Dear Ovidiu, Thank you for your feedback, though we are disappointed by several false and misleading claims in your review. You booked a Budget Single Room at Surf Trip Maldives, and we provided exactly that in clean and proper condition. This is a budget guesthouse, and for the rate of USD 35 per night, it is unrealistic to expect facilities such as a bathtub or luxury amenities. Your booking was under a Room Only plan. Despite that, we offered 2 complimentary cups of tea/coffee daily as a kind gesture, not an obligation. It is unfortunate that instead of appreciating this, you complained about the number of cups. Complimentary items, by nature, are limited. Regarding kitchen access, this too was not part of your booking, but we allow guests to use it free of charge—something most hotels do not permit. Multiple guests use the shared kitchen, and we expect all guests to maintain cleanliness after use. Our staff cleans regularly, but it's not feasible to clean it after every use instantly. We also strongly object to your comment about our staff "begging" for reviews. This is false and unfair. Our team only requests honest feedback, and such comments harm their integrity without reason. Please choose your words more carefully in the future. On the bathtub issue, we acknowledge a past listing error, which has been corrected. No bathtub images were ever shown, and such a facility is not feasible in this price range. Thank you for pointing this out. Lastly, regarding the building, all rooms—including Budget Single Rooms—are in our own property buildings. You were not placed in any alternate or lower-standard location. Please base your review on the actual room and services you used. It appears your expectations were more in line with a 4-star resort, and we recommend booking accordingly in the future to avoid such misunderstandings. Within our price range, we strive to provide one of the best-value stays, especially considering our prime location just steps from the beach and popular surf spots. Our rooms are simple and clean, aimed at backpackers, surfers, and budget travelers who value affordability and authenticity over luxury. Regarding the mention of mold – we regularly maintain and inspect all our rooms, and no such complaints have been received from other guests. Had we been made aware during your stay, we would have addressed the issue immediately. We take cleanliness seriously and act promptly whenever maintenance is required. As for the kitchen – while use of the kitchen is not included in the booking, we allow guests to use it free of charge as a courtesy. Feedback on pots and pans is noted, though it’s worth mentioning that this is an added bonus, not a standard facility we promote. Finally, we’d like to clarify that our review rating is not a fluke. It’s the result of hard work, dedication, and the trust of over 200 guests who have stayed with us and appreciated the value we offer. While we respect your opinion, a couple of negative reviews won’t outweigh the positive experiences shared by so many of our valued guests.
