The setting is beautiful. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The private room was clean and comfortable with toiletries included. The offers of activities are nice and the communal areas look fun and inviting.

It wasn’t always clear who was staff and who were guests but it wasn’t a big problem. The outdoor toilets would benefit from a bigger rain canopy, it’s impossible not to get soaked on your way in and out haha

Beautiful location, in the midst of nature, still very close to town. Very calming.

I would have personally preferred more bathrooms for the amount of people we shared a room with.

I would say the best I got was enjoying a balanced environment between work and rest. If you come to Ekko Hostel you're here for a treat of a genuine stay. Staying here allowed me to create community, learn new skills, and make new friends on my free time. I was able to work remotely (30+h/week) with the majestic view to the Tepozteco, and grab healthy and yummy meals from their cafe and nearby places. Commuting to Tepoztlán center was easy from their location with the local vans ($10 pesos/ride). I also am really grateful for the guests gracious hosting and their efforts to have us respect silent hours. PS. If you're a pet lover like myself you're gonna enjoy it even more. Love their furries!!!! 🐾

spacious, earthy, clean, resourced kitchen, out of the main buzz of the town, hot water, comfy warm beds, always soap and toilet paper, kind people.

they were preparing for a party while i was there, a little of a buzz in all the communal spaces… that was the only thing.

i loved the hamacas on the garden and overall the outdoor area was nice & with amazing view !

The bed was for some reason uncomfortable for me, i couldnt fall asleep. the storage space above the bed didnt hold closed unless you used a lock, so i had it opened over me the whole night and it seemed little claustrophobic. But mostly there is just one bathroom per room so even if you need to pee you have to wait for ppl to finish showering and lm tell you some ppl take it inconsiderately VERY long 👹 also its not the closest to the center (uphill) but collectivos run there every 10 mins so that is not such a problem Also as someone already mentioned the list of rules (prohibitions) you are given as soon as you arrive gives an unwelcoming feeling

Really friendly people, but the place has problems.

We stayed in one of the private rooms and the place was just covered I mean COVERED in what looked like mold. Honestly, I'm not sure if it was even safe but for two nights whatever. I really hope they see this review and do something about it. I even knocked a pillow off the bed onto the wall and noticed it was covered in black stuff. Really really undesirable and uncomfortable situation we strongly considered leaving. So...yeah. Sorry but I don't think it's safe without some serious intervention.

It’s a 20min walk from the centre but that’s ok

Ekko Hostel was a. friendly chilled location with a yoga, drumming, healing vibe. Kitchen and communal meals. A 15 minute walk down the hill from Tepotzlan but with local shops and cafes. Friendly staff and the hostel attracts a buena honda crowd.

its outside Tepotzlan but easy to get around via shared taxis and collectivos

Everything was perfect - the place, the facilities, the location - and the volunteers made this place even extra special with great activities (yoga, temazcal, Ricardo's delicious community dinners, and they also organize tai chi, african dance, fogata, and so much more). Warmly recommended!

This place is really special, and beautiful, the people who run the place and living there, the energy - like a small community. came in a day that was cacao ceremony and they all welcomed me to join and it was so much fun to sing around the fire. Also came with my leg injured and the really helped me and took care of me. The place is close to the centre but still far enough to be quiet and chill.
