Nothing not to like ;) What could be a downside for some is that it's a bit further from the center / village; which comes with pro's and cons.

First of all the hosts Jose and Mia; they're extremely friendly and helpfull. They run the hotel with a lot of personal care and consideration. Besides that the garden and pool are great! It's a small and quiet place with a great athosphere. At 2 minute walking distance from the beach and close to a small shop and several restaurants. We had the large room above the kitchen for 2 adults and 2 kids and it was perfect <large, good beds, nice shower, balcony, fridge, coffee etc. I would certainly recommend the place for a stay on Holbox. Very good value for money.

Atenea HolBox was amazing. Host Mia and Jose are really amazing and welcoming, they helped us to fulfillment our needs. The location is really peaceful, two minutes from a beautiful and quiet beach! Room was big and comfy, hot water perfect! The location is about 20 min walking from downtown, but is not an issue since taxi are always available via whatsapp or via Mia or Jose. Taxi charge a flat fee of $10 USD or 200 pesos mx anywhere in the island. We walked the beach from Atenea HolBox (Playa Punta Cocos) to Punta Mosquito and was an amazing walk, with lots of bars and restaurants a long! I asked for Ice first night and since Jose always text me if I need ice!! Luv it! Breakfast was great and served in our asked time. We would definitely book again in Atenea HolBox!! AMAZING SUNSET FROM BALCONY!

Loved everything. Very simple. Clean. Gorgeous location. One minute walk to the beach. There’s a beach club right in front that doesn’t have a minimum spend. It’s a fifteen minute walk to town down the beach and twenty minutes back by road if it’s high tide. So we had peace and quiet and also for some casual exercise. We also visited the local dog shelter right in the town next to the softball field. Is the nicest shelter I’ve been to and you can take the dogs for walks or just go and play with them. The have a big space to roam around and they don’t feel caged and miserable. Loads of tourists would stop in and take a dog out. It was gorgeous.

I loved everything about Atenea. The only thing I would say is that maybe they could change up the breakfast offerings on occasion.

The location is peaceful, and the property is meticulously maintained. The owners & hosts, Jose and Mia, are warm, welcoming, gracious and incredibly responsive. They helped with all our questions and needs, transportation, excursions and restaurant recommendations. You will leave feeling well cared for, and that you have made new cherished friends.

In general, Holbox is an island that is in need of better infrastructure development. However, once on the beautiful, gorgeous, unique beach, it doesn't matter much. We stayed mostly on the beach side, and found ourselves a couple of great restaurants nearby that did not require much walking through the inner parts of town. I would recommend Atenea for its calm away from the central town.

This hotel is an oasis of calm, friendliness, peace, and beauty. The host and hostess greeted us warmly, were great and responsive communicators, and our room was large, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast was prepared to order each morning, on time, and was plentiful to begin a day on the island. The evenings were peaceful, the pool was clean and cool. There were lounge chairs outside to relax in, and plenty of space to take it easy.

The hosts were awesome, couldn't do enough to make sure we had a great time. Organised taxis/excursions/meals with ease. The property is beautiful and quiet, rooms are airy and spacious and a 2min walk from beautiful beach. The walk to town is 20-25minutes. We enjoyed it and didn't use any taxis bar our trips to offload luggage. It's a nice stroll and in the day can be done along the beach, later in the day by foot as the tide comes in.

The hosts Mia & José were really welcoming and engaged to make our stay on the island Holbox the best. They had plenty of honest and great recommendations, not trying to convince us to do anything or making impossible promises but realistic and according to our wishes. It's like being in paradise. The room with sea view and the hotel with it's pool, rooftop and breakfast-option are beautiful. It has a calm surrounding and is just a minute walk to the beach. It's a bit off the beaten path, which was perfect for us, we prefered to have the empty white beach for us anyways and didn't mind the walks to get to the restaurants and shops. The center of Holbox seemed rather noisy and hectic.

5 stars all around! Jose and Mia are exceptional hosts—attentive, welcoming, and genuinely care about ensuring your satisfaction. As an architect, I appreciated the spacious rooms and the attention to detail in design and compliance. The hotel is just 2 minutes from the beach and close to the bioluminescent bay. We also enjoyed getting to know Jose and Mia better—they’re fascinating people. I highly recommend Atenea and thank them for their amazing hospitality!

The hotel is very nicely furnished. The owners are super nice and supportive, speaks really good English. The hotel is not in the center, but you can reach the center within 30 minutes walk, although there are restaurants close to the hotel, so you don’t even need to go to the center. The beach, which is 100m from the hotel is very calm and the sea is beautiful.

The hotel is not too big and because of that it was much more easy to meet other guests. The rooms are spacious and very nicely decorated. The daily breakfast was great as well. The hotel is located a bit far from the center but you can easily take a taxi. The hosts are so kind, helpful and welcoming. They always make sure you have everything you need! I would definitely come again!

It is nice and quiet here, but if you want to be in the centrum, it is a 15-20 min walk. But this is a good feature. No loud music or rowdy tourists.

José was one of those hosts that foes the extra miles for his customers. Great reception anfd help throughout our stay. Even enjoy a lobster meal and an early morning power training session on the rooftop.

To me this hotel is the perfect place to relax, enjoy the sunrise, sunset and everything else Holbox offers.The rooms in this place are brand new, beautiful design, spacious with balcony’s. The pool , the rooms and the entire place is very clean something very important to me . The customer service is 100% satisfaction. They offers free ride from the ferry , they explain everything I needed to know about this unique island. This hotel is steps away from restaurants, beach clubs and I was very happy to walk around and discover that Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean see are getting connected right there very near , bare foot walking distance . I’ll be back soon for more days exactly to hotel Atenea just because I fall in love with Holbox, with the hospitality of the management of this hotel, and definitely because of everything else I just share with the future guests. I’m happy to recommend highly this location and this hotel and I’m responsible for my review ❤️🦶🏝️ It’s not a regular place where you go to sleep it’s place that offers so much more. It feels the owners care a lot about us, the tourist to have full experience not only to offer us place not to get wet if it’s raining. Located by right the beach with amazing views from The hotel room and access to rooftop! Perfect for morning yoga, a workout, or just admiring sunrise and sunset :). The hotel is brand new, clean, comfy and has everything you need. Very soft towels! IThe staff is very friendly and accommodating! Walking distance to downtown. I can't wait to stay here again!
