How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewUnique experience sleeping in a treehouse. Beautiful garden. Yannick and Ben are nice hosts and helpful to arrange restaurants/trips around. Ben‘s diving school Dive Passion Mauritius was a great experience too.
One should not have problems with bats and mosquitos, there are plenty of both around the treehouse, but that’s part of the experience of course.

Verified reviewExperience of living in tree house was quite nice. The private bathroom although it was on ground floor but had very similar decor and vibes. The hosts were verrrryyyy friendly and even helped me in finding thr place as it was quite dark when we reached. The breakfast options were very nice specially the banana jam.
Thr tree house is not a cozy place. Although its understandable that it may not have all amenities as a hotel but I was hoping for a fan atleast. The 2 nights we stayed were not windy at all and it took us a while to get sleepy. Also, the location on Google Maps is not accurate which was a huge problem because after sunset its way too dark and very hard to spot the place. If the hosts would not have helped we probably would not have reached the place.

Verified reviewA little difficult to find at first. Overall the property was not as large and extensive as we had envisaged from the original information. However our stay was comfortable and the hosts very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Conveniently located for Belle Mare and Trou d'Eau Douce.

Verified reviewTree Lodge provides a special experience - it is located in a very nice garden with a lot of flowers next to a swimming pool. Owners have been very kind and immediately responded to every wish we had. Breakfast was really delicious - fresh fruit, fruit juice, eggs or omelets, toast with butter and jam, etc. Really high quality. Lodge is located close to Belle mare, one of the nicest beaches in Mauritius. Ben (owner) is also an instructor in a Dive center (Dive passion) on Belle mare and it was a great experience to go with him for diving.
Tree Lodge might not be for somebody who is used to high comfort - it is more a camping style, closer to nature. We like it and would not replace it for 5 star hotel. It is also not easy to find it - nether Google maps, Apple maps nor Waze are showing the correct location and the way to the Lodge.

Verified reviewVery nice and comfortable tree house. The couple running the place and personal are very friendly. Yannik gave suggestions on how to easily drive through the island. Due to a fly delay, I arrived in the dark with heavy rain, making it more difficult to find the place.
Location from the sea shore quite far, but compensated for staying in a tree house. As most of tree houses, bathroom is located on the ground, could be uncomfortable for some people, but not for me.

Verified reviewThe entire experience was exceptional. Such a beautiful Treehouse! Privacy, beautiful gardens, lovely pool and lounge area, great shower, completely comprehensive attention to detail for our every comfort and convenience; from the breakfast, thoughtful amenities, to helpful support with navigating the island, great tips on local hotspots, outings, hidden gems etc. Our hosts Benjamin and Yannick were so wonderfully open, warm and accommodating. We will definitely visit again!
Everything was so lovely. Just wish we had more time to immerse.

Verified reviewVery friendly owners who share their home with guests. The garden was beautiful and made with love. It was very quiet at night. We got help whenever we asked. The rooms were clean and lovely details could have been found.
For us, the bed was very hard. There was no choice for the breakfast. You got your saussage to the eggs, even if your vegetarian. It could be asked in advance. No cereals or yoghurt or something. For the price we expected a little more. You need a scooter or car because busses come rarely.

Verified reviewThe property has a private garden that is drop-dead gorgeous! It attracts lots of birds which were a pleasure to watch while we ate breakfast on the terrace in front of the garden (which also has a commanding view of the name sake treehouse room). Yannick and Benjamin were kind, friendly and gracious hosts. Benjamin was very accommodating in that he told us about his daughter's hydroponic fish farm and when I expressed interest he took us out to visit the farm and gave us a tour! For meals out nearby there is the local "Snack" that is called Marantha Snack, but is known locally as simply "George's", and they prepare really good curry and local dishes and desserts. It is worth a visit (or 2 or 3!). I would definitely return to this hotel (and George's!) in the future trips to the island.
It is a bit remote from everything so there is a need to get a bus or taxi. We did walk the few kilometers to Belle Mare beach one day but there is no good foot path to get you there.

Verified reviewWe loved the tree house and the pool as well as the friendly owners and staff who served us breakfast. It was a unique experience that was done with style. There were interesting places to visit but we looked forward to returning to the tranquility of the tree lodge set in lovely gardens. Thank you for recommending mami sophie.we had the best meal there.
Getting up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet and climbing down to the bathroom although the bathroom was lovely and we left all our belongings in there . We stayed for 3 nights which was perfect.
