How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were very helpful. The breakfast was good. Size of the room was excellent and it was cleaning twice a day. A few metres to the bikini beach with private lounges & parasols for hotel guests.

Verified reviewThe pre-arrival communication with the guesthouse was super. Staff are very helpfull and accomodating. The room is very good and clean
I was disappointed with Gulhi island. It is full of plastic and garbage on the floor everywhere A lot of shops/ restaurants are closed and empty A few hotels serve food, but evrywhere with blasting loudspeakers with loud, not good music The beach is rather small, loud music and the overall experience is not the pristine, relaxing atmosphere of what you would look for being on the Maledives.. A very big contrast with all the pristine resort islands...

Verified reviewIt was very Clean, staff was okey, location is fine Breakfast is good. The room which one I booked from photo, it was not that, then I decided to stay only one night. Arrival villa hotel is next to Ayala, is better option, Gulhi is tinny island, Mafushi is better option then Gulhi
No one is suggesting you for local ferries timing, they says we didn’t know, if anyone want transfer they only says we have private transfer we are not sure about local ferries , there are a few cafe type restaurants Food option is not quite good. Beach is very very small, only a few people are there. Suggestions: book in mafushi, morning local ferry come from mafushi to Gulhi , with cost of one dollar, then evening 4 o clock same ferry come from Gulhi to mafushi with one dollar. So you can visit island for 8 hours, Gulhi has less options and value of money, mafushi and hemafushi are better options only a bit costly

Verified reviewLovely hotel on a picturesque island. The room was always perfectly clean - with housekeeping twice a day: the bed was made in the morning and turned down in the evening. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. welcome greeting at check-in - such a pleasant surprise! The buffet breakfast was delicious and had a good variety. Highly recommended.

Verified reviewThe food was amazing and also that the stuff brrought umbrellas to the bikini beach. Room cleaning twice a day was almost too much. Once a day would be perfect.

Verified reviewPerfect from pick-up to drop off; the staff is very nice and helpful. The hotel restaurant is amazing & there is room service twice a day. They offer free beach chairs for guests. Since there was no booking the day we left, we were allowed to stay longer than check out.
Only negative point: the rooftop chillout-lounge as depicted in the Booking photos does not exist anymore.

Verified reviewThe location was great. Only 1 minute away from the beach. The staffs were very kindly and helpful. My seaplane from the resort before delayed for 4 hours, so that we couldn’t catch the last speed boat at 17:00 to Gulhi. But the staff helped us to reach Gulhi still on that day by “sending” us to Maafushi and they picked us up from there around 8 p.m. I saw the staffs gave some foods for the cats and I think it was a plus that they care about the animal as well.
The bed was too hard for us, luckily we could sleep well. 2x cleaning a day is not necessary in our opinion. The foods were just okay but could be much better.

Verified reviewThe hotel was exceptionally clean, with housekeeping provided at least twice a day. The staff were incredibly hospitable and made sure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay throughout. They also arranged our airport transfers both upon arrival and departure, which was a great convenience. Bed was comfortable, air conditioner worked well without noise. The location is just a 3-minute walk to Bikini Beach—and the hotel provides sunbeds upon request. I especially enjoyed the restaurant; the Asian dishes were a true culinary discovery, and the European cuisine was equally delicious.

Verified reviewThe staff is super friendly! They are all very kind and they are always so happy to assist you!! They all are the best!!
The hotel is very good but it is not a 9.4 compared to other hotels with a 9.4 rate. It is however one of the best hotels in Gulhi, which btw, skip it if you have the choice. This island doesn’t worth the stay, there is nothing to do there. And you won’t even like the surroundings. So, The hotel changes the towels every 3 days! And they clean twice a day the room, but they don’t mop. I spilled my coffee and the stains were there for 2 days. I don’t even know if they changed the sheets at all..

Verified reviewLovely room, jacuzzi bath and spacious balcony. The staff were very friendly and there was a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. The food was delicious and the chef even cooked the fish we caught on a sunset fishing trip. Sunbeds and umbrellas were available free of charge on the bikini beach.
The air con could have been cooler but this seems to be a common thing in the Maldives.

Verified reviewWe had a 2 bedroom suite and it was lovely. Very clean and kept well during our stay. The hotel is lovely and the staff in the restaurant were very friendly. Our room balcony was lovely to sit out on during the day. The passion fruit juice in arrival was lovely and the staff took a beach umbrella and beds to the bikini beach when we wanted to go there. Filter water was kept topped up. Aircon worked well and wasn't noisy.
A little on the pricey side and not lots of good options for food but what we had was nice. Water pressure in the shower wasn't great. A choice of eggs at breakfast would have been appreciated. The island is currently undergoing construction so there is lots of building work with associated noise. Will be lovely when it's finished. Cost US$25 each to get there from the airport on a speedboat which as a family of 5 worked out expensive for us on top of an already expensive room. Not lots of choice of activities at a reasonable price and quite restrictive but there are other tour companies on the island and online.

Verified reviewI liked everything about this property. Given that I had an international flight on the last day of my stay, I did not want to be on a remote island with one or two ferries a day and a 3h ride. If the sea is rough, you may miss your flight. Speedboats to Gulhi take 30 minutes, and there are several a day. The hotel establishes contact with guests long before they arrive: you can check in online and tell them when you arrive, so they can plan the transfer. I was sent a speedboat just for myself, so I did not have to spend two hours on the airport, and paying on the hotel bill meant a saving of 10 USD. Staff pick you up in the little port, and you are checked in swiftly. The modern deluxe room with a balcony is spacious, super-clean, and stylish. Guests have a king-size bed, a desk, and a well-stuffed minibar (though everything in it is sugary...). I was a little worried that it might be noisy but you do not hear anything after 9pm. The Maldivian receptionists (or owners?) and the staff in the restaurant and kitchen, coming from India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Nepal, and the Philippines, are lovely. They always greet you with a smile. I had breakfast (a buffet, included in the price) and dinner in the hotel restaurant, all excellent. Actually, the tuna or beef steaks are cooked to perfection. Regarding the location, Ocean View is situated about 200 m from the Bikini Beach and opposite three companies specialised in snorkel and diving excursions. On the way to the beach, you pass souvenir stalls. Gulhi is a small island; you can walk around it in ca. 30 minutes. It is worth doing this and see the colourful houses of locals, the mosque, and some shops (also selling alcohol-free beer). The island is very peaceful, not like Maafushi with lots of youngsters, bodies piled up on the beach, and noisy parties. That means that demand for excursions is lower, but I was lucky to get a half-day tour, including dolphin watching, turtle point, coral garden, and a sandbank lunch.
Nothing really, a superb hotel that exceeded my expectations. If I could make one suggestion: have a proper fridge for beverages in the restaurant. If ordered at dinner, they arrive cool-ish, but not cold. Also, a few more coke or 7up zeros in the room would be welcome, though you can get these in shops and store them in your hotel room fridge, ice-cold. Currently, there are only three hotels in Gulhi, but new ones are built. Yes, beaches are currently also being extended, but I just hope that Gulhi does not lose its peaceful setting and become crowded.

Verified reviewLocation was perfect, staff is friendly, kind and courteous, hotel is modern and has great amenities. The beach is super close and the hotel kindly helped with arranging daily visits for the guests and well as transport from and to Malé. I will definitely be back! Thank you 😊
The buffet options were limited, especially compared to the à la carte menu which is super varied. Very few vegetarian options, but I would’ve definitely struggled if I had been vegan.
