How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewA good sized apartment for 3 or 4 people, close to the centre of Marsaxlokk. First of all great contact with the owner, including immediately sending a PDF of a very comprehensive brochure. Everything is very well communicated so you feel secure that all will be ok on arrival , which it was. It's a very well equipped apartment, with nothing missing in the kitchen and a huge TV with Netflix provided. Also very clean. We were lucky that our visit included a Sunday so we could go to the market. The only downside of the apartment was the second bed was a bit lumpy, and Google maps kept sending us the wrong way up one way streets (which of course is nothing to do with the apartment).

Verified reviewA lovely clean apartment 5 minutes walk from the local restaurants, harbour and bus stops. Brandon is an excellent host who will be on hand if needed and if you hire a car it's probably the only area of town where parking is easy alongside or failing that the local free car park is a 2 minute walk. Would certainly stay again in the future.

Verified reviewFantastic facilities and complementary items. Everything you could need is there. Short walk to the harbour area with lots of restaurants and a bus stop is around the corner. The bus service is excellent and great value for money. Buses run regularly to Valletta from where there are routes to all other areas of the island and places of interest. St Thomas Bay in Marsaskala, the town just north of Marsaxlokk, is great for swimming.

Verified reviewThe place is truly amazing. Brandon, the host, has put a lot of thought and effort to make this apartment really nice for guests, even in the little details. It was also very well stocked with everything one can think of, and some we hadn't thought of, really going beyond our expectations. We can't recommend the place enough. We will certainly be going there again.
The place is well done and furnished. We didn't really mind this for a short stay, but perhaps in a long stay, the fact that once you enter the front door, you will not have natural light except from the bedrooms, is the only minus in a place with many pluses.

Verified reviewBeautifully decorated ground floor flat, spacious, clean. Helpful and communicative owner. Lots of information about Malta provided! Ten min walk to a supermarket (spar) and similar walk to sea front with cafes/bars etc. really sweet little town. We got bolts/ubers for around 5 euro to St peters Paul and Il Kalanka - about a five-ten min drive. We loved our stay and would highly recommend it! Nice views from bedrooms too. Amazing kitchen. Strong, free Aircon.
There isn't much natural light in the living area, but the bedrooms make up for this! The bedding could do with updating, not as soft or new as would want.

In the apartment everything is thought out to the smallest detail: there is even a socket adapter in case you forgot to take yours with you. A special word of appreciation goes to the host, who is a very hospitable and attentive person. Verified reviewMy recent stay in Marsaxlokk was nothing short of exceptional, thanks to this fantastic apartment! From the moment we arrived, our host went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. The apartment, situated on the ground floor, boasts two bedrooms and a bathroom. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, making it feel like a home away from home. The best part? A spacious car park right next to the apartment, making parking a breeze. Although, with the prime location, we often found ourselves conveniently parking right in front of the apartment. The tranquillity of the area was remarkable – a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. The host thoughtfully provided a booklet with a plethora of activities to explore in Marsaxlokk and throughout Malta, along with an impressive itinerary. This attention to detail truly set the tone for an unforgettable experience. The apartment itself was a haven of cleanliness and comfort. The beds were exceptionally cozy, and an abundance of towels ensured we had everything we needed. A comprehensive list of appliances and their usage guidelines was a thoughtful touch, making our stay hassle-free. One standout feature for us, especially as travellers with luggage, was that there are no stairs so we didn’t have to carry the luggage’s just from the car straight to the apartment. Accessibility is key, and this ground-floor gem made our experience all the more convenient. Additionally, for those relying on public transport, the bus stop is conveniently close. In conclusion, I can confidently say that this accommodation surpassed all expectations, offering incredible value for money. If you're planning a visit to Marsaxlokk, look no further – this is the place to be. Kudos to the host for creating a truly remarkable home for travelers. I can't wait for my next visit! The image showcased at the forefront of the apartment eloquently speaks for itself.
