We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.

United KingdomThe hotel is beautiful but has a strange layout and to reach the swimming pool from our room we had to walk through the restaurant (this felt very odd!) The lifts were mostly not working. The restaurant is not 5 star and the experience here really tainted our stay. We had read reviews of the restaurant so were aware that not everyone’s experience was good. The prices are high and the menu description promises a lot. We ordered wine but were told that the hotel had sold out of all wine. When our food arrived the French fries had been replaced by lettuce and two small carrots and the many of the ingredients in another dishes were missing. The waiter said the hotel had sold out of everything. As we left the restaurant we spotted other tables with wine and french fries being served. It seems that some tables were getting the full menu but others not! The meal was the worst we ate in over a month in Mexico. We did not risk breakfast.
The hotel is really beautiful and the bedrooms large and well designed. The balcony looking out over the forest was lovely and having a small fridge in the room was useful. Pool was large with plenty of space to sit around it and pool towels were readily available. The location close to Calakmul temples, meant we were able to remain in the park until closing and enjoy them with almost no other tourists. The ruins felt much busier in the morning than the afternoon.

ItalyThe feeling is is the one of a “luxury resort/cruise”, a little bit less authentic than other places, and the price goes with it, it goes without saying.
The place is completely surrounded by the jungle, which is something remarkable when you are in the pool on the roof swimming. It is also the best place to be able to go early in the morning to the archeological site and beat the crowds. Everything is clean and run smoothly. The room and bathroom were enormous.

ItalyWhat's at sight is well kept, clean and in the right place. Our balcony overlooked the back and it was pretty a mess to be considered a 5stars hotel (mounts of old black plant pots and other stuff) Definitely the sorroundings should be kept better. A thing that was very disturbing to us was the music that is spreaded in all the corridors.. it is a good thing to hear, but not at 7am. We found two huge moths in our room, but again, what to expect (we considered it a welcome from the sorrounding fauna). We gently released them from the balcony.
New facilities, well kept, not so busy. Good ambient, and pretty nice experience to see inside the common areas insects leaf shapes and huge moth. We were in the middle of the jungle, what's to expect! Great outside pool at the 3rd floor full of birds flying and singing around. Restaurant was ok. Overall, definitely worth the visit!

BelgiumRestaurant and service were not as bad as mentioned in many other reviews, just slightly below what you can expect from the standing the hotel projects. Again nothing terrible.
Simply put there is no better option to visit Calakmul. 10minutes drive in the morning and the site opens from you. On top of this the facilities are great (pool, rooms, bar)

United KingdomThe staff seemed a little clueless. The night before reception had told us we could request takeaway breakfast/lunch to take to the ruins if we asked at 7am (ruins open at 8am). We did so, but didn't receive the packages till 8:15 which was a little frustrating, but in the end the ruins were still very quiet when we arrived so was not really a problem.
Best location for accessing Calakmul ruins. Very clean and spacious rooms and lovely rooftop pool.

BelgiumThe hotel is not good organised: food and drinks comes to slow because they all have to much procedures… (different forms). You expect for 5 stars for example: Bread or taco’s and better drinks and more hospitality. I hope they improve that!
New hotel with all comfort: nice rooms, good pool, building is beautifull, games… The location is superbe. In the middle of the jungle and close (10 km of the ruins). Recommandation to stay here.

United StatesThe food and restaurant. Make sure you bring your own food…. The cafeteria prices are really high and portions are extremely small. There is no place around to buy any kind of snack or water…. so be aware of it if you are planning to stay there…. bring something with you to avoid being hungry the whole time.
Location and facilities were really good.

United KingdomStaff are clueless and the service is terrible. They need to up their game to be considered five star. It’s not just about aesthetics it’s the service too. Food was average- overpriced for what it was and the portions small. They ran out of water for three hours on day two meaning all of the toilets were disgustingly and we couldn’t have a shower. My son got a stomach upset and we suspect the pool did it. The pool needed cleaning and was very cloudy. The staff and management are letting this place down. It could be absolutely fantastic with the right management.
Location beautiful and the hotel design is stunning.

