The location was in a town residential area that is very hidden. The parking lot is across the street and they lock the parking lot gates for safety. Easy to get lost without navigation. I paid for a room with a view and a jacuzzi. The view was exceptional but the jacuzzi would not start. Staff had to come and get it started. I was told that the jacuzzi kept shutting the electrical breaker off. I was told if that happened I could turn the breaker on. I was trying to get the jacuzzi ready and it kept shutting off. After the second time I had to switch the breaker on I decided not to use the jacuzzi because I was afraid of being electricuted. I did report this to staff and thought it was dangerous. I paid for a jacuzzi and was not able to use it. NOT GOOD!

The facilities look old, the carpets, the wood, the bathrooms, the decoration, the TV everything looks old and very used. The TV terrible, didnt work well at all. The internet terrible also.

The food in the restaurant was hit and miss- over salted food and poor coffee. Not much to do nearby without driving 15 minutes despite lovely spot on the lake.

On a checkout they miss charging a breakfast, and was calling 9 pm to ask for some bank transactions to a Mexican bank. Did they realize a transfer for a foreign bank cost 3 times more than the amount they were asking for. Not very professional, even more the tip I left cover with not problem the amount they miss to charge, so when they make a mistake it's expected they to pay for the mistake, not calling me 9 pm.

I strongly suggest a couple of important details to be implemented: 1. Make sure there’s a small fridge in the room available for the guest use. 2. Make sure that the pathway down the lakeside terrace is open for the guests, since we weren’t able to enjoy contemplating the sunset by the lakeside since no one found the keys that open the lock towards that terrace. They apologized… not good enough though.

The restaurant on property was just okay, and the service could use some improvement.

El Chante Resort and Spa is a beautiful resort! It's lakeside location is just dreamy. We loved sitting on the balcony watching the sunset and the moon light dancing on lake Chapala. The spa treatments our wonderful and the staff couldn't be any nicer. We truly hated to leave.

If already paying for a nights stay, the temazcal and steam room should be included as its not a cheap place. Service in the restaurant should be a little bit faster ( as it wasn't that busy) but we waited 10min to sign the ticket at the end.

The hotel is really pretty! The room was really nice with comfortable beds! Pool, jacuzzi and restaurant were also nice. Overall would recommend for a night away from city life!

Location is difficult to find, signage is inconsistent after leaving the main highway. Hotel is located at the back of a very rundown barrio area. Office staff gave instruction to the hotel as if signage was in place. Location is 30 minutes from services in Ajihi or Chapala. Road into the hotel is cobblestone, your car suspension will get a workout. Internet connectivity was awful. Internet only in rooms, not on grounds or near the pool. Internet service would go out for large blocks of time. Rooms are old, need to be updated. Room keys attached to large plastic cards. No ceiling fans in rooms. No light in bath vanity area. Not enough outlets for modern guests. Hotel rules are out of date, i.e no mobile phones in corridors? Rules and information books are ancient. They smell like an old library (which did have appeal if you ever worked in or hung out in an old library). One office staff member had an attitude. Was he even 18? Asked questions about if my wife had a swimsuit n prior to a massage. Creepy. Spa staff said that wasn't issue? Why did he bring that up. Check-in, check-out process is like signing for a home loan.

Food was good. Bed was comfortable. Grounds were beautiful. Pool was good. Spa services were good. Room service staff was good.

It was a private hotel and had my wife's purse stolen, but there was no real help to deal with it. The hotel basically told us that it was our fault. They only rent the rooms.
