Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

MexicoThe main drawback of the hotel is that it actually doesn't have a beach. Given the beauty of Ixtapa beaches, it is a big loss. There is a very small area that is accessible from the hotel, and nicely appointed with a hammock, swings and a big bed, to sit by the sea. But one cannot go into the water there, as it is full of large stones and dangerous. While the hotel can do nothing about the beach, there is a big issue that needs improvement, and that is the availability of drinking water. They do provide small water bottles and they are very nice when asked to fill guests' own bottles from the filter. But the problem is that there are no public filters or drinking fountains anywhere. I believe the comfort of guests would be greatly improved (not to talk about the environment!) if the hotel provided a means for guests to access purified water at least on every floor. It felt somewhat anguishing, knowing that we might run out of drinking water in the middle of the night - and would have to go to the reception to ask for a bottle! Also, what is the need to have speakers above every bed around the pool, and over every table at the seaside restaurant? One day, it was techno-pop, while on another, it was disco nonstop. By the beach, one feels like hearing the sea, isn't it?
The rooms are exceptional, with very large bathrooms / walk-in closets, and terraces with individual swimming pools and sofas. All the rooms have extraordinary views of the ocean and everything one could possibly need, as well as evening turning-down service that includes little local sweets. Service was excellent throughout, whether it be in the restaurants or at the reception. Well-thought details like offering cool drinks by the poolside. Very good, very fresh food at the restaurants, with many options and beautifully presented. Great areas around the infinity pools, well appointed and comfortable, with wonderful views of the ocean below. The area outside is great for biking (the hotel lends bikes to guests) and there is a beautiful nature reserve to run or bike closeby.

United StatesJust would like to note, at times, the wait for food could be quite long. The staff was always going as quickly as possible so it seemed like it was due to the property being full with other travelers
The staff was friendly and wonderful. Our room was clean and the grounds were well kept.

United StatesThe hotel is quite far from Ixtapa and Zihuatenejo so you'd need a taxi or car to get anywhere else other than the resort. This meant we had most meals in our room or at the hotel. The food was okay...but quite inconsistent. The drinks were also inconsistent between pool ordering (least best), room service, and at dinner.
The views are to die for and the room is so lovely and luxurious. The staff was friendly and helpful and the personal plunge pools were amazing.

GermanyThe included "american breakfast" could be a bit more than 2 different dishes. In gerenal I think the fare is quite high for Ixtapa and the wine prices on the menu are way overpriced.
Hotelroom is awesome, it has everything you need. View is amazing. The room service is perfect and the food of the menu is really delicious! In gerenal the staff is super helpful and nice. Also the pool areas is very relaxing and the service at the pool is great.

United StatesThe private pool even at highest temp is 70 degrees (F). It was great on a hot afternoon but at night (when I wanted to use it), it was too cold. The bathrooms only have a tiny shower and no tub. Like the size showered you'd see in a small hotel room in NYC or something. No romantic showers or long soaks in a tub to relax. You really notice it because of the cold private pool (not a hot tub). The site touts a personal assistant but they didn't respond or check the WhatsApp messages. Even when I called to ask for the evening delivery to be left on the balcony because I had a work meeting with a client in Korea, the message wasn't relayed and the staff member just banged and banged on the door. The size and price of the hotel should translate into not having those problems.
The private pool and balcony was amazing. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. The views were spectacular. I loved the guacamole and beers delivery every night. The seafood restaurant was exceptional.

United StatesIt seems hard to provide anything negative, so we are reaching here...there isn't really a bar to socialize at. The wifi seemed to work but there were some functions on our laptops that didn't go through. The WhatsApp personal assistant is a good tool, but sometimes it took a bit of time, for example, just to get ice, or to have the staff flip the button to heat the spa (which every room has, so great.) But seriously these are so minor!
Everything exceeded our expectations and we will be back. The setting is almost like Amalfi or Taormina (Italy) where the resort is on the cliffs, views from every room, restaurant, pool. Boutique size, so we made friends with several other guests and the wonderful staff. I loved being over a rocky coastline where you can hear the waves all night, but be aware that there is not a sandy or gentle/swimmable beach accessible from the hotel. I had a wonderful swim in the waves against the rocks at the charming little rocky beach accessible from the resort, wearing good shoes and a snorkel, but this may be challenging and not recommended for most. But the sea was the perfect temperature (this was over new year's.)

U.S. Virgin IslandsFirst, they had no record of my reservation. Confusion. They give you a what's app # to communicate with your private assistant, who apparently was supposed to have contacted us before we arrived with request, but the PA was MIA most of the stay so we gave up on that amenity. Restaurants are just awful. Food and beverages were like a poor quality Applebees. Steak represented as a NY Strip was nothing like that, inedib. Drinks were flavorless. Finally after day 2 switched to wine. But alas, despite having a wine LIST, they were out of 80% of the list. The terrace and lunch restaurant food was terrible. Indian dish served with "naan" was actually served with corn tortillas. Staff is generally unenthusiastic, confused and slow. Tables were wobbly and sticky. The only good meal was on the waters edge, without a set menu. I finally mostly gave up and ate from snacks I had brought. One day I used their requested WhatsApp to ask my personal assistant for room service. Despite showing received, the PA never replied. Assuming the food was on the way, I waited 75 minutes before texting again. No answer for 3 hours with an "I'm sorry", no offer to help. At checkout my bill was incorrect, as were the bills of three other clients checking out at the same time. The level of confusion was shocking. Had just come from San Miguel, and The Acre in Cabo which both were in every sense EXQUISITE in detail and execution. Beautifully presented drinks and delicious food. After the third day I felt like I had zero food options, and the property is a good 20' from anything. I stayed in the room, which had a lovely view. But I would never, ever go back here or recommend it. When you are in a remote location, you rely on the on property dining options to be at least adequate. They were terrible. Skip Cala de Mar and 100% go to The Acre in Cabo if you want your socks knocked off. This property is like a ghost ship with no one running it.
View and room were lovely. Housekeepers very good.

RussiaI didn't like the service, especially at breakfast: the wait was too long, staff didn't know what was in the menu. Even so, I was charged 10% at check-out for service on my bill. For what? Also, the reception forgot to mark me as checked out, so the entrance guard blocked me from exiting the hotel. The value for money is not good.
The hotel and the room were amazing.
