Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaOur room and bed were smaller than we expected. There are larger rooms with king and queen sized beds. The shower at 9:00pm night was just a trickle - no water pressure.
Clean and quiet. Close to everything. Lovely seating area outside with a well-equipped kitchen. Bottled water available for cooking and drinking. Aviary with nesting budgies was charming.

United StatesRooms tend to be dark even with large windows, though this is probably a relief in high summer sun. Room 4 is especially so.
Sweet, basic room with nice hot water in the shower and very comfy bed for two people. The common spaces -- garden patio and shared kitchen -- are what really makes this a special place, as the garden is bursting with plants and flowers, plus a sweet mini bird sanctuary!, and the shared kitchen has everything a traveler needs to refrigerate and cook their food and drink. The location is great -- 5 blocks or so to the main square, easily walkable, but far enough away that the area is quiet (other than the requisite occasional barking dogs). We've stayed here twice, and the proprietress was wonderfully accommodating both times.

United StatesA bit far from the center, and too much air freshener. I located the scent jars and put them outside, but even with the windows open the smell was overpowering.

SwedenWe were left waiting outside the house for 20 mins before the owner came to check us in. Tried to call 4 times but nobody picked up. Owner speak little English. My room has no window so pretty dark, also thin walls so you hear the neighbours occasionally.
Spacious, clean room, near to the Marina which is convenient for excursions. I love the inner garden, which was really nice to sit and chill. There is a common kitchen with a fridge, but we didn't cook. Only one car can be parked inside, the rest is on the street, but it is safe to leave them there.

United StatesI stayed 1 night in one room, another night in a different room. The rooms are very basic, small and boxy with no view. The property is near a market, which was a bit noisy in the night.
Wifi was very fast. The location is fairly central, about a 7-10 minute walk to the center square. The courtyard is lovely and a pleasant place to relax. There is no breakfast. There is a kitchen should you like to cook and fresh, bottled water was always available.

Canadait seeded the owners did not care about the place - still had dusty Halloween and Christmas decoations up at end of January. Coffee did not work properly. We had to fight for 2 days to get wifi password so we could contact our family at home. The lamp in the room did not have a switch on it and we had to plug and unplug to turn on and off. There were only 2 plugs in entire room - hard to plug in lamp an computers and phones at same time.
We loved outdoor patio and kitchen. wonderful. We loved the security of the facility. Location was good.

United StatesLike many hotels, motels and inns in this part of Mexico, the rooms here rely on harsh overhead bright fluorescent lighting, and in some cases, the table lamps also use these bulbs. Room 1 had lovely warm incandescent bulbs in the table lamps; Room 4 uses only fluorescent lights, and it also has very, very small glass block windows so this room has no natural light either, making this a less than ideal place to relax or read in the evenings. Some beds could use new mattresses as well, as some dip in the middle.
Absolutely lovely and inviting common garden and kitchen space, with plenty of room and resources to store, prepare and enjoy your food or coffee. There is also the sweetest bird colony onsite which makes for cheerful chirping in the mornings! Some rooms are more comfortable than others -- hostess Adelina was wonderfully accommodating when we asked if a different room was available; we were lucky, as she moved us immediately to a more spacious room that happened to be available, and this improved our stay in Loreto tenfold! This inn is charming, quiet, safe, and very sweet AND convenient to great food options!

Grounds - birds chirping from corner pen. Huge covered Veranda/patio with tables n chairs. Secure space as gate is locked. Room clean. Well appointed.

United StatesThe hostess of this place will treat you very differently depending on the language you speak. After learning I don't speak fluid Spanish she tried to overcharge me for the room and had issues with basic requests that in other hotels are commonplace, such as leaving my possessions on the premises a few hours after checkout.
The place is clean, well maintained and comfortable. Beautiful patio with birds, oshade and lots of plants.

Canadabooking.com sucks! Screwed up both car rental and accommodation reservations. Both car rental company and hotel did not have our reservation when we arrived. We ended up not getting a car and luckily the hotel was able to accommodate us for 6 nights. However I had to spend days trying to straighten things out with booking.com - very difficult to communicate with them. Basically they eventually paid the hotel for the 6 nights and then said sorry I would have to find some other accommodation. I was so disgusted with booking.com for ruining my vacation I left for home 8 days early. DO NOT USE BOOKING.COM THEY SUCK. Easy to deal with to make reservations but very hard to reach after the fact especially when something goes wrong (like the hotel did not have my reservation)
The room and hotel were fine. Booked for 14 nights (booking.com), the hotel had no record of the booking but was able to accommodate me for 6 nights after which we had to leave - totally booking.com's fault as they booked 14 nights without any knowledge by Casa La Castaneda. Accommodations were fine, close to beach, el centro. Friendly manager who let us stay for 6 nights while I fought it out with booking.com to resolve the screw up. Ended up cutting vacation short and booking flights home early at extra expense because of booking.com screw up. They tried to book us into another hotel for 8 days for more than we paid for 14 at Casa La Castaneda. DO NOT USE BOOKING.COM (they messed up our car rental as well)

United StatesSince we met people from all over the globe like a hostel, it would be nice if they had a signin book where people could write their home city and country and comment line. Also a map of the world and where people could put their pin on their city location. All Adelina needs to provide is the signun book and map with pins. The guests can do the rest. The room had a step down at the entry way and another step up to get into the bathroom. I dont know if that is to meet their code but it would be less of a tripping hazard in the middle of the night if there was no step up to get to the bathroom. Why not eliminate both problem steps and just put a 2 x 4 floor supports with 3/4 inch plywood on top and then flooring for a very inexpensive solution to eliminating both steps? If I lived there I would. Just an idea. Thanks for asking the right question. Retired Air Force Engineer.
Adelina and Leonardo are very helpful, caring and theyve built a fabulous patio with artistic and functional supports for the wooden sun shade.

MexicoMy smaller room, while perfectly functional, was setup a bit weird. Bed right next to the door and the lightswitch screwed to the headboard and stuff like that. Lots of mosquitos in the room.
Rooms matched the photos exactly. I had the smaller room which was fine, but a weird layout. My travel partner had the larger room which was nicer and obviously was more spacious. Wifi was good and fast enough, shower was hot and nice. The hotel has a garden to sit in with a big bird cage full of budgies. Really nice to look at. Then neighborhood is quiet and there is a convenience store around the corner.
