How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Verified reviewI loved the small sea view apartments especially the tv / sofa area. It gives you more space in a room where usually you only have your bed. So I spent a lot of time inside watching the sea as it was bit cold due to winter season. The restaurant is nice. It is better to book it all inclusive because the price for dinner is around 1800 rupees which is 30 euros per person. Or if you have a car you can drive 2-3 mn up and find two restaurants. We walked two times but there are no lights and little pedestrian walk. They also offer boat rides to ile au cerf which was very nice to organise so you don't need to worry. I loved the bathroom, very spacious, could be a little more cleaner but yeah I am cleanfreak. Loved the staff, very kind, at là boutique as well. They encourage for an ecological stay so they give you water reusable bottles in the beginning so you don't plastic ones. They give you coffee as well in case you want to drink in your room for tea time.
The prices for dinner is around 30 euros per person but the food at lunch is around 8 euros which is around 450 rupees thats a huge différence, just you know before you go. We didn't and caught eating there because we didn't have a car yet. Sometimes the food was very salty especially at Kot Nou but this is easily changeable. I wish staff would give the same attention they give to white people to non white people. Felt a différence of attention / treatment but again these things can be easily improved.

Verified reviewSuper beautiful location so close to the ocean (no beach, but a public one is very close), the best and the kindest staff we have ever met.
Rooms surely need a renovation as they look maybe not old, but used. Could be also a bit cleaner, but it was an acceptable level. Food was good quality, but not great, not terrible in terms of taste. No one informed us that with half-board option dinner drinks are paid additionally. Drinks and meals are terribly inflated. In general our stay was nice, but not as fantastic as we expected from the pictures and description.

There wasn't anything we didn't like. Perhaps learning that the hotel is right next to a cemetery wasn't great, but in the scheme of things it didn't bother us.

Verified reviewWhat a lovely little adults-only hotel! Comfy bed, attentive staff, spectacular lunch every day at the little van round the side of the restaurant. The pool is in a perfect sheltered spot because it was exceptionally windy (that's the East in May for you) and the beach was not an option. Although just a 10/15 minute walk further around the coast and Trou d'eau Douce beach was much more calm. There is an awesome little shop with some really good options for mementoes or gifts. Staff of course were just wonderful - even the guy we thought of as 'grumpy barman' until we got to know him lol. The spa is gorgeous - do yourself a favour and get a treatment there (just avoid nail treatments, it's not their strong suit). Scrub and massages were to die for.
The live entertainment (sega dancers) was waaaaaayyyy too loud for that covered area. It wasn't enjoyable. They should just stick with the acoustic entertainment or move the music perhaps to the other side of the pool.

Verified reviewLayout of hotel was very well designed with sea facing rooms and several little intimate sitting areas around the poolside, many with possibility of serve yourself soft drinks and books to borrow. Staff were all very friendly and helpful - in particular Vikash, Sous Chef gave helpful advice on different meals which he prepared - all very tasty. Among the serving staff Jasraj was outstanding with his big welcome and smiling, willing service.
Variety of desserts was rather limited and repetitive.

Poor food, food poisoning Air-conditioning broken down several times we had to move rooms 5 times! In the middle of the night. Then we were upgraded to the villas and then you get a rude manager on the phone who tells you, you should be happy cause you're being upgraded. Which we never asked for, our room was fine. It was only 28 degrees in the room because the air-conditioning and all electricity at some point stopped working after heavy rainfall. Rude staff(not all! Some were really friendly, especially the cleaning ladies) they put a 10 percent tip on every purchase you make and are quick to put the bill on your room so you have zero overview of the costs. When you don't want to pay the ten percent they are rude and talk about you laughing at you in French. They don't show a lot of understanding for your situation or the fact that they are messing up your entire honeymoon. The food is quite bad, everybody has different understanding of what bad is. But they don't seem to cool the food properly, especially in taba j where the drinks are warm and the chicken gave us bad belly a couple days in a row. That's why we didn't even eat at the resort anymore (only breakfast, which wasn't great but at least save to eat because you saw it being made in front of you) after days of not eating there we did try it again and had a hamburger and a club sandwich. Which gave my wife food poisoning which had us more on the toilets of the resort than enjoying our stay. So we had take taxis to the nearby village to get medication, because they sell a lot of trinkets at the resort but nothing useful. Especially not when you're sick. They don't even sell a single paracetamol or wet wipes or anything. And there is nothing nearby either, unless you consider the graveyard in the backyard as a nice place to visit...

