Simply put, this is a truly magnificent place to stay in Maldives and there’s hardly anything one can compliant about. We visited The Residence in February, and it has been a fabulous experience. The island is conveniently located within a short boat ride from the local airport of Koodoo but at the same time warrants a feeling that you’re in a secluded paradise hideaway. It’s large enough so that you never feel it’s crowded and at the same time small enough to get from one end to another within a few-minutes bike ride (well-maintained bikes are provided complimentary for each villa). Beaches are beautiful with powder like sand, clean (though we’ve occasionally seen some debris) and the whole island enjoys lush greenery with hundreds of palm trees providing much desired shade and the jungle-like experience. The west side of the island seems a bit prettier due to spectacular green-blue shades of water; the east side of the island has seagrass at the bed which although very much needed to protect local ecosystems provides less spectacular water colours. The ability to go to the adjacent island via the wooden bridge connecting them is really nice and you can enjoy the sun at the sand bar located in between. The staff has been extremely nice and helpful, from the moment we’ve been taken over at the Male airport, through the journey to the island, at the reception, restaurants, water sports centre and everywhere else, we’ve always felt well taken care of. The villas are clean, extremely spacious (bathroom area is enormous), well maintained and equipped. Beds are comfortable, there’s plenty of seating area, AC and Wi-Fi work well, mini fridge is restocked every day. Again, the lush greenery separating villas in a very natural way provides privacy and shade, and most importantly the sea view is not obstructed. The private pool is amazing and provide the opportunity to cool off in the heat of the sun, at 1.

Nothing we didn’t like really

The selection of restaurants, food and drink. Staff welcoming. Facilities on both islands fabulous. Sunrise over water villa beautiful! Enjoyed cycling around the islands. Snorkelling amazing!

How long it took to get there Singapore due to long layover for transfers in male

There is not much to dislike however I chose this particular place because I know it was on a large atoll which allowed bike rides across the atoll, walks and runs ect. The staff in the dhigura dining room, particularly Hafiz, Warul and Micah were outstanding. Hafiz actually organized some very spicy dishes for me when he found out that I loved Sri Lankan food

The hotel is great: the room was fantastic and had anything we needed, and the views at sunset were so special. The food across all different restaurants was very good, and we had no issues getting bookings across both islands. The hotel staff was brilliant and super helpful.

Having to leave.

I really can’t say enough about how great our stay at The Residence at Dhigurah was. The island itself is beautiful and the reef offers amazing snorkelling. We swam with turtles and reef sharks almost every day, as well as many other colourful fish. The food was in the a la cart restaurants was excellent, but the main buffet dining room was so good that you’ll worry about what you might be missing out on if you eat elsewhere. There’s plenty to do around the resort, with various water sport activities and boat trips available, but it’s also easy enough to enjoy plenty of peace and quiet away from other guests if you choose to. This was our second visit to the Maldives, and although we had no complaints about the resort we stayed at previously, the staff at The Residence were head and shoulders above in terms of hospitality. They made us feel like royalty for the duration of our holiday.

Nothing, our stay was perfect.

We travelled for our honeymoon. Luxury hotel on a private island. Our villa was the best room we have ever stayed in, with our own private pool. Food was always amazing, all inclusive but we didn't get bored and there were plenty of options. Staff were so friendly and helpful!

Nothing negative to say

From start to finish this resort met our expectations and more. The island is large for the Maldives. It means the facilities are nicely spread out. Moving around is easy with the bikes provided to each villa. We had a sunset pool water villa which was amazing. The villa was huge and in great condition. Our standard all inclusive meal plan was very generous and the food was very high quality. The main dining room manager is Haviz. He could not have been more helpful and welcoming. He was always nearby and only too happy to help. The meal plan also included a lunch and dinner each week at one of the 3 other restaurants on the islands. This gave good high quality alternative eating options. We are divers and would like to thank Mike and the rest of the dive team. They laid on some very well organised and wonderful dives. The trips were not busy which is always nice. Overall a great visit and we would highly recommend.

Nothing to dislike about the property.

The location, villas and the staff were great! We both are vegan and the staff took very good care of us for the breakfast. Overall it was an excellent experience!

Nothing, it was literally perfect.

