Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe whole experience was so lovely and the staff in particular were so welcoming. We had a friend come visit for a drink who had a medical emergency and the staff was calm, kind and helpful! I can’t recommend this place enough. Also the pool is one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen.

CanadaWe paid the same to stay at an all inclusive resort but there was no mini fridge in the room for drinks or snacks and at the pool we HAD to order drinks and food from the restaurant attached. You could not bring your own. For the price we paid we should not have been forced to spend more money and I would have expected a mini fridge.
The location was amazing! The pool was perfect and right on the beach. We could easily walk into town

United KingdomFor the price they charge there should be a mini fridge. It’s a hot + humid location and it’s crazy there is no little fridge to keep drinks cold in your room. It would not cost much and make a big difference. Also there wasn’t a single chair in the room. Skimpy on towels. The bathroom should have a dimmer switch or second light as you walk in there in the night and it’s like floodlit football pitch. Crazy bright. All of these things are so small and not expensive but would make it a much nicer stay. For what they charge it should have these things.
Gorgeous location and fresh water pool. Lovely beach bar restaurant right there. Right on the beach. Easy to walk to the Main Street of restaurants. Comfy huge bed and nice balcony.

CanadaThe units had no bar refrigerator which was inconvenient even though staff would put in their refrigerator. The pool surface was green patches/moldy and unappealing which was a real shame because it was nice otherwise.
Very nice set up on the beach with tiki bar/food beside. The unit was modern and comfortable. Staff were nice, helpful and accommodating.

United KingdomThe restaurant is incredibly overpriced and not good compared to all the food I’ve had in Mexico in other places (and a 1/3 of price). The service is good and staff are nice - it is separate to the hotel but obviously on the grounds.
The most amazing and helpful staff! It’s so peaceful and beautiful I would absolutely recommend this stay and I would come back in a heartbeat. The staff helped us book reservations for dinner, massages and whale watching. All were amazing.

United StatesThe restaurant was owned by someone else and was a very limited menu. The room doesn’t have a mini fridge. That will make the hotel make me stay more time if food service and fridge where provided.
It’s right by the beach and have a nice swimming pool. Very private and with parking (rare in Mazunte) close to all the spots near by downtown.

United StatesI wish the rooms had a mini fridge so we can keep our drinks cool. Also, we stayed in an upstairs unit and the space was very clean however, 2 of the nights we woke up to 1 cockroach on the floor. The worst was on the final night, a roach fell from the ceiling onto my arm. It’s common for critters to be around because Mazunte is a beach/tropical location however I would recommend the owners check and seal the roof of the 2nd floor units to prevent this from happening to other guests.
The location can’t be beat. I think Casa Lu is the only hotel that is beach front which makes it extra special! The rooms were very spacious for 2 people, they were always clean and the design is beautiful. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and we really enjoyed being able to go back to a space with AC. The staff was also very charming and helpful.

United StatesI liked everything. Only thing I can think is the WiFi was weak on the balcony, but fine inside the room.
Incredible view. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were so helpful. Marco helped me so much to book a taxi with a credit card (because I’d forgotten to bring enough cash). So glad I stayed here! I’ll return as soon as I can.

Exceptional service by all staff. Lu, the general manager of the hotel, is spectacular. She is super efficient and helpful and always with a smile. Jesus the groundskeeper was a joy to chat with, never a frown on his face. The same can be said for the restaurant / bar staff especially Edwin and Jose. Thanks everyone for a great stay.

MexicoI could not fault this hotel.
Casa Lu was outstanding accommodation...perfect location, luxurious, beautiful pool, right at the edge of the beach and a very short walk to the local town centre. All of the staff were simply amazing, reception and outstanding room service. We could charge all food and beverages from the adjacent bar (excellent cuisine and cocktails) to our room and pay in full on departure. Casa Lu was able to arrange fantastic massage therapists for us in the room/patio.

United KingdomEverything was perfect. Only thing that could be improved could be the pool temperature as it was quite warm but the sun was extremely strong during our stay so probably quite hard to keep a pool cool.
The property was beautiful and the staff were so welcoming and helpful. The rooms overlook the sea and the beach is less that a minute away from the pool area. Would definitely recommend to anyone heading to Mazunte.

MexicoThe ambiance at the pool side bar and restaurant doesnt draw people in - theres no music and the staff seem frustrated that theres no one visiting all day. For the price ($130mxn for a margarita, and $70mxn for a 360mL domestic beer), there should be premium garnishes for cocktails, top shelf and chilled alcohol, and a multitude of non-alcoholic cocktail options. With the lack of options and high price, we would have preferred to buy our own beer from outside but as you can expect, no fridge is provided in the room. There's so much potential here to entice people to stay and enjoy the space, and support the bartenders and kitchen staff. Even just quiet poolside type music would help the vibe here. The food menu is expensive, and there were no traditional dishes offered (dinner is primarily pasta, steak and seafood, seemingly catered to the American traveller). I would like to see a few traditional Oaxacan options, since Oaxaca is king of cuisine.
The location is perfect at Casa Lu. Easy access the the centre, and all the beaches around Mazunté. Prime location for early morning and late night walks on the beach; the sky saturated with stars is visible right from your room and you can feel the power of the waves with each break. The little details here are really nice - individual foot baths at each room and at the bar and pool side, complementary sombrero, and a complementary glass of champagne on arrive was a beautiful touch. Front house staff and security were all very helpful and friendly. No detail was missed by the grounds crew- they were raking, tidying and beautifying the place all day. Exceptional work by them. Our day bartender (Jamie) was friendly and attentive, but the others seemingly would rather sit on their phones then offer service.
