How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Water in the shower never got hot. Being right above the restaurants and bars it was very noisy on Saturday until 3 a.m.

We communicated on various subjects, you should have pointed this out. Also, you happened to be here during the local feast weekend, which is the busiest (and noisiest) time of the year. Hope it didn’t affect your stay too much!

Verified reviewLocation in a lovely, relaxed and laid back town with plenty of restaurants, the view from the balcony. Balcony was very spacious! Bed was really comfortable. Owner’s communication was efficient and very helpful. Good aircon! Parking - FYI for other potential guests - the car park gets full however we found a stretch before the car park that was easy to park and always had spaces.
The 97 stairs (and narrow with luggage) to the penthouse. No lift… very hard in the heat. First impressions of staircase needs to be improved, it’s not nice and bit hazardous. Balcony could have done with some shade (awning if you can’t have a sun umbrella due to height of the building?) to enjoy more time out there.

STAIRCASE - Unfortunately the staircase didn't undergo fresh plastering & paint as one of the apartments at the 1st level did mayor works at the start of the season, and the apartments owners decided not to do works during the summer months. SUNSHADE - A large pergola is currently being produced for the penthouse, as umbrellas are a hazard due to the height of the property and sudden gushes of wind. PARKING - Its very true, the parking lot can get very busy around dinner time & in weekends.

Verified reviewTastefully decorated one-piece space, overlooking the most central part of the bay. Beautiful view from all windows and from the balcony, orientated so that there is some shade throughout the day. Comfortable and providing the opportunity to observe the local people and the tourists.

Verified reviewLovely centrally located apartment with beautiful view. Easy communication with very nice host. Apartment is spotless clean and I think has all utilities to cook basic dinner but we don’t cook on holidays, so I haven’t check it. No microwave or coffee maker though (only stovetop coffee maker). We loved our stay and view from balcony and bedroom but this apartment is not for everyone. Apartment is on a top floor, there are many steps to take every day. Beautiful spiral staircase is a bit dangerous at night, you have to turn on lights, if you wish to go to the bathroom. We would definitely come back.
Nothing negative, only some suggestions. We travel a lot and tea bags and coffee pods are a norm these days (also pod coffee machines are not expensive). Toiletries are a norm these days as well, we had to buy full bottles for 3 days, knowing we will have toiletries in apartment price in Malta. No space for washing machine - no problem but maybe some plastic bowl for hand washing or at least working sink plug in a bathroom sink.

Verified reviewThe apartment was amazing and perfectly well equipped. The view is out of this world. Contact was fast and very accommodating.
Being woken up at 7am by the adjoining building site. (This will likely be finished soon). A warning about the street band on a Sunday night could be good. I'd gone to bed early, I would have likely joined in if I'd have known.
Unfortunately neighboring works are out of my control, but hopefully will definitely be ready during winter. I will put the summer calendar of events in each apartment, good suggestion - thank you!
