How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewStayed here for 1 night to catch the plane the next morning. I’m glad I stayed there for 1 night. Has hot shower. 2x clean towels provided. Comfortable bed. Water provided. Close to the beach. The beach is dirty as hell. Full of trash on the sand.
Very POOR communication. I booked this place 6 days in advance sent them message about 3x no reply. They took about 4 days to reply back. There WhatsApp number doesn’t work on WhatsApp. Room was dirty, dust on rubbish, tv and remote. I booked a room with terrace, there was no terrace, it was view of concrete and construction sight. Shampoo provided Body wash bottles not working. Very noisy at night felt like rats moving in the ceiling and noise felt like someone was trying to open the door. The hotel is not fully build. There’s no lift. You’ve to enter the hotel reception from the cafe. There’s no sign on the cafe door that says you’ve to enter through the cafe. Wifi not working throughout the stay. Told 4 different people nothing was done. In my price free breakfast was included, they won’t prepare or leave early breakfast if you’re leaving very early. Unpleasant staff, No smile no greetings. There’s a tv in the room which doesn’t work at all. I had to leave for airport at 5am. There’s no sign on the desk that says a receptionist or someone will be around to open the lock doors. When I came down to check out at 5am the lights was turned off, peak dark, no sign or phone number give to ring if any thing. The receptionist was sleeping when he woke up for me trying to open the lock door. It was a panic encounter as I thought i was locked it and would miss my flight. The receptionist called a taxi for me to go the airport. When arrived to the hotel and was time to make payment they told me I had to pay extra chargers if I had to make payment in there currency rufyaas, if I used card I had to pay 5% chargers. You had to ask them for wifi password they don’t give you any housekeeping or stay instructions. No toilet paper provide.

The room was not clean, and the bed was uncomfortable. Additionally, the staff at the front desk seemed unfriendly and unhelpful. Verified reviewFaysel from Express Inn in Hulhumalé provided us with excellent service at every moment. From the moment we arrived, Jassa, Faysel, and the ladies helped us with cleaning the rooms, preparing the breakfast, serving delicious mocktails, and offering tasty Indian dishes they make themselves. The location was perfect, close to the beach and many nice restaurants. There was some disturbance due to construction work, but they had informed us about it in advance. They are currently upgrading the building with a lift and a rooftop terrace. Overall, it was a wonderful experience!

The breakfast was plain. The service was under standard. Keep in mind that when you book the hotel, your card information will be stored. But they will only allow you to pay cash at the hotel. Payment with credit card can be done with a 5% charge.

Two male staff in the reception on my check in day, were so impolite and when my card couldn’t work I could tell they were irritated and not even that much patient. No smiling or nothing. So unprofessional!!! The guy that “supposed” to give me a tour of the room and explain a bit how everything works, dropped the luggage in front of the door and left saying in a really rude way: “THAT’S YOUR ROOM” by just pointing and then left. He didn’t explain anything about: WiFi, check in/check out timing, breakfast timing ecc…. Where in other hotels with the same pricing they give you an exceptional service. So disappointing.

Verified reviewThe hotel is still under construction, no privacy whatsoever, they should keep the hotel closed until they are finished with construction. Scaffoldings were blocking the view, we got sea view room and scaffolding was blocking it, the constructions workers were working on those and could see our room and toilet now privacy

Verified reviewThere’s no telephone in the room, and if you need something, you need to go down to the receptionist and ask them. No tissue refilling; the staff is unpleasant. Only 1 waiter from Nepal was kind. For the amount of money, you can find a better hotel with good service and value for customers. Exactly before 12.00 PM, someone knocked on my door and asked to check out as soon as possible in a rude way. You need to bring cash with you because at restaurants they only receive cash.

Verified reviewThe staff needs to be more concerned about the customer's service. They were going to charge me for one more additional day if it wasn't for the intervention of booking.com customer support. Overall they were okay though. But not as expected.
