The only problems we had were the curtains not shading the windows enough to sleep well and the noise from the traffic below, even on 4th floor. Having a breakfast included would make the stay more comfortable.

The place is adequate. It could be furnished in a more welcoming manner but it isn't bad.

The facilities were pretty basic. Things were a little worn down (but everything still worked as expected).

If you're planning to navigate Mauritius by public transport, this hotel is well situated next to a big bus station, and a short walk from the end of the tram line. My room was spacious and had a decent view out over the harbour. The price was good value, especially compared to other options on the island.

Area right around the hotel shuts down early in the evening and it is very quiet and dark. Seems OK to walk to the restaurants within sight of the hotel, but if you are going any further or returning from the water front after dark ... best to take a taxi. Not saying it is not safe, but it is so quiet, so dark and so few people ... it is best to err on the side of caution.

The first impression of the place was not good. The reception area did not have a warm welcome to it. It was small and hot. The place look tired. The wallpaper in the room was peeling off.

The location was good. Walking to distance to the market, restaurant, parks, waterfront board walk and China town. The room was big and the bed was okay. The staff was very helpful and quick to attend to our needs. The elevator was a life saver as we were on the top floor.

A bit cooler AC and shelf space. I just used my suitcase to store and place my clothes. No breakfast until several places nearby open but typically not until 9am (I think one at 8am).

Very good value for the money. Got what I paid for and would stay again. Low price, clean room, and nice front desk staff. This is a basic place to stay,not a full service.

Tidy room with en-suite, reasonably quiet (on fifth floor) good firm bed, aircon. Very central to everything. Reasonable Chinese restaurant on first floor (good xiou long bao). Fridge cups tv and electric jug. Good value for money. Would stay again.

Its proximity to my meeting venue was excellent, as it was a less than 10 minute walk. The room had a certain smell perhaps from the cleaning products used. The nose adjusts after a while though.

The neighborhood was a bit dodgy and taxi driver told me not to walk at night there. Front desk guy was okay. I'd spend more and book somewhere else if I had it to do over.

There are plenty of beggars and local drunks in the vicinity. As a large male, I felt completely safe, but I don't know if I'd feel the same if I were a female (or small).

Don't let the shabby entrance area (and surrounding neighborhood) put you off. Once you get into your room, you immediately are wowed with impressive views of both the city and surrounding mountains. Plus, the room was spotless and had all the amenities I needed, with cold air conditioning and pretty good WIFI. Despite being in the very most central part of the biggest city in Mauritius, it was very quiet, though maybe that was because I was on the top floor.

The location of Kirin Guesthouse and Restaurant is close to city attractions and restaurants.My room was spacious and nice view of the waterfront and main highway.It is a few minutes walk to the waterfront where the restaurants, post office museum and Odysseus Aquarium are found. The hotel staff were helpful,and the hotel restaurant serve excellent dinner menu items.

A little 'rough round the edges', but value for money was excellent and it exceeded our expectations.

Very comfortable bed and pillows with clean sheets. The shower was also excellent temperature and pressure! Well located near the Central Market, the fort and the waterfront area. It was quiet so no interruptions when sleeping too. They also kept our luggage at reception after we'd checked out so we could explore for an extra few hours.

The staff was nice. I was allowed to keep my luggage there before check-in time. The room was clean and big. The location was ideal as it was close to Chinatown and the Jammah Mosque.
