How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

inventory items missing not replaced. e.g. glassware. sun lounger broken which was already known by staff, half repaired pool tiles. its the small things that get noticed. thats what lets the overall experience down.

Kitchen and bathroom appliances didn’t work as appliance sockets didn’t work with the connection provided . Quite a disappointing. As it’s self service Villa more reasons all the appliances should be working but sadly after many reminders it didn’t . Our point of contact was Marcus and he was barely responsive with solutions after 3 days of stay he met us and last two days of the stay no housekeeping , hygiene was poor and AC was leaking . No ceiling fan in the dinning area

We was told to arrive at the property early 12.00pm but Marcus never arrived till 15.30pm for check in and to show how everything works and where to find things. when it should have been 14:00. This was the first red flag. When we arrived the Tv did not work so 3 men had to come and fix it. The beds are terribly hard and only had one pillow per person. It was pretty basic for what is meant to be a luxury villa. We was asked to pay 20,000 deposit on check in which was fine. My family and i had advised Marcus on day of check out we was planning a family trip so we would need to leave by 11am to travel to the other side of the island. Marcus did not show up on time day of check out we called and called finally managed to get hold of him. He told me and my family we would have to get a taxi into the town to meet a lady with a card machine if we wish for our deposit to be returned. We was completely shocked at this as our baby is only 4 months old. We had no idea what we was doing we are tourist on holiday. This was not agreed or mentioned on check in We argued and finally he said he would come to give us our money back in 20 mins. My family and i was desperate to leave to make our trip and collect baby formula as we was all out, which we told Marcus. Our Poor Baby cried and went hungry for 2 hours while we waited for our deposit to be returned, My wife was in tears and baby crying as we did not plan on being in the villa so late. We are currently battling the general manager Maxell Ternel who seems to have no empathy towards me and my family for the terribly service and the stress caused to me and my family. Takes days and days to get a simple email response. Maxwell has offered an early check in and late check out on our next stay, Which i find utterly shocking him thinking we would ever stay with them again after this. They added they would also compensate for our day trip which we declined. We will continue to fight this !!!

Verified reviewIt looks even better in person the pictures don’t do it justice, the location is perfect, close proximity to beaches, restaurants, bars, supermarkets, gas stations and more… yet so quite and homely once you’re inside the villa…the staff were great with us and made sure we had an amazing stay, would recommend this villa to anyone looking for accommodation in Mauritius and I’ll definitely be coming back, thank you Marcus & staff for your amazing service✨
My only downfall was the WiFi signal/strength was a little poor, I’m a content creator so rely heavily on internet so I really picked up on this… other than that there’s absolutely no negatives about this villa.

We needed a car, you cant walk to go out for dinner, quick shop etc. Also they only gave us 2 rolls of toilet paper for our 5 day stay

Verified reviewIt's a complex of villas. Basically, you're surrounded by smaller and bigger villas. It feels safe and it feels remote. Being in the heart of Grand Baie, it still feels that you're away from all that hassle. The villa area itself feels authentic, very green, and nice, like living in a jungle. It has a lot of nice places to chill, the pool area, the terrace, a nice kitchen, and the yard.
If you're not afraid of cockroaches, then it's the place to stay. It's just unpleasant to see 5 cm cockroaches in you bathroom and bedroom. My fiancee didn't sleep for 2 nights, seeing them. It's okay if they move around outside, but if they're running free at house, it's not okay. The place is a bit old, tired, not too clean (sun chair covers). The worst experience was the host and welcome. We actually did not know that there is Oasis 1 and Oasis 2. So, the whole confusion of the arrival is the reason for the poor rating. What happened? We agreed to arrive at 5 pm with the host via Whatsapp. We arrived at the property, and the gate personnel let us in but didn't speak any English, any of it. We could not reach the host anymore, calling 10 times, and writing several times. And no answer. The host was supposed to welcome us at 5 pm, but there was no response until 8 pm when we started to worry about looking for another place to stay. We were really stressed out. We decided to look around the Grand Baie area for places to stay, then made a decision to go to the place one more time. And then the gate man at the property was changed, that one actually spoke English and told us that there is another Oasis Villa, number 2. So we went there and found our villa, the door was open and ready for us. The host just came in at 9 pm and there were no worries, no explanation, or worry. I was really surprised, that there was no response to my concern. Well, we were looking forward to arriving before sunset and settling in. Instead, we were stressed and lost the whole evening. The worst experience of our 3-week vacation in Mauritius. It's not about a small confusion. The whole point is, that the host should be more supportive. If the guest is communicating to you, and looking forward to welcoming you at a confirmed time, then the host should keep the phone close by and be responsive.
