How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

It truly was a magical experience — one that will stay with us forever. The island is breathtaking, surrounded by crystal-clear waters and untouched nature. Our villa was cozy, elegant, and perfect for relaxing and enjoying quality time together. The culinary experience was outstanding. A special mention goes to the Japanese restaurant Feeling Koi, where every dinner was a delight — beautifully crafted dishes in a stunning setting by the sea. The excursions and activities were thoughtfully planned and had something for all ages. On some evenings, we had the pleasure of enjoying live music by The Sandstone, adding a lovely and relaxed touch to the atmosphere. But what truly sets Amilla apart is its people. Our heartfelt thanks to: • Gondo, for always being attentive and making sure everything was perfect for us. • Yasin, for his natural gift for connecting with guests and his warm, caring service. • Dewi, for starting each morning with her bright smile and uplifting spirit. • Yeli, for her kindness and thoughtful service in every detail. • Rahat, for looking after our villa with such dedication and care. • And Areesha, for her warm and helpful assistance from the very first moment at Malé airport. Verified reviewWe stayed at Tree Top Villa for 10 nights and that was the best choice in terms of location and privacy. We love walking and riding bicycles, so the Villa located in the jungle was the perfect choice to make the vacation a bit more diverse if you are slightly tired from the beach and social life. Even when it was raining - the terrace with its very private pool (not very big but just ideal for one adult or a couple of kids), trees, bats and birds - that was really romantic. The villa itself was so beautiful (we liked the architecture and style, and the master bathroom was gorgeous). We stayed at Amilla in low season - end of April - beginning of May, and we enjoyed the feeling of privacy (though most of the villas were occupied - we saw other guests mostly in restaurants. The service was also above all expectations - our butler Gondo was in touch 24*7 via WhatsApp and all our requests were met immediately. All other employees were also very friendly and helpful (we are quite demanding clients - but here there were no complaints at all - very good!). The variety of menu types in all the restaurants is very impressive (kids menu, keto, paleo, dairy-free, vegan and vegetarian, gluten free - and the personnel always keeps in mind your limitation). In all the restaurants they met our requests and cook in accordance with our wishes - that was more than convenient for us and three our kids with very different preferences. I also had very positive experience with the medicine department of the hotel - and they were very nice and helpful. In addition to describe the service - the meeting in the airport was perfect, the hotel has its very nice lounge where you could refresh and even check-in while having some healthy snacks and drinks with the great view. At the day of departure, the hotel's representatives accompanies us at the boat and in the hydro-plane, and at the check-in desk in the airport to the customs - that was very nice from them!

From the very first moment they welcome you on the airport to the moment you leave this paradise on the earth, everything was just p-e-r-f-e-c-t! Top notch personnel where everyone is trying to pamper you and fulfill all the wishes. Buddy - you are the king! Great food for breakfast - even better for lunch and dinner (special recommendation for Japanese restaurant). Overwater villas are located directly over the reef with incredible marine life underneath (snorkeling felt like Windows screen saver :). On the scale from 1 to 10 I give them 11! Guys thanks for everything.
