Seafront room was amazing, but bed was very hard/uncomfortable. Fantastic place in ever other way, so a shame about the bed - sleep is important!

Staff were amazing, helpful, informative, accommodating. Sorted hire car for us (dropped to hotel, picked up at different location) Loved the pool area, sunbeds, hammocks! Breakfast was great! Thank you :)

More like a B&B than a hotel, little run down and expensive for what it is.

Quite expensive for what it was. There are no attractions, restaurants or bars close by, however if you are staying for a short time and happy to stay at the hotel it is fine. There is no formal restaurant. On arrival the hosts advised they were putting on a BBQ, we were told dinner was at 7pm, we were then presented with a plate of food with three pieces of meat, cold pasta salad and some coleslaw. There was one option of tiramisu for dessert, as we don’t like coffee we requested a substitute, this request was ignored. There was no mention of cost so we thought this was included, we were surprised to receive a bill of $100 AUD for this meal on check out - this was very expensive for what we received. The next morning we found out that none of the other guests knew about the cost either - moving forward it is suggested that the host informs guests of the cost ahead of time. The place is more like a B&B than a hotel, room was modern however everything else is a little run down and needs a refresh.

Our room was very nice, clean, nice bedding, good shower. The hosts were reasonably friendly.

The bungalow was a little run down. It also looked out onto the car park. The restaurant and pool area, although by the sea, didn't have a great view as was blocked by fencing.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Pool area looked lovely. The bungalow area we stayed in was spacious and nice to have a kitchen.

A satisfying stay at Villa Anakao
    • Leisure trip
    • Family with young children
    • Family Room with Terrace
    • Stayed 6 nights

    1. The finicky coffee machine 2. Some communication challenges during breakfast time (French versus English) 3. Rental car needed when staying at villa as it about 5 kms from Port Louis. Commuter bus runs on the road outside the villa but timings are a challenge. Having a rental car for the trip solves the location issue

Stayed 6 nights at Villa Anakao with my family. The experience overall was very good. On arrival at 11:00AM, Patricia interacted with us. We were offered a cold towel and cold drinks for refreshments. Since we were early, the room was getting cleaned. We completed the check-in process and were in the room by 12:00PM. The family room on the first floor up a steep flight of stairs was spacious and had a outdoor seating area. The AC was functional keeping the room comfortably cool. The bathroom and shower area were small but functional. The ceilings next to the bed headboard were low and care was needed to not hit the roof while accessing this particular side of the room. The room also had a small refrigerator which we used to store drinks during the stay. The villa has a lot of history. The sea is right behind the villa but there is a rocky ledge and hence, sea is not accessible. There is a gate access to the sea but is not the most convenient. A beach within walking distance of the villa is the best option. We had lunch (at the outdoor seating area) and dinner (in room) on the first day. The food was tasty and filling and the price was in line with what you would get in restaurants outside. The breakfast options were limited to bread slices, cheese slices, jams, honey, eggs done in various ways, waffles, pancakes, fruits etc. along with coffee. The coffee comes from a machine which happens to be a bit finicky. There is a friendly dog (Zulu) on the property. Kids would enjoy interacting with it. Patricia was around to answer any questions. Another gentleman, whose name I forgot, helped us with some tips on places to visit. We were very satisfied with the stay, we mostly spent the nights given that we left the villa at 9:30AM in the morning and returned at 9:00PM on all the days. I would recommend the villa to anyone who is looking for a more economical option along with history and character.

I think in order to make the best of the hotel you need to have your own hire car - it is not really near any nice beaches - although you can get a bus or taxi to get around if you need to.

The Villa is beautiful with a beautiful pool and view onto the sea. The staff were so lovely and friendly and I felt completely safe as a solo female traveller. The breakfast was great - chice of eggs, pancakes, waffles, fruit every morning, and I had the set dinner which was also delicious and freshly made.

The bedroom was very dark. There was a good bedside lamp but the rest of the room was poorly lit. Anyone with mobility issues should ask for a downstairs room. There is no lift.

The staff are so nice. They really try to make everyone comfortable and at ease. I had breakfast and dinner there. It was good and reasonably priced. The pool is lovely with a superb sea view.

Further from Port Louis than anticipated so had to use taxis rather than walk but not expensive at 600 rupees per journey.

Colonialesque quirky shabby chic property with lovely pool overlooking the sea and shady gardens. Good sized ground floor room (called Gris) with French doors onto the veranda and great shower. Great staff, very helpful. Honesty system for drinks. Had an excellent margarita pizza!

The staff is absolutely wonderful! Very friendly and happy to help you - thank you, Ben and Yann! The rooms are nice and big, and very clean. I read comments about the breakfast being basic, but in my opinion it was perfect. It was made to order, fresh and tasteful, much better than the big buffets.

Location not good - you are forced to dine at the villa due to its location. Meals not too bad for the money ( 3 course set meal taken each evening) but had no idea what we would be paying for the meal until checking out.

The location wasn’t good for us, there are no local restaurants or bars, so you need to drive in the evenings, possibly take the bus or as we did a taxi each way into Port Louis approximately 15 minutes drive.

    Hotel was very clean.
