How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe staff, the location, the price, all good. It is ideal for a solo traveler on a budget. Basic facilities. Shared bathroom and kitchen. Hot water. A small dipping pool. It's a safe place, people are nice and helpful. Everything is walkable. Local market, supermarket and Santander ATM one block, el centro/plaza 4 blocks. Good restaurants and coffee three blocks, ADO bus 7 blocks. Colectivo to Chichen Itza 7 blocks. Cenote two blocks.
I have stayed in way better places for the price, even in Merida. The room was a bit too small. Packing and unpacking gets crampy. Hanging clothes were a bit difficult due to flimsy plastic wall hooks. The kitchen has gross unused/old/disintegrating stuff stored on top of the fridge, and doesn't have a kettle or basic vessels (but too many plates and cups). The indoors gets really damp when it rains. The shared bathroom is so small that to get out after a shower, you have to jump over or brush the toilet, which is kind of gross. The hot-normal water control on the shower doesn't work. Either it's super hot or cold.

Verified reviewI love the garden surrounding the property making it cool and bearable in the heat and the fan in the room was enough. Location is decent. Staff were friendly 😊
Water pressure is a bit weak on the sink and shower head. Electric outlet needed a pin 📌 to keep the «on» button on so a bit hard to use.

Verified reviewThe little pool and garden area were lovely and the staff were very helpful. Was close to Cenote Zaci and some nice cafes/restaurants (Pak'al Cafe and Loncheria Olich)
The mattress and pillow were very firm and uncomfortable in the private room and the shower had very little water pressure, made it hard to get wet. Didn't use the kitchen but was very small and had quite used pans.

Verified reviewI was able to leave my luggage for the day, which was good.
Entering the room I realised I had made a mistake. I was travelling on a budget, and should have stayed in a hostel dorm room instead of here. The room was damp, so humid, everything I touched was clammy and my clothes just got damp, there was a metal piece sticking out of the plug socket above the bed, which I pointed out to the guy who checked me in, he just told me not to use that one, so I didn't use the socket at all, I had to plug everything in across the other side of the room. The room had insects, despite the fly screens, the bed was uncomfortable, and as stated the sheets were damp. Do yourself a favour and stay in a shared hostel room for the same price, but have more comfort.

Verified reviewThe host was very nice! The place is pretty and comfortable, and location is the best. They have a parking space behind a locked gate, but I think it's only space for one car. Otherwise there is parking on the street.
As many cheap places is Yucatán, the rooms smells pretty bad from being moist. It would be helpful to mark in the shower which handle is for hot/cold water. With blue/red tape or something.

Verified reviewNice quaint little hostel. It has a very small pool or largish spa, depending on how you see it, which was handy to cool down in. The owner was very nice and helpful. It was comfortable for our one night.
A little out of town say 12 minute walk which is not much, but it's a small town and there were no real restaurants or oxxos to get food/drink in near by. The room size was standard and the mattress was OK.

Verified reviewAbsolutely fantastic staff!! We had a very thorough explanation on food and activities in the area upon check in. We had booked a room without AC and with a shared bathroom but given the heat we were upgraded at no cost when an AC room with private bathroom became available. We were also offered a free load of laundry as we were staying four nights. The accommodation is a short walk to the town square and a one minute walk to Cenote Zaci. The streets surrounding were well lit and we felt very comfortable walking around early in the morning and at night. The facilities are basic but clean and had everything required to prepare basic meals.

Verified reviewFriendly personnel, well-furnished kitchen, cozy territory
Very small bathroom at the end of a narrow corridor. Our room was very close to the entrance, it did not feel like much personal space given no air conditioning thus open windows.

Verified reviewWe upgraded our room to one with aircon and a private bathroom so we got a bit more space and it was great in the heat. The room even had a hammock which was a fun touch. The staff were very nice and helpful. The area was quiet and the outdoor area in the hostel was cute. It was easily walkable to the centre of town and a few shops.
The kitchen was not that well equipped and didn't seem that clean. The private bathroom was very small and cramped and the tap did not work that well.
