wasnt the closest to the beach, but we had a moped so didn't affect our stay.

A bit cramped parking at the entrance right off the street.

Nice place on the east of the island. We were in 2 separate comfortable rooms close to each other. The owner has small turtles. A piece away from here are some great beaches for snorkeling and Liitle island - my picture below.

The host was very friendly and it can be contended that he wants to please his customers. The apartments are well located, with supermarkets and pharmacy just 1 min away by foot.

The room had no air con (didn't notice that when booking) and was under the building's roof, so got a bit stuffy. There was a rather loud and dusty fan which didn't move horizontally. The street outside got a bit noisy due to some loud mufflers... The washbasin was leaking water, which was fixed the next day, though. The toilet tank wasn't fixed, though, but that wasn't leaking, was just a bit "open" (nothing major, see picture).

Private parking on-site. A line in front of the room to hang out wet clothes or towels. Central location (though that meant lots of noise), close to shops, restaurants, and... the post office. The bathroom was enormous and had really hot water (unique feat for bugdet stays on the island!). The host quickly and successfully addressed an issued with a water leak.

The Room faced a very busy main street, facing a Supermarket opposite, and one below. The noise was constant from 6am until 9pm. This did not bother me, but could be a problem for a family with small children. Parking (even in Winter) was difficult, sometimes impossible.

This is Budget Accommodation, however the property was immaculately maintained by the family who live and work in the building. The room was regularly cleaned, towels and sheets replaced, and to my surprise 24 hour hot water. Well worth the money. The room had a new TV, which allowed me the opportunity of using my Firestick to watch UK channels and sport. Car or Scooter rental is eventual here.

Parking in and out was quite a challenge as the gate opens directly to the well frequented street. We were staying in the third floor and carrying the luggage upstairs without elevator was a bit annoying.

Spacious room with a terrace. Big, a bit dated closet. Parking spot. Many shops and restaurants nearby. AC in the room. The owners were nice and almost always available at the reception or in the shop next door. The owners can also organize tours and activities in the area.

The facilities are very basic, but then again what ever was needed were gladly provided.

This accommodation is made exceptional by its staff. Thank you to Aki, Ashwan, their lovely mother and Trishna in the shop, they were extremely kind, helpful and accommodating. Also a big thanks to the very kind and generous Mr Sanjay for the scooter and car hire. Our stay in Trou d'Eau Douce was made great by the wonderful Mauritian hospitality of this family.

Would have appreciated a little cook-top or microwave. Not ideal if you are sensitive to traffic noise (i am not, just stating for travelers who are looking for quite)

I had a great stay at Golden Shell Residence, first of all due to the kindness of Aki and his family. Unfortunately, my luggage didn't arrive with me, so I had to wait for 2 days until I got it, but the mother of Aki helped me to get all what I needed for these 2 days. If you stay in Golden Shell Residence, then you'll experience a warm welcome and people ready to help you or give you very useful information. It's a place where you'll feel secure and safe. Further, you'll find shops for your daily needs and restaurants just when you get out of the residence. The residence also offers you a very good breakfast for a reasonable price. If you like to travel by public bus, there's a bus station. In case you want to discover the island by yourself, Aki will help you to get a rental car, too. Thank you Aki and your dear family!

The owners are very friendly and helpful, also they have a market below the residence and that’s great to buy some food and beers ... If you want to stay one or 3 nights it’s a good place. Around the residence you have a lot of restaurants and markets to buy some food. You are 15 min way from the beach.
