Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We had a fantastic stay at Jail Break, Amin and the crew were great and made us feel so at home. The room had everything we need and the meals were delicious. Amin went above and beyond to help us arrange activities and trips and it was great to have the boat trips to the surf breaks included. Thank you so much for a memorable week!

AustraliaWiFi was slow but honestly was nice to not have it. The rooms weren’t in the best shape but functioned and was enough.
Staff were very helpful and hospitable. The free breakfast fuelled you for the included morning surf boat. All we did was surf surf surf and this Joseph was perfect for this. You could also add an afternoon boat for only 10 usd. If you wanted to surf before, between or after, jail break is only a 5 minute easy walk and a sharp paddle out. If you are there to surf I would recommend this place. It has what you need.

Netherlands-
You meet a lot of nice likeminded people there as everyone is there to surf. The accommodation is basic but provides what you need. 1 boat trip to the surf and breakfast, for an extra charge you can add lunch and dinner too. Amin is such a nice guy, he will be always there to help you.

AustraliaThe rooms are very basic, which we knew. At first our room the toilet didn't work and the bed was rock hard. But they moved us and it was much better!
Jailbreak Inn is the best budget place to visit in the Maldives for surfing, vibes, meeting people from around the world and doing day trips for snorkelling, fishing and visiting other Islands. We stayed for 6 nights and had lots of great waves, made friends and did fishing, swimming with stingrays and a full day trip to thulusdhoo with friends we made at the Inn. Everyday you get a surf trip included, and then ypu can choose to pay for another one in the afternoon orndo another excusion. I would highly recommend Jailbreak if you are keen to experience somewhere authentic in the Maldvies that is not just the postcard resort Islands you always see being promoted. There is so much more to it, and you get that here. This family owned place is so sweet. You can choose to have breakfast, lunch and dinner included. We did breakfast and dinner. The breakfast is very basic, and the dinner was usually rice, pasta, salad or potatoes and tuna (so yummy!). Amine the owner is always happy to help organise trips for you on whatsapp. He is cool and his young daughter is also very happy to chat! I want to go back already and If I ever go back to maldives, this is where it will be. Don't expect 4 star, this is basic accomodation, bring your own soap and soak in all there is to Himmafushi!

Polandthank you for the stay and tasty breakfasts, your island is more beautiful than Ghuli, although we now have a fancy hotel on Ghuli Island and in your Gesthaus it was better. The climate of Himmafushi Island is amazing, greetings to all, two stupid blondes with whom no one could communicate 😊

AustraliaThe communication with the host is almost non-existence and seemed unwilling to help with any local information on tours or ferry timetables. Theres no hot water (which is important to some people) don't think this is mentioned in their blurb. No extra towels for beach.
Location was great. Close to Bikini Beach, cafes etc. The island is small so everywhere is close for walking to. Beds were comfortable, shower water pressure was good. Air-conditioning worked well. Dining area was a comfortable area to hang out and chill. Drinking water supplied by a cooling dispenser. One evening meal is provided free of charge which was great & tasty.

IndiaThe Bed is not comfortable. It has a hard type of mattress. Rest all great with this place. Go for it.
The facilities are the best of all that are available. Very budget friendly. They took us to Fishing, Island hopping, Sand bank free of cost. Daily they keep an activity for all the guests together in group outings without charge. This is the best budget place you could look for. Service is very good as well. Location is great too, just near to the ferry and speed boat point and nearby to the airport. Can reach the airport from himmafushi by speed boat in 20min. They also guided us to take the 6.30am speed boat to catch an 8am flight, and this was the best decision, saving a lot of money. Also allowed us to use the kitchen to prepare small ready to eat meals like Maggie, and tea, coffee, etc. Room service is also good, staff are friendly and helpful too.

New ZealandThis year, the accommodation was a little too crowded for the infrastructure they've got. Couple of nights there were no chairs available for everyone to have dinner. And some boat trips were too crowded as well. Some locals looked at us in a unpleasant way. We were there the first 2 weeks of September. This was the first time it had happened. Normally is less people.
It was our 5th time there. It's a surfcamp where the vibe is surf, surf, surf. It could be a little basic for some people, but once you had a great sesh...who cares? Food is buffet style and good. We had one boat trip everyday for free for the local breaks. There are more boats trips during the day and, it only USD10 pp. Other islands charge at least USD20 pp. Staff always friendly and helpful. The owner Ameen and his family always makes us feel welcomed. This is why we see familiar faces every year. The rooms are quite spacious, and the beds are comfortable. Himmafushi Island is very consistent, it can be a little crowded but you always find your waves. Overall it's a great place to stay for a very good price. Maldives became more affordable than Indonesia!

New ZealandI didn't like it when we had to leave. It's always sad. 😔
It's our 5th time at Jail's. The place is basic, but the vibe is amazing! It's a real surf camp with good food, good staff, amazing waves close by. The owner and his family are always welcoming, and you make friends straight away. I don't recommend this place for honeymooners or who likes a little luxury. The vibe is surf, surf, surf.
