Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaI didn't like that they just assumed we used Whatsapp and sent our confirmation info that way. We never saw it until 2 days after we arrived. It would have made it a lot easier to check in at 2am if we had known which unit was ours. The beds are HORRIBLE!!! They have the hardest beds I've ever slept on in Mexico. The pillows were cheap also. In addition, they did not use a fitted sheet on the bed. The flat sheet they used wasn't long enough to tuck under all 4 sides. This meant we had a sheet bunched up under us or tangled around our feet every night. The addition of a mattress topper, fitted sheets, and better quality pillows is a cheap, easy fix and would have elevated my rating a lot. Some of the silverware was dirty in the drawer, which is completely disgusting. Things should be washed thoroughly after each guest checks out. The wifi went out every day from around midnight to 9 or 10 am. This greatly impacted our stay, since we like to use the internet to plan our daily activities over coffee in the mornings. The shoreline around Half Moon Bay is very rocky and makes it really dangerous to access the water here. The unit is a long way from Akumal village, so we had to pay for parking every time we went out to eat because it was too far to walk. (There is only one restaurant within walking distance.) The bathroom was tiny! The shower is 2 feet by 2 feet and is 6 inches lower than the rest of the bathroom. We almost fell countless times because this drop is only inches from the toilet. Our rental included 1 roll of paper towel, 1 1/2 rolls of toilet paper, no Kleenex, and 0 extra trash bags. If you want any supplies refilled it's $16USD. This is ridiculous. For 2 people for a week we had a partial roll of toilet paper and 1 spare roll. Needless to say, it ran out on day 4. We purchased a 4 pack, and left 2 and 1/2 rolls there when we checked out.
Icela was wonderful! She is so kind and patient. We loved that we were walking distance to Yalku Lagoon (1 km). We enjoyed the well-appointed kitchen, including a blender and regular-size fridge. Huge bonus points for the cooler!

SwedenThe studio is located in North akumal. To take a taxi to akumal 1.5 km cost 200 pesos due to a toll boot on the road. There are just a few restaurants close to the studio so you need to get to akumal to eat out.
Nice to be close to the beach. The studio does not face the sea. Good equipped small kitchen

United StatesNothing to complain about from me. Somethings a picky traveler might say. It says Do not flush toilet paper I accidentally did on more than one occasion and everything was fine now problems. But it was posted on a little sign by TP roll
Perfect little casita. Two Full size beds (very firm/hard) but was fine with me. Small kitchenette with essentials, refrigerator/freezer (good) 5 gallon drinking water with pump. Nothing fancy but just perfect . Snorkeling right off the beach out to coral reef Great/cool restaurants/coffee shop/convenient store with necessities including beer and liquor I will definitely be back.

CanadaThe beds are really hard and uncomfortable, Luke warm showers, the beach was covered in seaweed.. so we were very disappointed considering there was no pool.
The unit was ground floor, which was convenient to get to the beach. There were a Few restaraunts near by that we accessed with our golf cart rental. Icela was nice enough to lend us a beach umbrella which was perfect to visit akumal beach. The location is quiet if that's what you're looking for.

United StatesSomething must be done about the bathroom. The odor of sewage coming from the bathroom cannot be understated. Despite covering the drains, shutting the doors, and putting fragrance sachets out, the foul smell pervaded even into the bedroom. I would suggest a plumber and an air purifier at the minimum. The bathroom was the only bad thing about the property, everything else was wonderful but that one thing was very bad. It was as if sleeping next to a septic tank. I feel bad to say anything because everything else was so good, but something must be done.
The room was beautiful with many kind amenities. We loved the decor and it was very clean. The location was pretty good. It was on the beach and the chairs were available to use. The snorkeling was a bit of a far swim from the property but we didn't actually get to snorkel because the swim was too far. There was netflix and beachtowels and sand toys and a blender.

MexicoThe space is small, so not entirely best value for money. No view of the beach from the property.
The place is close to the beach, and right in the middle of Half Moon Bay, so close to restaurants and activities. Decor is cute. The kitchen was functional and worked well. There was coffee in the fridge, which was a nice touch.

United StatesThe location of the property is good, the rest of our experience was terrible and disgusting. This place is a very little house at the back of the building, it looks like something that was used by the housekeepers in the past. Upon arrival the unit had a terrible smell, a mixture of a sewer and mold. We opened all windows and doors trying to get rid of the smell. Later we discovered a small amount of water on the floor of the kitchen and by the entrance wall. The water was the source of the smell of the sewer. I contacted the property manager and the owner, but no one was responding. I cleaned the water and hoped the smell would disappear. It was late, around 9pm, and we wanted to sleep. The manager started to respond and came to the property. New puddles of smelly water started to appear, some maintenance guy came and looked. They closed some valves somewhere and promised no more water would come. It was close to midnight by that time. They assured us they had no other options to relocate us, and we could not find another place to stay at that late hour, so we decided to go to sleep. We woke up a few hours later around 2am. It was raining heavily outside. The smell in the room became unbearable and almost the entire floor was covered in sewer water. We were sleeping in feces. My older daughter had to go and sleep in the car. The other daughter was still sleeping. Me and my wife were trying to contact property and looking for another place to stay for a few hours. By 6am our entire family was up and packed in the car. By 9 am the property manager replied that they are sorry. By 10am they say that they are working on the issue but by that time we were long gone. The property manager is only responsible for the maintenance of the property and can’t answer anything about booking or cancellation, so I’m contacting the owner who is very slow to respond. Now 10 days later I’m still hoping to get my money back. I had to find another place to stay, whatever was available a

United StatesWe had a ground floor room and the Room and bathroom had tiny cockroaches it was horrible... We killed five roaches the first day and two the next. We were told it was bc they were fumigating before. But it was awful... Perhaps the higher floor rooms would've been better but I would not take the ground floor room.
Very responses and helpful with check in and information about akumal. Room was cute and it was cleaned Good location But ...