BelgiumIt does feel like the hotel isn’t quite there yet in terms of meeting European expectations. There was no staff at the pool bar around 6 PM, despite about 15 guests being present. Also, the dinner menu needs serious attention: if a burger and fries at McDonald’s are tastier than those in a luxury hotel, something is off. A smaller, more curated menu with better quality would be a step in the right direction – and we’d be happy to pay more if the food matches the setting. Finally, some details need more care: pool maintenance, lighting, wooden decking and plants could all benefit from a closer eye.
We stayed one night in this brand-new hotel and were genuinely impressed by the architecture and warm welcome. The reception and restaurant staff were all extremely kind and attentive. Our room was spacious, tastefully decorated and offered great comfort. Breakfast was of good quality, and restaurant prices were reasonable. We even had a “wow” moment when driving onto the property – it definitely makes an impression.

United KingdomWe had a great stay here! We were a little unsure at first since the hotel has only recently opened, and like others have mentioned, it’s still in a soft opening phase — so not everything is fully finished and the restaurant menu is a bit limited. That said, our room was nice. The air conditioning didn’t work, but the ceiling fan kept us comfortable enough. The setting is beautiful — we spotted loads of birds around the hotel in the mornings, and it was lovely to sit by the pool during sunrise and sunset. The location is ideal if you’re planning to visit the Calakmul ruins — it’s only about a 15–20 minute drive from the site. A quick heads-up for other travellers: to reach the hotel, you’ll be entering the Calakmul Biosphere, so you’ll need to pay two entry fees just after turning off the main highway heading south. You’ll receive a wristband there. The third and final fee is at the ruins themselves, past the hotel. We didn’t find this process clearly explained online, but it all made sense once we got there. Overall, this isn’t a 5-star luxury hotel, but it’s in a fantastic location for exploring Calakmul, and being completely surrounded by jungle is a pretty special experience. It also saves you the long 2-hour drive from Xpujil. We’d definitely stay again!

New ZealandThe hotel requires an Internationally trained manager to really shake the staff out of slumber and become dedicated to the clients across all sectors of customer service.
Unfortunately no sign at front gate so drove for extra 20km to get back to. But wow what a great looking hotel and really a highlight of our entire trip it was the gift of location as the park was only 10km away and after an average breakfast with ok service to get there as it opened was magical, to climb the pyramids and to hear the howling monkeys not long after dawn brilliant.

United KingdomThe hotel is still in soft launch phase so there are a few things not quite finished. The toilets had a foul smell. I suspect not plumbed correctly or a lose vent cap or something. Snagging thst needs to be ironed out before the hard launch. The kitchen really needs to open before 07:30. Visitors will more than likely want to head out to the Mayan ruins before this time and so it would be good to atleast grab a coffee before heading out.
Environmental concerns aside ot is by far the most convenient location to stay if visiting Calakmul archeological zone. It is deep within the Biosphere. This has the hallmarks of a luxury hotel and generally it was very beautiful. The rooms are large and sppacious and with super comfortable beds. They need to introduce draft excluders under the room doors as at present there is a large gap allowing bugs to enter the room as the hotel is a semi outdoor set-up with common area staircases and hallways being exposed to the elements. The roof top pool and sun lounge area was great, however the water was quite cloudy. Not sure if this was due to filters not being turned on on the stonework not fully sealed.

United KingdomThe waiting time for food in the restaurant varies: sometimes it took a bit long but it’s because it gets very busy and the staff seems to be rushing trying to do the best they can.
It is a very nice and new hotel in the middle of Calakmul biosphere. It takes about 1 hours by car from the Mayan Train station to get there, but this allows us to enjoy the vegetation and to see some animals: a grey fox and a big family of coatis. Once at the hotel, the rooms are spacious and spotless. The beds are very comfortable with nice cotton bedding. All rooms seem to have a balcony with chairs and a table, but ours had in addition a view to the jungle (others face the car park, so ask for one with jungle view). The showers have excellent water pressure (rare around these area) and we also enjoyed the 2 swimming pools after our visit to the archaeological site. We also had breakfast, lunch and dinner in the restaurant and the food was excellent. We liked the area for playing pool, table tennis and futbolito. The staff went above and beyond to help us, especially the manager Andrea Sanchez. I developed a nasty ear infection and needed medication. There is a doctor on site, and they also sent one of the drivers to get my medication in one of his rounds to the nearby town (which is 1.5 hours from the hotel). So they saved us a lot of time and hassle. Thank you!

