How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe apartment was a lot bigger than we expected, it was great. We had a large balcony as well as a private roof terrace which was wonderful. We were also able to check out very late in our last day which gave us a lot more freedom to relax and freshen up before a 9pm flight home.
We unfortunately did have some issues with the air conditioning; it would switch off (error 51) after 10 mins or so but we wondered whether this was because we wanted it lower than 22°C. We did also have a visit from a couple of cockroaches which was a shame but we did manage to self resolve that situation.

We would have appreciated if you would have let us know abou the aircon as it seems one of your double poles was switched off and we would have rectified the situation immediately. Re cockroaches this is not a situation of cleanliness. Since we are by the sea and it is a lot of heat if you tend to leave anywhere open we tend to see even though we do routine spray everywhere . Also they could have entered with carton boxes you might have used for shopping.

The rubbish outside complex
thanks for your nice review. As you are well aware we emphasize a lot on how the rubbish is to be separated and the weekly schedule on which garbage is to be taken out. We strongly believe that the rubbish left outside does not belong to any of our guests but residents who take the advantage of the rental properties and leave their garbage there. In fact we are working with the local council so to install cameras as it is an unnecessary eyesore to our gem

Verified reviewThe property was brilliant for 11 of us and had everything we needed. The only slight issue we had was that it was cold inside sometimes. The staff were so welcoming and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. They even arranged transport for our days out and their driver was so accommodating and friendly as well. Verified reviewWe loved the views from the balcony, pools and roof terrace. Watching the sun rise over the water, the local fisherman in their traditional boats and the waves crashing in the rocks during a storm were highlights. We also liked the fact we didn’t need a car. We used buses to get to Valletta and Ghar Dalam and walked to the supermarkets, beach and port area restaurants. We recommended booking and eating at Tiny Mint. Delicious food with friendly staff who were all knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the food and drink they were serving.
While the area is mainly residential there are a number of large holiday apartments. Unfortunately a number of holiday makers in a few of the surrounding apartments showed no respect for their neighbours making loud noise (I sleep through most things) well into the night and early morning.

Verified reviewSCAMMERS. I have booked the stay for 3 days, we were 9 people. The host asked us a 300 EUR refundable deposit in case of any damages which we paid. The host seemed nice and welcoming but after we left the apartment and we were back to UK, they claimed fake damages and planted cigarettes in the apartment to claim the deposit and not giving any refund. During our stay we also had a blackout and we didn't even complain about it, but instead they try to rip us off. Also the property is places in an isolated place far from fun activities, be careful and don't do the same mistake. Take video of any possible damage and also take a video when leaving the apartment.

The place was left in a complete disaster , all dishes and pots and pans were out of place filled with left over foods and other dirt , a remote control of aircon was also misplaced , a shower cubicle glass was left off the rails with a drawer of the brand new refrigerator broken ! We have been renting properties for a long time and only on few occasions we had to keep the damages deposit. We are not scammers but very serious hosts and would not accept such guests in our pl;aces. If I would be given the chance to choose we definitely not accept you as our guests. We do not need the extra money, we need respect to our places.

Verified reviewAmazing stay at this beautiful apartment. The sea view was spectacular and the apartment has everything you need. The beds are so comfy. We loved it here and would 100% recommend this place. We hired a car so getting around was so easy. As it’s in the south and most of the tourist places and nicer beaches are in the north I would definitely say you need a car to get around and it was only half hour drive to get to the north. Great value and a perfect place to stay, thank you so much.

Verified reviewGreat location. Very spacious apartment. Private roof top terrace with good sun loungers. Pools were quiet. Short walk down to the sea. The area is quiet. Local town is also quiet with some nice restaurants, we didn't have any problems getting late reservations.
As we visited in August, it was really hot. Thankfully the apartment had air-con.

A major building site next door meant that we could not use the lovely sky deck and we stopped using the balcony, which has a lovely view of the sea. Builders started working from 7.30-8.00 am 6 days a week.
Dear Guest, I am very sorry that your holiday was ruined in part by the works being carried out next door which we were not aware of since the permit in question has been issued for more than 4 years and nothing had happened so far. Meanwhile the excavation works will be finished within the next 2 weeks so we invite you again to come to stay with us at a discounted price so you enjoy the facilities.