It was our honeymoon destination and there’s nothing I would’ve wished differently. I only wished we stayed longer because the place is a piece of heaven. We took the sunset villa, all the details were so well taken care of, the staff from the room service to the restaurants are so kind, efficient and helpful. They made our stay just great. The island is really calm and beautiful, with wonderful beaches. We had too many options to dine and have drinks over the beach, on both islands. I would 100% recommend this place based on pure authentic experience.

Resort is really big so getting around can take some time, but it's not necessarily a negative as it gives you a huge island to explore. Guest check-in should be done in your villa rather than at reception.

Easily the most attentive staff from any resort I've stayed at. They really take time to get to know each guest personally and remember every preference. Hafiz and the team at the Dining Room deserve a special mention. We had a sunset pool water villa and the room was amazing and so well serviced. Housekeeping staff were excellent.

I have the impression that this is a place with a lot of potential, but it is still four and a half stars and not five. There is a lack of such small elements which create luxury and prestige and it seems to me that the current hotel management is not able to achieve this. Among the absolute downsides I would include the completely missed opportunity to say goodbye to guests when you are treated like a sack of potatoes being thrown to reception and waiting for a boat and a plane - and all they can offer you at reception is water in plastic bottles. Nobody came to us after more than two weeks and asked us how we liked it, what comments we had, whether we would come back again - a complete missed opportunity and a bad impression at the end and a great contrast with the welcome so pompous.... Is it worth it to go here with big plane, national plane flight and the boat.. not now, not yet. The reception service is decent - not surprising with anything. Bicycles are available but it has to be said that most are in deplorable condition all parts are eaten away by sea salt and the bike seat collapses every time you try to get into a normal position. Among the biggest downsides, however, I would include the lack of beach cleaning and the large amount of rubbish that is in the Ocean. I am leaving aside the normal stuff from the flows which appears in the form of algae - I am rather talking about plastics, leftovers of clothes, cans and other human pollutants - and such stuff exists and lies discarded by the ocean near our cottage for five-six days and nobody cleans it up, then I think that it is the fault of the hotel and it has nothing to do with the image of the hotel and advertisements which promise paradise on the beach.

My family and I were there for 16 days so what can I say. Firstly fantastic impression at the start of the trip very Efficient pick up from the small airport walk to the boat and welcome on the bridge at the hotel and reception all very nice. The hotel itself is very large well organised of course connected to the other hotel to which you can cycle or go for a very long walk. The most important plus points of the hotel are the cottages which, without exception, all have a private pool about eight metres long but quite sufficient and the fact that these cottages are spacious and very comfortable, and on top of that they are actually 30 metres from the ocean and you feel very private. If you would only judge a holiday by where you live then everything is perfect. The food is good but not spectacular. The service is very friendly but generally no surprises if you have been to the Maldives before.

Nothing, it was the perfect honeymoon

We went to the Residence at Dhigurah for our honeymoon, it was simply superb. Each villa has a private pool, which was perfect for us and our infant son, and we stayed in a sunset villa for a week followed by a lagoon villa for a week. The views from both were phenomenal, the villas were clean and furnished impecably. The food is sensational and considering you have access to multiple dining rooms and bars across Dhigurah and Falhumaafushi, you never get bored as can pick and choose where to have breakfast and dinner. As Maldives islands go, it's pretty expansive in that respect. Staff were extremely friendly, thoughtful, remembered what coffees and wines we were drinking with breakfast and dinner respectively, always lavishing attention on our infant son including getting him fruit and bespoke baby dishes directly from the chef. Overall, it was the best holiday we have ever been on, and we would love to return in future to reminisce about how wonderful our honeymoon was.

I can't find anything bad to say about it, but we were there in the off-season and reservations were easy to get at all restaurants, so going at the end of September might be the best time to go！！

What can I say, the hotel rooms and facilities are new, clean and pleasant everywhere. The hotel staff were all friendly and their hearts were as clean as the ocean itself. The food is a lot for Japanese, but the all-inclusive meals are delicious with a lot of choices. It is great to be able to go back and forth between the two hotels every day to go to the restaurant of your choice.

We had few miscommunication, regarding internal flight, the all inclusive, number of guests... but every single tiny problem was immidiately and perfectly resolved...

over exceeding any of our expectations... There's no words to describe the kindness, professionalism, care, attention to explecit and implicit needs of their guests... Don't look anywhere else if the residence Dhigurah is within your budget, it's the best place to stay.
