How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Verified reviewWe stayed in one bedroom apartment of the hotel. Very nice and comfortable. Downstairs was a small kitchen, living room, extra toilet and working office area. My husband was working and the office space was excellent. Also a small veranta, full of trees - very nice. Upstairs was the bedroom and bathroom. Very good. Nice decorated place and very comfortable. Also there is a boat transfer from the hotel to the opposite site of the marina. Very convienient. Good gym.
The swimming pool is very small, more for relaxing instead of swimming. The kitchen was more to make a coffee and tea, or eat take away food - not for cooking. It was missing some necessary things, like kitchen towel, dish sponge and rack, kitchen liquid. Also there is no washing machine, but the hotel has laundry service. One evening we try the internarional buffet at the restaurant. It was very dissapointing and not worth the money at all. Go out for dinner.

Verified reviewThe Hotel is looking worn and old - I have been coming to Le Suffren for approximately 5 years and very little upgrades and maintenance on the hotel seems to have been done. The rooms also need to be updated for the new electronics in play, plus the bathrooms need to be revamped.

Verified reviewThis is a very smart and comfortable hotel in a great location in Port Louis. Very convenient for the waterfront and the city centre. Staff are pleasant and friendly and professional. Rooms very clean, modern and comfortable. The meals are very good.
We were woken up by the fire alarm at 6am which was unfortunate, but I imagine it was nobody's fault. On the positive side it is a very safe hotel, you will never sleep through a fire!

Rooms were outdated and somewhat unclean. First day we had an issue with ants as well as a leaking air con which caused floods on the room. For a 4 star hotel it really needs updating. Stuck in the 90s, decor etc. breakfast buffet was poor, food cold and not worth the e money. Stayed 3 nights only had breakfast one of the days we stayed.

I believe that the two hotels on the waterfront belong to the same hotel group. The Suffren presents the image of being of a good national standing, but it looks ‘tired’ and is clearly outshone in all respects by the Labourdonnais Hotel, which is competitive internationally.

Verified reviewThe hotel is conveniently located in the downtown area of Port Louis, which was a great way to avoid traffic. The room was tidy and the spa services was a plus.
The ferry boat is a great service, but there is a huge miscommunication gap on the Hote's website, booking.com page and in the actual facilities regarding the times the ferry runs and on the pauses of this service. If the ferry is on hold and the foot bridge is closed, one is forced to walk to the hotel (which in itself is fine given the short distance). However, the path is dim-lit and has stray dogs out and about. One of our party got badly bitten and the hotel staff took no responsibility for this, nor helped with ensuring that the bitten guest had food brought to the room, or covered for any amenities. In fact, the hotel's behavior was careless and unempathic, even though the person had great costs associated with getting a private doctor to visit and administer vaccines and pain relief, and had come to Mauritius for work and had to miss two days of activities. I would NOT recommend the hotel.

No toast at breakfast because the toaster was broken, for the whole duration. Unacceptable for a hotel breakfast area. Aircon issues and took 2-3 maintenance visits to be fixed over a 12 hr period .

Verified reviewIt’s a good hotel, second time staying here. The staff are helpful and kind. The food is great as well. Breakfast buffet is delicious! The property is located in the city (The Capital) it’s close to malls, business hubs, etc. If you’re on business travel this hotel makes sense. If you’re a tourist a day is enough to explore the city.
The hotel rooms are abit outdated. Especially the bathrooms, which don’t look squeaky clean because of the old build up. The bedroom is decent and nice though.