I am truly sorry to read that your honeymoon did not meet your expectations, and I would like to offer my sincere apologies for the various inconveniences you experienced during your stay. I fully understand how disruptive the air-conditioning and electricity issues must have been, especially on such a special occasion. Please allow me to clarify the situation. On the first night, when you reported the AC fault, we arranged for you to sleep in another room (while retaining your original room) since our technician was not available for immediate repair. The following day, after the AC was repaired, you returned to your original room, but the issue persisted, and within ten minutes, you reported it again. As a gesture of goodwill and to ensure your comfort, we upgraded you, at no additional cost, to one of our private villas. That evening, you mentioned the AC in the villa wasn’t cooling properly. You were then moved to a second villa, which unfortunately experienced an electrical trip that required urgent attention. The following day, you returned to the first villa and remained there comfortably until your departure. My Executive Assistant Manager reached out to ensure you were settled, and during that conversation, when a refund was requested, he explained that the complimentary upgrade was offered in an effort to improve your experience. We understand that this gesture did not fully resolve the situation for you. I was particularly concerned to read your comments regarding the behaviour of our Family Members. During your stay and in previous correspondence, this was not raised directly with us, which would have allowed us to address the matter more effectively. That said, we are continually reinforcing our service standards through ongoing training to ensure all interactions reflect the genuine warmth and respect we strive to offer each guest. Regarding billing, I’d like to clarify that the 10% discretionary tip is entirely optional. It is never mandatory, and any guest may request to have it removed. In line with our procedures, no charge is applied without a signed bill that includes the guest's name, signature, and room number. Bills without this are not processed until verified. I understand how important meals are to the overall enjoyment of a stay, and I’m truly sorry that our dining options did not meet your expectations. I was particularly surprised to read your feedback about the food at Taba-J, as this is the first time we have received such comments. Regarding the food poisoning you mentioned after lunch at our main restaurant, I wish to reassure you and our future guests that no similar symptoms were reported by any other guests during your stay, or since. In fact, on that same day, over twenty guests enjoyed the same burger and sandwich options without any adverse effects. Furthermore, you declined our offer for medical attention. Please rest assured that we take such concerns extremely seriously, and food safety remains a top priority. We also respectfully note that medication can only be dispensed upon prescription by a registered doctor, in accordance with local regulations. We genuinely tried our best to turn the experience around and are sorry we were unable to do so to your satisfaction. I truly hope we will have another opportunity to welcome you back in the future and deliver the level of care and service that so many of our guests appreciate. Verified reviewThe hotel offers a serene and quiet environment, perfect for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. The rooms are ideally located facing a stunning lagoon, offering the added bonus of breathtaking sunrise views. The swimming pool is large and well-maintained, and despite windy weather, the water remains pleasantly warm—ideal for a relaxing dip. The reception staff were polite, welcoming, and very helpful throughout our stay. One thing to note: there is no beach directly in front of the hotel, which may be a drawback for those specifically looking for beachfront access.
Our experience at this property was far from satisfactory. The restaurant was a major letdown. For both dinner and breakfast, there was barely any variety. Dinner consisted of just two Mauritian curries and one chicken dish – no fish, no grilled options, and certainly nothing close to the large buffet we were expecting. The lack of choice was extremely disappointing. To make matters worse, the service was unprofessional. One of the waiters, an overweight man wearing glasses, displayed a shocking lack of hygiene. His body odour was so overwhelming that it ruined our appetite. It was clear he had been working all day without any concern for cleanliness, and management appeared completely indifferent to the situation. While the room was nicely decorated, it had several serious issues. The main door was extremely difficult to open, which poses a safety risk in case of emergency. The mini fridge emitted a foul smell upon opening, as if something had not been properly cleaned, and even the toilet had a persistent unpleasant odour. Overall, this was not a value-for-money experience, and I would not recommend this property. The lack of basic hygiene and poor attention to detail are unacceptable.

Verified reviewTropical Attitude is amazing place with amazing people. We stayed in vila which guarantee privacy and relax. The personnel of the hotel is exceptional - all of them. We would like to highlight our maid Kamina who did great job every day. Huge benefit is possibility to use service from the time of your arrival until the time of your departure. This hotel is the place I would highly recommend. Hope we will back.

The breakfast/dinner was so so - not a lot of options & not that tasty most of the times. The room is outdated & not cosy at all. Few minor things: there were unclear stains on the bed but I believe these were old. There were rats running near the room but this is not a hotel issue but worth noting that there might be some wildlife around the hotel.
