South AfricaCockroach in the shower upon arrival, and another crawling around my luggage. The room was small enough, didn't enjoy sharing with bugs.. No soap in the bathroom, no toilet paper either.
The fact that I had a place to sleep. I arrived late. But the elderly host woke up to check me in. Breakfast was made right in front of me which was cute, super basic, but filling. I am grateful. Nice surrounding views, like the vast waters, and local streets..

CanadaThe room was filthy - They didn't change the bedding. There was no hot water in the shower. There was no shampoo or soap. The faucet was broken and the male owner was blaming me for breaking it. He was an old man with very bad temper and stingy too. He asked me to increase the temperature of the AC to save electricity! The parking situation was even worse - there is very little space for parking the vehicle on the street. There might have been arguments with the neighbors in the past so the owner was very strict with how close you need to get to the curb. It was definitely the worst hotel I've ever stayed anywhere in the world - I've travelled to more than 30 countries and stayed at hundreds of hotels.

ReunionEverything was wonderful! We originally booked for just one night but ended up staying a few more. It’s a family-run business, and Mala and Vishnu truly made us feel like we were at home. My children especially enjoyed spending time with her. The room was cleaned every other day during our stay, which was great. The breakfast was simple but satisfying and kept us energized for the day.

My wife and I loved staying at La Bamboo Guesthouse - just our taste in Lonely Planet old- school backpackers accommodation. The house was quite a maze and we had one of the rooms with terrace overlooking the river. Had everything we could possibly need and Mala and her husband Vishnu couldn’t have been more helpful with simple breakfast to set us up for the day. The beautiful Blue Bay is only 15 minutes away on local bus - well worth the rs30 bus fare just for the trip. Short walk to several supermarkets and bus terminal short walking distance.

United KingdomUnfortunately the requested bicycles were no longer available. The credit card machine wasn't working, Hot water has restricted hours,which might inconvenience some.
The property is located very close to the bus station and the Waterfront walkway,It is also in an easy walk to two good¬sized supermarkets where you could buy drink and provisions for storage in the owners' easily accessable fridge.The tap water is drinkable at the property It is a cozy GH and very sociable,The owners are friendly and helpful and one or other was always available.The decor is a little tired but is full of character, The floor was immaculately cleaned and mopped throughout the day,There is a beautiful panorama towards the Cavendish Bridge from the upstairs balcony.My room was functional and the bed was comfy,Breakfast was included though lacked variation (bread,jam,omelette,tea/coffee) however it was greatly welcomed. I actually visited the property twice,The first 3 days were scheduled but the second occassion was the consequence of Cyclone Belal. I was due to fly home,but was tol;d to leave the airport.I turned up unannounced at the property to be told it was full.However,the kind lady made a family room available for me and was told to 'think of me as your older sister !' I will be forever thankful for her kindness and for her understanding of the situation,
