Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

All was good
Paola was a friendly and efficient receptionist. The Pool area and the room was very clean. The staff were cleaning the entire area in the morning.

The fan in my room did not work when I reported it to the front desk I was told it would be fixed the next day. It never happened. It would have been nice if a small table was available for playing cards. There were two large finished concrete tables by the pool that were great but we were unable to play cards on them. Just a cheap small plastic table for our room would have been nice,
We came to Barra as a group to play some pickleball. The hotel location was perfect for us. Easy walking distance to the court.

Nothing. If i want to be super picky, a little fridge would have been nice for the room. Also, to walk to the center its like a 20 min walk. I know some people are hella lame and would complain about this type of stuff. But a mini fridge would have been a bonus.
It was super clean, staff very friendly, it was comfortable. Good location.

The hotel can feel a bit away from the center but that's what we were looking for. The location makes it quiet and you'll get to the beach and restaurant area in a 10min walk, no more.
We stayed 3 nights at the Hotel del mar. It wasn't planned but we liked so much the area we decided to stay 2 more nights. The lady at the reception desk has been very nice and professional. The cleanliness of the entire hotel is undoubtable. The hotel is quiet and safe, just as the area. I'm glad we found a place like this hotel to feel confortable and the price is much more affordable than other hotels in Barra de navidad, for a better quality and cleanliness. Thanks again and surely I'll come back again next time

My daughter loved the place, comfortable, clean and she enjoyed the pool. I liked it because it was quiet and the deal we received was affordable. We booked a room with two beds and they put us in a room with three beds. We didn't really need that, but my 5 year old thought it was fantastic. #bedjumping

A mini-fridge in the room would have been ideal.
The rooms were clean, the beds were quite comfortable, the staff were nice, the pool area was nice. Good internet service. The location was great. Close to convenience stores, grocery stores, liquor stores. Excellent laundry service right across the street.

Small coffee pot at front desk.Was ok Mostly got coffee from Koisky down the road. Fridge in room was nice for longer stay.Microwave would be nice.all in all was worth the money.

The staff did not speak English therefore communication was a challenge. Thankful that I had Google translate

Booked into Room#1 which faced an extremely busy and noisy main road. Settled down a little after midnight. A minor inconvenience was no light switch near the bed, which meant going to the door to turn off room lights before getting back to the bed. Used flashlight on phone to light my way.
Hotel del Mar is a boutique place with a wonderful staff, clean pool (not big but good for splashing around in), extraordinarily comfortable bed and bedding, good a/c, good internet, safe location. Walking distance to restaurants and an OXXO. Excellent, free coffee in the morning is a pleasant and welcome amenity. Clean, sophisticated decor has a Euro vibe.
