How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The breakfast was a bit too basic, and they had very few staff to handle the tables. The staff did the best they could to serve adequately, but we had to clean the plates several times ourselves.

Breakfast was not good. Limited options and they are not even there. We had to find staff to ask for the juice, the milk... We had to even wash our own dishes.

We unfortunately spent a night in that apartment and it was really a very bad experience. The whole place is very dirty, barely and absolutely not enough maintained. Here are main defects, which made us to leave early: - messy and very dirty apartment - the broken window handle in the bathroom - it wasn’t possible to lock it, it means we felt very unsafe - molty blinds in the bedroom - just one and very dirty chair in the patio - broken chairs in the kitchen - extremely noisy fridge - dirt and simply disgusted feeling everywhere within apartment, all surfaces was sticky and everywhere were after painting stains - dirty and bad smelling sofa - cracked wooden terrace wood int the patio - dirty private pool in the patio - missing hair dryer - the big pool and deckchairs were stained by bird’s excrements - eating area was also very dirty, all dishes ( cups, glasses, cutleries) were stained and dirty - food was simply awful and undone

At the hotel, we offered you the option of changing your room with an upgrade, however, without adequately explaining the situation, you decided to leave the property. We are dismayed that you did not inform us of these points in advance before leaving. We are always available to help our guests have a pleasant and comfortable stay. Our rooms undergo complete inspections before being delivered to guests, and at check-in, we inform guests that they can mention any details so we can assist them. Our maintenance processes are ongoing to prevent deterioration of the rooms and the appliances included. Our reception desk is always available to receive comments and provide assistance as soon as possible. We would have loved to have done more for you and been able to commemorate your experience. Verified reviewBeautiful landscape, very tropical. Clean, large room with decent kitchen but not well stocked with salt/pepper, spices, dish towels or plastic containers. Nice shower with warm water. Washer/dryer great to have. Breakfast served on outdoor patio is good, best waffles. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Nice to have free bicycles.

Verified reviewProximity of eating spots nearby. Very comfortable beds, clean pretty rooms. Nice pool and its surroundings. Free bikes for the guests to use are really great because Tulum is perfect for biking in general.
The property seems larger and more polished in the pictures than in reality. It felt it needs better maintenance, many things were not neat, cracks in wall, stairs, bumpy wooden deck around the pool, sun chairs with bird poops, many small details which affect the overall quality of experience. There were consistently leaves in the pool due to the nearby deciduous trees - but we have seen the staff trying to clean it. The bikes they provide need to be checked once in a while if they offer them, their conditions were not ideal. It seemed first days guests had to wash their dishes after the breakfast but the last morning there was a staff member doing that, it only felt a bit like a hostel, not a big deal just little confusing.

Verified reviewThe complex is stylishly designed surrounded by a lot of trees and plants. The wood makes it look cosy. The deck garden rooms are spacious, with a private terrace with hammocks to chill on. Washing machine and hair dryer worked well. Bed was comfortable and good hot water pressure. Staff were helpful at reception and maintenance. Breakfast was good. We enjoyed the beach club access. Parking in front of hotel.
However, this hotel has a serious humidity and mould problem. As soon as you step close to the outer door, you immediately smell the humidity. Even though we opened everywhere, and put both the ACs on dehumidifier, the smell was still very strong. Green mould spores are visible on walls and ceilings, which is very unhealthy and concerning. Some clothes we left out, absorbed the smell. It is something which seriously you need to take into consideration. Also, i found it surprising that guests had to wash the breakfast plates and whatever they used during breakfast, in the sink provided. Not usual in hotels. Also, the private deck pool was only cleaned once after our arrival. It was full of leaves and debris, so we could only use it once. I think it's time for a renovation.

We received a different room for the second night, which had a locked connecting room with a sliding door, which was not soundproof. We heard everything from the adjacent room as though the guests were in our room. These rooms are definitely to avoid.

Half of the light bulbs were blown, some of the wall outlets didn’t work, the bath towels were stained. The staff wasn’t very fresh and certainly not helpful.

Breakfast was not great, rooms had no sound insulation. Accomodations are 3 bedroom apartments whose dividing doors are locked closed. There is not a real wall between you and neighbors, just a wood pocket door. Kitchen was not adequately stocked with silverware, glasses, etc.
