Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThat it wasn’t positioned on a swim-able beach.
Beautifully maintained property. Good variety of restaurants, great pools, pool bar and gorgeous rooms, we were upgraded to a suite with a jacuzzi and incredible views.

BotswanaThe room, 1522, was dated and although clean, had a non-fresh feel to it, especially the marble and tub in the bathroom and the telephone console on the desk. Unfortunately, housekeeping did not service our room after the first night despite us leaving the appropriate sign on the door for many hours combined in the morning and in the afternoon. It would have been nice to see our name on the TV-screen when we swung open the door, but was another gentleman who received the honours (and it remained like that during our entire stay). Room service lunch and the first night's Mauritian dinner buffet were perfect, but after experiencing pastries that were at least a day old and other items that should have been fresh or not over-cooked during breakfast, we decided not to sample any of the other restaurants the hotel has on offer for dinner and lunch. I do not intend to be unfair and probably would have scored a 9 if it was not for the room and the food. Yes, we booked at the lowest price offered through booking.com over a 3-week period; maybe it was the price for the not so fresh room, but it does not justify the food issues. Overall, the hotel was simply not up to the level that one expects for a 5-star and for the rates that we paid, not even for the 3-week lowest ones.
We were in awe upon arrival; check-in could not have been better by a super-professional Philipino staff member with that awesome Asean touch of hospitality, in a stunning reception/bar area. The outside was great, with 2 heated pools and plenty of grounds and beaches to relax; it never felt crowded. All staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly, which deserves praise. And the free stay for our 6-year-old was a nice bonus.

ChinaI guess if I had to be picky, I got kicked out from the Mediterranean restaurant, bcoz my shorts were too short. 😄 And the beach wasn’t that nice
The property was really great. Loved it. Don’t understand why the rating was below 9. I could easily give it above 9.5. The staff were helpful, super friendly. Everybody just greets you with smile. Help you with everything. The room was nicely decored, clean, quite decent. For the location, it’s not far from Port Louise. Ala Carte breakfast from the Mediterranean restaurant was a plus. Good choices. And I had great Indian dosa with masala at the buffet breakfast, which was included in the booking price. They even provide free kayaking, and other water activities. Friday evening, there was free Sega music and dance show. I’m happy with basically everything. Awesome experience

SingaporeNo major issues. Small mosquitoes are present throughout, including in the restaurant. It would be great if management could address this with repellents.
The staff, always well-groomed and greeting with smiles, created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Mr. Kelvin, the front desk manager, was exceptionally helpful and attentive to our needs. The cuisine at Sensoi and Vedha, the main restaurants, was delightful. The property boasts tranquil sunset views and the calming sound of Indian Ocean waves. The rooms were spacious and comfortable.

Saudi ArabiaThere is no great snorkeling to do from the beach ; you have to take the boat during the organized tours and then it’s okay but not great. it’s more a “beach lover” place than a “water lover” location. Then there is the whole resort thing of having to book and plan activities in advance instead of spur-of-the moment decision, it may be your cup of tea or not.
Excellent beachfront location, the water edges have been nicely designed and it’s a pleasure to stroll on the private beach. Very nice and helpful staff. Many water activities are free ; you have to walk to the boat house. The room is very comfortable and (when I was there) very quiet. We tried 2 of the 3 restaurants (Indian and East Asian) on site and while it’s pricey (resort style) the food is good

United KingdomHonestly, there wasn’t anything we didn’t like. Everything was well thought-out, and the staff truly made our experience seamless and enjoyable.
We had a truly memorable stay at the InterContinental Mauritius Resort in Balaclava. The entire team was warm, welcoming, and attentive from start to finish. A special thank you goes to Kevin Ritmoo, the Head of Guest Relations and Chief Concierge, who was extremely kind to us and went above and beyond throughout our stay—his professionalism, warmth, and knowledge really made a difference, and he is a real asset to the hotel. We were also very grateful for the help from Joy at reception, who made our check-in smooth and pleasant, Vimal, who took great care of our luggage on arrival and departure, and Kilesh, who gave us a thorough room tour and explained all the facilities clearly. Our room was spacious, beautifully designed, and had a lovely jacuzzi with stunning views. The bedding was incredibly comfortable, and we really appreciated the luxurious Byredo amenities. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide variety of high-quality options, and the beachfront setting is just breathtaking—calm, relaxing, and perfect for a peaceful getaway.

Nice hotel with long beaches and all facilities. It has a buffet and 3 restaurants (Mediterranean, Asian, and Indian) and the restaurants are good. It also provides complementary water activities (Snorkelling, water skiing, wind surfing, etc.) and other trips at additional costs. We also saw a small house that was for the kids. Basically you can just go and the hotel can provide all activities. We also tried the SPA and it was really nice

AustraliaThe hotel did not put me into a twin room with 2 single beds as per my booking. However the sofa bed was made up for my son, so it still worked out ok. We had some problems with 🐜 ants. The house keeping were trying to assist. Being on the ground level and so close to the beach I understand ants can be a problem.
Location - interesting beach with rocks, losts of fish in the water and crabs on the beach. Great Views and faciliaties. Helpful and friendly staff. Ladies at the spa were very professional.

United StatesThere are some stones on the beachfront, but no worries – you can request water shoes at the boat house, which made everything easy and comfortable.
Our stay at this hotel was absolutely amazing – a perfect mix of relaxation, fun, and unforgettable moments. My wife, our child, and I felt so well taken care of from the moment we arrived. The Kids Club was a true highlight – our little one loved every second there, and it gave us time to relax knowing they were in good hands. We also loved the complimentary water activities, especially snorkeling, which was an incredible experience. One of the most touching moments was when the team surprised us with a beautiful birthday cake for my wife – such a thoughtful gesture that made her day extra special. We were truly moved by their attention to detail and care. Special thanks to the pool bar team, who kept our cocktails fresh and ready with smiles and great service every day. And the live music in the evenings was the perfect way to end each day – relaxed and full of good vibes. We left with full hearts and amazing memories. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a family-friendly getaway with top-notch service and a personal touch.
