Thank you, Gaskara Guesthouse, and thank you, Maroshi Island, for this unforgettable experience! The guesthouse rooms are simple but well-equipped, and the bathroom is spacious. While room service isn’t available, you’ll enjoy a delicious breakfast, with options including continental, American, or a traditional local breakfast. Some of the ingredients even come from fresh produce grown right in front of the guesthouse — such a unique touch! Maroshi Island is a peaceful, non-touristy destination, with a population of around 500 people. The guesthouse is the only accommodation here, and my mother and I were the only tourists on the island. There are no bars or cafes, but you can find three small markets. You can also enjoy meals at the guesthouse. A few things to note: • There isn’t a private beach, so it’s recommended to wear long swimwear and cover up with clothes during the day. • The beaches and palm areas have some litter, as there isn’t much maintenance, but the palm tree beach is stunning. It’s a great spot for snorkeling, where you can explore vibrant underwater life — this was definitely the highlight of my trip! • A sign at reception mentions fines for public displays of affection, but I’m not sure how strictly this is enforced. They did say it’s fine if you’re alone on the beach. • Additionally, there’s a daily tax of $6 per person, and a service fee to keep in mind. The island gives the feeling of being on a secluded, almost deserted paradise. It was even quieter during Ramadan, adding to the peaceful atmosphere. Maazin showed us around the island, sharing fascinating stories, including the history of an ancient tree over 400 years old. The staff at the guesthouse were incredibly helpful in organizing transportation and made us feel very comfortable and welcome throughout our stay. If you’re traveling on a budget and crave a serene escape without any hustle and bustle, this place is your perfect paradise!

The guest house could include authentic Maldivian food on the restaurant menu

Our recent 3-night stay at Gaskara Guest House in Shaviyani Maroshi turned out to be a commendable choice for travelers looking for solid value for their money. From the beginning, the most notable aspect was the level of comfort our accommodations provided. The rooms were not just cozy but also came equipped with sufficient amenities to meet our needs, ensuring a restful and enjoyable stay. The staff at Gaskara Guest House were particularly remarkable for their welcoming nature and helpfulness. Their eagerness to assist with any queries or needs greatly enhanced our experience, making it even more pleasant and smooth. The facilities at Gaskara Guest House were reasonable and well-maintained, providing everything necessary for a comfortable stay without the frills but with a clear focus on delivering good value. The guest house’s location further contributed to its allure, especially with the nearby beach being one of the highlights of our visit. The beach was impeccably clean, featuring pristine sands and crystal-clear waters that were perfect for both relaxation and engaging in leisure activities. Moreover, the spotless streets in the vicinity of the guest house reflected the local community’s commitment to cleanliness and environmental care, enhancing our strolls around the area.
