The genuine care made our trip to Malta incredibly rewarding. Don’t stay in crowded Valletta or the soulless resorts when you can take a pleasant 15 minute ferry or bus ride and come back to sit in the sun by the water or have drinks on the terrace. Plus St Thomas Bay beach and bar are a short bus or drive away so go now!
Leaving!

Verified reviewAnnett and Michael’s beautiful house is spotlessly clean and we were able to relax after exploring the sights of Malta. We were served a lovely breakfast every morning that set us up for the day ahead. When we got lost in the dark, Annett kindly came and found us. We couldn’t have found any better accommodation for our first trip to Malta.

Verified reviewMichael and Annette were both such warm and friendly hosts. The property had everything we needed, from sunscreen to blankets so that we could get cosy on the rooftop. We had a wonderful time napping, reading and relaxing in the many nooks and crannies in the property. The complimentary drinks that they provided were also much appreciated. The room was comfortable and charming. Location of the property was excellent too, in a quiet area with plenty of amenities around. It was a good base for us to explore the whole of Malta. The ferry terminal to Valletta is just a few minutes’ walk away. We can’t sing enough praises of our time here. Thank you very much for a great stay!
We stayed for 4 nights here and would have loved spending even more time here so we could relax in the property.

Every morning, we were welcomed by 2 smiles and a delicious breakfast with fresh tasty muesli, bread, fruits, and other delicacies. Location is only 100 yards or so away from the ferry to Valletta and the marina, and the bus stop that can take you to the Valletta bus terminus. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and look forward to the next time! M&J

Verified reviewThe property is every bit as delightful as it appears in the photos, and has been extensively renovated very recently. It combines original charm with modern comforts such as the excellent shower and fast WiFi. The property is large and we were delighted to find a number of public areas - little reading rooms tucked away, a kitchenette with seating, and a rooftop area with fabulous views over Valletta, Cospicua and surrounding areas, complete with sun shading and loungers, ideal for relaxing with a few wines! However what really made our stay special was the fabulous friendly welcome from our hosts Michael and Annett. They were ready with helpful local knowledge and trip ideas and are just lovely and interesting people to chat to, almost like staying with old friends. This has absolutely set the bar for holiday accommodation, and we look forward to returning in the future.

Verified reviewBeautifully restored home with all the comforts of modern life. Located in local Maltese street not far from the marina with nice restaurants and local attractions. Hosts were fantastic, very welcoming and helpful booking taxi and advising on where to visit. Really was a home away from home. Lovely bedroom with fantastic bathroom. Towels and sheets changed regularly. Lovely garden on the rooftop to enjoy the wonderful views and a glass of wine catching up on the events of the day. A place to get a real feel of Malta and local traditions.
Breakfast could be more varied for longer stays. Noise from bells of local church a bit loud but thats the beauty of staying in a local neighbourhood.
