How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

We had a very disappointing experience at the boathouse. As a Black couple we felt discriminated against when we were told we could not go snorkeling, a complimentary activity, due to the presence of jellyfish. Strangely, the staff at the boathouse were quick to suggest paid activities like helmet diving and kite surfing instead or do jellyfish only appear for snorkelers? To make matters worse, we noticed that neighboring resorts in the same area were allowing their guests to snorkel that day. This felt unfair and discriminatory. Additionally, the food and drinks were extremely overpriced.

Severe Hygiene Issue – Stained Bedding I stayed at SALT of Palmar in June and was extremely disappointed by a serious hygiene lapse a few days into our stay. I discovered that the duvet on our bed was stained with blood, makeup, sweat, and brown marks, affecting not only the duvet but also the sheets, pillows, pillowcases, and protectors. As you can see from the photos, I requested the bedding to be changed- this was IGNORED. I personally had to strip the bedding myself and informed the head of housekeeping about the issue. There is no excuse for not changing the bedding on the first request. The stains were clearly visible, and it was unacceptable that staff returned the same bedding later. We were waiting for the bedding to be changed at night for around 30 minutes, after having informed staff earlier in the day. Hours later, when we returned tired from exploring the island, we had to raise the issue again and wait—only after three separate attempts were fresh bedding and sheets finally provided. Adding to our disappointment, it appeared that staff members were laughing when we raised these concerns. This experience was both frustrating and unacceptable, and it has put me off from returning. While the property itself is beautiful, management needs to take serious action to ensure all guests receive clean, hygienic bedding and are treated respectfully and professionally.

Verified reviewPeople that work in hotel are very very kind and helpful! Swiming pool is great! Dinner in Tek tek restoran was quite experience. Rooms are more or less like in photos, so you can count on that. I was in garden room view and I will post some photos of that. If they don't have something for breakfast or you eat just simple omlet without spices, they can make that.
Part where is hotel beach is not so deep for swiming, so everyday we used another beach. Prices of sleeping and breakfast may seem ok when you book, but food and drinks are litle bit pricy and without much of choice. But there are other hotels and restorans around where we also tried food, and there was bigger choice, and prices were more ok.

Verified reviewWe stayed 3 nights. Hotel has nice design, offers variety of meals for breakfast. Dinners also ok. A few activities included in the price and we tried SUPs and a short boat trip. Possibility to take a shower after check out in case of late flight. Price/value reasonable. No kids and mostly calm atmosphere except for a few drunks
There is nothing around except for the resorts so better to book full board. It was quite windy during our sojourn so impossible to stay at the beach except for a few places. I recommend to check the weather as the wind changes depending on the season. I think that the other resorts in Palmar are a bit more hidden from the wind. Not really 5 stars, the room equipment shows the marks of the time. Differences in the quality of the staff.

They stick to their check in and check out so badly that it becomes a harassment if you land a little early due to odd flight connections or if your flight is late in the evening.

Chef Shiva Mootien took his much precious time to explain to us the concept of his cuisine and the nuances between the various dishes and plates.
