How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewCleanliness of the grounds of the Resort. Variety of activities and food options. The weather was also great for me, meaning not too hot. Was able to sit by the pool and enjoy watching my children swim.
I booked a room in advance of my arrival to ensure we did not have to wait for check in as it was going to be very early in the morning. Even though, I called and sent text messages to follow up ensuring I didn't have to wait, we still ended up waiting for the room. Also, the room had ant problems, so we requested a different room. Management was able to accommodate the room change with a better view as I was expecting from the beginning.

Verified reviewArrival & First Impressions: The arrival experience was smooth and welcoming — from the grand entrance to the friendly lobby greeting with a refreshing drink and cold towel. The resort’s architecture strikes a beautiful balance between contemporary design and Creole-inspired elements. Walking through lush landscaped pathways enhances the overall sense of tranquility. Service & Atmosphere: The staff are genuinely friendly and helpful, adding to the resort’s warm ambiance. The beach is pristine and well-serviced, with complimentary activities like pedal boats and kayaks. The Glow Spa, set amid a botanical garden with calming water features, is a highlight — serene and beautifully designed.
Areas for Improvement: • Lighting: The walkways to the more distant rooms are poorly lit at night, making them feel a bit unsafe or uncomfortable. • In-Room Coffee Policy: The hotel gives only two complimentary coffee pods — after that, they charge MUR 190 per pod. For a five-star resort, this feels petty. We ended up buying a 10-pack from Bagatelle Mall for MUR 290. • Dining Reservations: A particularly frustrating experience was being denied entry to restaurants on our first night because we hadn’t pre-booked — even though we had just arrived, were visibly exhausted, and the restaurants were half-empty. Hotel taxis: Avoid using the hotel taxi. We paid MRU 3,800 for a single trip to Bagatelle Mall, while we booked several private tours , MRU 3,600 for a 5-hour tour • MRU 4,500 for an 8-hour guided island tour Much better value compared to the hotel’s taxi rates.

Verified reviewThe beach is absolutely exceptional! We were also very grateful to find an adults-only infinity pool that was quiet and relaxing. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The food is of high quality and there is a wide range of options available, including Chopsticks, an Asian themed a-la-carte restaurant we really enjoyed. Our room was very spacious and well-equipped. This is a place that has something for everyone - from families, to couples, to friends, to solo travels.
It would be great if the buffets included more vegan options and had clearly marked labels for those with food allergies. One night was very chaotic at the main buffet restaurant and we waited quite some time to be seated, but got there eventually. Great stay overall!

This was my first time to Mauritius and I guess it will be the last. I traveled half the globe under the expectations that my family and I would have a great time. Nothing is good. Staff are not trained to accommodate tourists, if you ask more than a question, they start to give you negative sentiments, they are really programmed in a way to make your mood go bad in any single request you have. Delays in orders, very poor food menu, everything is chargeable even water. They have bad attitude and definitely won't recommend this place to anyone. When I did my research it seemed that Long beach hotel was in the top 10 list 5 years back but not anymore, this what everyone has said even locals. Waste of money.

Verified reviewThe size and quality of the room, the service provided in the room and in the resort, the majority of the staff were really nice, friendly and helpful. Great quality of the main buffet food.
Presence of 70 people of the same group that were overtaking most of the facilities in the resort ( sunbeds in the beach, tables at the restaurant, ect) Being a celiac person, the most of the time the staff was not acknowledge of the gluten free options, that brought me to wait even more than 10 minutes and interact with several staff members before I could have some information about ingredients, sometimes were even not correct and I have to throw away the food and get new from scratch. Lack of entertainment through out the day and evening either for kids or adults.