United KingdomCheck in took an extremely long time (20+ minutes) due to all of the three staff seemingly engaged in booking in the single family in front of us - at no point did they acknowledge our presence while we, and other guests, stacked up in front of the desks. The level of staff attentiveness throughout the venue was extremely poor, and most especially in the restaurant (One example: Having been given a table, and with the restaurant perhaps 1/8 full of people already eating, we then had to wait at least 10 minutes before having to get up to go and get the attention of a staff member to ask for the menu. We then waited 20 minutes before a staff member approached to ask if we would like to order anything. We then waited over 15 minutes for our two simple drinks to appear, and more than 30 minutes for a single Hamburger meal to materialise! During this time, there were at least 6 staff members in the restaurant, all of whom failed to notice that we, and other seated guests, were still waiting for service. This experience was repeated throughout our 2 night/3 day stay at each meal. Additionally, at no point throughout our stay did any of the staff or management, during our interactions with them, check how our stay was or if we needed help with anything - perhaps not essential, but it reflected the general lack of customer service you would have expected of this (fairly pricey) hotel. A simple improvement in the level of service and engagement by the staff would make this place an amazing experience, rather than coming away from it feeling it was a very "average" one!
Location - closest hotel to Calakmul ruins. Sufficient facilites, comfortable bed and room, good hot shower. Pleasant rooftop pool. Food was not expensive and generally of good quality.

United StatesNothing!! As a traveler, Do realize you are off the grid and water and electricity is a scarce good. I loved getting jugs of water at the breakfast/dining table as not to waste 1001 plastic bottles.
Absolutely lovely! We are fam of 6 so had 3 room, king & doubles and all very comfortable! Rooms, bathrooms, mattresses, pillows all very clean & comfortable! We loved this one more than the other Mundo Maya hotels for it’s efforts to be self supportive character in such a secluded beautiful protected place. No wasted airconditioning in the common spaces and hallways, common spaces are all open air and that is so much more immersive and comfortable than freezing-fridge hotels. Also the TVs were off thank goodness. The pool with cabanas and service on the rooftop was super comfortable after hot mornings exploring ruins and jungle! The food was excellent at this Mundo maya! Much better than at others . And then the staff, beyond welcoming, kind and service oriented. Thank you Clarissa for arranging an excellent guide for us!! (Something I do recommend you learn so much more of the culture and history!) Thank you MM Calakmul it was wonderful!!

GermanyI have very mixed feelings and opinions about this hotel. If I had known that this hotel contributes to the destruction of the Biosphere of Calakmul, I would never have booked it. The information about the hotel location is Xpujil. Xpujil is a 2-hour drive from the actual location. This information is misleading and meant to confuse. Together with the Tren Maya, whose fundaments crushed natural wonders like the cenotes and killed thousands of wild fauna, this hotel was built destroying over 3 hectares of rainforest and by the order of the former president, was constructed and is managed (!) by the military, ignoring the indigenous communities and to accommodate mass tourism in a place that is still UNESCO protected and where 80 % of the animal species of Yucatan live. This place is the second-largest lung of our planet. The hotel is 10 km away from the archaeological site of Calakmul, so it is a riddle how this hotel is supposed to run without polluting the ground water. It is an aberration to build a hotel by destroying nature and a cultural heritage. Besides, this hotel claims to be a luxury, 5-star establishment. They are far from such standards: we have never experienced such a lack of fresh food and variety in Mexico as in this hotel. Not even fruit is available. Fresh salad? Forget about it. With a military general serving as the manager, it is no wonder that the hotel presents numerous deficits in terms of catering and service. After inquiring about it, we found that no local provider is willing to procure the raw materials and food for the hotel due to the 60 km that are needed to travel one-way to supply. 60 km crossing the protected area. All the supplies come from a central supply directly from Mexico City (!), so the oranges, bananas, pineapples, papayas, etc. meats and fish are locally produced, sent to Mexico City to a central warehouse and then sent by truck (frozen, 20 hours or more on the road) to this hotel. Ridiculous. Mexico Mágico.
The sounds of the wild fauna early in the morning. The service personnel in the restaurant is very attentive and diligent despite of the notorious deficits they confront to provide a good guest experience.
