Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt was really nice and good value for the money. The beach was a bit dirty and the pictures don’t look exactly like the place. The food was really nice and make sure to book the Japanese restaurant it was the best.

CanadaThe Catamarán was not great. I did not like the attitude of the boat captain. He was clearly looking for tips. Comparatively speaking, this trip was quite costly and the inclusion of this activity was part of the value. The captain literally demanded large tips of $100. I did not experience this anywhere else. My entire group felt the same. El Dorado Seaside Palms might consider paying the boat staff adequately to avoid this discomfort for guests, if that is the issue. Otherwise you may want to select less greedy boat operators.
Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was great. Grounds were well kept and spacious. Lots of activities.

CanadaDinner reservation system (or lack thereof). No ‘grand buffet’ like at most resorts, all dinners are at one of multiple restaurants where you have to be seated. Yet could only reserve at the two ‘fancier’ ones (which is next to impossible); had to show up at all others, and be told there was a 30-45 minute wait to be seated. Food was excellent, logistics of getting dinner was not.

United StatesThere was valet only parking and when they had our car someone went through our belongings. We didnt leave anything of value in the vehicle but we did notice that upon recieving the car the roadside emergency bag was "tossed" as in rifled through. Valet parking doesnt mean safe for valuables.
We liked that even though the resort was full, our stay seemed quiet and uncrowded.

CanadaThe people who try to book you for a massage are annoying. They will ask you many times a day!
The beach was fabulous! Always plenty of lounge chairs. Staff generally friendly. We had a luxury junior suite and it was great! Remember it’s Mexico, so their 5 star isn’t the same as Canada’s 5 star. View was of the beach and the landscaped grounds.

CanadaLong waits for dinner on restaurants that are first come first serve Some guests turned away for dinner some nights because they are no longer take walk-ins Some guests forced to use room service in those situations Once room service didn’t show up Main buffet closed most nights. Opening this up would have solved a lot of issues.
Very clean rooms Exceptionally friendly staff Delicious food Availability of beach beds 24/7 room service Beautiful grounds Free airport shuttle Entire resort is walkable Beach is absolutely gorgeous Beach is cleaned and raked all day every day

CanadaNewly implemented restaurant reservation system is not working. People being turned away, long waits as the kitchen can't handle demand. Also main buffet was closed even though occupancy was high. Not enough nightly entertainment, especially after 10pm. Buildings & rooms need updating.
Adult only, beautiful foliage, very friendly staff, cute wildlife, excellent food quality & selection, property not too big, free Bali beds, no wrist bands, unlimited beach towels, no towel cards, rooms cleaned thoroughly, beds comfortable, pillow choice. Enjoyed the Lomas More Inclusive which included free airport transportation.

NetherlandsThere is always stuff for improvement, but those are two minor to list here. Also when keeping the ‘value for money’ in mind. If you want it to be ‘perfect’ then pay for it 😉
It’s perfectly fine to spend a couple of days at the beach. The staff is generally very friendly and accommodating. First time at an all inclusive, and we were pleasantly surprises about the food quality and variety, the holiday atmosphere, and nice settings

United StatesThe disco music was audible at 2 am. It’s wonderful to have that but how about turning it off at a decent time. Our first room, 2905 had hot water and a good mattress. Our second room 517 was beautiful but had low water pressure, ran out of hot water often, and the mattress sags in many different areas and should be replaced. Why not set up for the beach dinners after beach volleyball is over at 2 pm?
Grounds were beautiful with meandering paths, hammocks, and lots of beach beds and chairs as long as you get there early. I could always find food that we loved-ordered all the appetizers at the Asian restaurant. The beef filet and seafood spaghetti at the Italian restaurant was fantastic. The street tacos at the buffet area of Driftwood was very good. Breakfast buffet is good. Everyone was very nice and helpful especially Saulo for beach beds, Suely for beach drinks, Emiliano at the Asian restaurant, Luis at the Italian restaurant, Carlos at volleyball, our housekeepers Guadalupe and Nerihmedt, and all of the bellman. There is a coconut stand-wish it were open every day. The beach has a man made border that prevented beach erosion, kept the sargassum low, and created a shallow calm lagoon. At the deepest point, the water was up to our chest. Staff worked very hard and long hours raking and keeping the beach clean. We walked on the beach next door-Unico and Grand Palladium-had rotting sargassum and trash.

CanadaBuildings and rooms are old, tired. Bed was way too high, furniture is old and not comfortable. They should blast the stupid tub out and put in window and nice rattan furniture. Plumbing had lots of issues, sink taps don’t go into sink and spill over edge of counter. Shower slopes away from the drain. They worked on plumbing a few times in our 2 weeks so water was off or hot water was off at very inconvenient times. Beach lounges and beds are hogged as usual and there is no policing of rules by resort. Most smokers disregard the no smoking policy and don’t stand at smoking locations the resort has provided but instead in the middle of walkways. Beach breakwaters and sand bagging are ugly to look at and sandbags are tripping hazard.
Al a carte restaurants were excellent. Buffet breakfast had lots of fresh fruit and choices. All the staff were friendly and gave great service. The resort was very walkable for seniors with most facilities accessible. The shuttle service around the resort was excellent other than rude younger groups of tourists who would push on and take seats when you were waiting first. Valets at lobby we’re the best at getting you the perfect ride and helping when our shuttle to the airport was stuck in traffic jam.

United KingdomI suffered with terrible food poisoning whilst there which meant I was unable to utilise the facilities, food or drink for 70% of the time. I have travelled to Mexico 6 times and never been ill. I take all of the precautions and am well aware of the general sicknesses that can happen. I had stayed a week prior in the sister resort El Dorado Royale and was fine.
Nice location, service staff great and overall presentation of resort was nice.

United States- Not allowed to book dinner reservations without a room number but a room number is only provided after 3PM check-in and the personal concierge leaves before 2PM. - Restaurant staff couldn't find our dinner reservation and didn't help at all with finding somewhere to eat. No recommendations on what to do next, where to go; simply we don't see your room number so figure it out. - Pool bars are very much understaffed, only 1 bartender per pool bar and there are long lines to get a drink. - Had to reach out 3 times to the front desk to confirm our airport transfer. No willingness to move on the best time for your flight, they only do 1 shuttle per day to the Cancun airport. - Impossible to book for evening restaurants (2 are reservation only) and the rest had a 1+ hr wait time --> leaving only buffet options - Bathroom door was broken, hot tub in the room didn't work - staff ask you to leave a 5 star review for the entire hotel on google maps with their name recommendations after each activity (e.g. clay pot painting). I suspect they are commission based on when their names are mentioned and it HIGHLY inflates the hotel rating
- Nice availability of cabanas and pools around the area - Great lunch options with the wood fired pizza and taco station - Beautiful resort overall but very poor management constantly trying to inflate their ratings
