How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewLovely place. We only spend one night, between a visit to Mexico City and our return flight to Brussels. We booked a taxi with booking.com. Really worth it. Lovely pool on the roof and excellent breakfast.

Verified reviewElegantly furnished apartment, spacious room (Room #3, 2 beds, complete with a big balcony where you can dry your swimers, etc). The full breakfast - fruits, toast, milk, omlets. Plenty of space to park the car right in front / next to the house. The entire villa is gate controlled by the securit staff 24hours. Feels very safe, although Cancun generally is safe enough.
(It was not a problem for us because we were travelling by car) but the location is a little out of town (15minutes drive to the city center, shopping malls etc). And from the entrance of the villa to the accomodaiton itself, you would have to walk some 500meters / 5minutes if you do not have a car.

Verified reviewArturo was great. He was very hospitable and gracious. Cooked breakfast every morning and it was delicious. He was helpful with questions that I had. Wonderful time. The only thing I had an issue with was the shower was very weak. Once I brought it to Arturo's attention he had it corrected and 100%better.
Can really say I didn't like anything. It was a nice home away from home. Would stay again and will let friends and family know about it.

Verified reviewGood location, Nice big room and pool. Host was super nice and helpuful and also cooks breakfast in the morning. Perfect stay for last night before flying home. Really close from the beach
A/C blows on at least one of the beds, no matter how configured. Cancun in itself: no interest to us.

Verified reviewHello all travelers. Allow me to share this incredible experience with you. It was my first time in Mexico, specifically in Cancun. Not knowing the place, I had to do the search for the house, as criteria I evaluated: quality/price, location, services, safety. To be honest I found much more. Casa Lara has given me new friends. Upon your arrival you will find the owner named Arthuro - an exceptional and exquisite person. I wish all the owners were so polite, helpful and friendly. A friendship was created. The structure is beautiful, (all the photos on the site correspond to what you will see in person, in fact, perhaps they do not really convey all the beauty that you will find) especially for those seeking authenticity and contact with nature. Casa Lara is located inside the fenced residence and with a 24-hour security guard on site (for those who want to rent a car) in front of the sea. You will find many unique and exotic objects as furnishings, because the host's family loves to travel, so who else can truly understand what a tourist might need and how to make them feel at ease! The rooms are clean, well-kept, spacious and have everything necessary for an independent experience. All the rooms overlook the nature reserve. Every morning you will wake up to the pleasant singing of the typical local birds and with the fauna in front of your still sleepy eyes that will make you feel like the king of the jungle :) The rooftop pool is a brilliant idea, after long trips during the day, there is nothing better than diving into the fresh water with a breathtaking view of the reserve. Lara Casa's breakfast is a phenomenon in itself. I believe there are few hotels in the world that offer a breakfast handmade with passion and creativity, varied and served with typical Mexican music in the background - a marvel. If you decide to provide your own meals, you will find a fully stocked and hospitable kitchen at your disposal.
Don't pay attention on the smile, ther wasn't enough space to comlete my comment :). Another aspect that pleasantly surprised me is the location. First of all, you will find 50/60m from the property the only free access beach within a radius of 40km or something similar. A Caribbean beach, with fine white sand, beautiful palm trees and free straw umbrellas with a view of Isla de Mujeres and the Hotel area. As an exclusive but underrated place, you will always find parking, plenty of space on the beach and little noise! In addition, in the surroundings, you will find the best authentic seafood restaurants, cheap and of quality, humble in presentation, but with a unique and authentic goodness of seafood. For culture and history lovers, a 10 minute walk will find the Mayan archaeological museum - El Meco. Divided by the road, one part of the museum is located in the nature reserve, the second part instead on the Caribbean beach! The museum is small and can be visited in 2/3 hours for lovers of details. Inside the museum area you will also find an authentic pyramid, in the natural reserve area. There are bike paths all over the city of Cancun, and if you are interested, you can arrange a bike with Arturo :). Alone, with family, as a couple - you will find this property as the best possible choice. PS. No 5-star hotel can give you such an inclusive and immersive experience as Casa Lara! Love you Arthuro!

Verified reviewThe people, Arturo, Jessica and Christina made the stay very pleasant. Arturo was born to host this of kind place.Breakfast was great as previously reported in old reviews. Location is a plus, near a new archealogical site , away from the heavy tourist area and just across from beach. Beach shoes needed on beach. Beach bars are rustic but well organized with excellent food and service and price. Casa Lara is on quiet location that suited our needs. To go to busy areas such as stores we used Uber with no problems. Uber has better cars and are much cheaper than taxis. This location was the key to enjoying the whole area by being at the edge of the busy Cancun.
Sliding door screens need repair of tracks.

Verified reviewIncredible service and hospitality from Arturo. Great location across from beach, nice breakfast served in the motioning, restaurants close by, and it is a collectivo ride away from the ADO bus station. The room was comfortable.
There isn’t anything I didn’t like.

Verified reviewCasa Lara is a gem! Super comfortable bed and the entire home is exceptionally clean. The daily breakfast was so much better than a restaurant and presented elegantly. The beach is right across the street from this gated community with several restaurants in the vicinity as well as an OXO. Wifi was dependable throughout the home. It was nice to sit on the balcony of my room and feel the breeze off the ocean. Many thanks to Arturo and Yessica for sharing your home and smiles 🙏

Verified reviewGreat beach location in a quiet neighbourhood with good restaurants nearby. The communication, host and breakfast were very good.
The property has been a bit damaged by storms recently and they have not yet had time to fix some leaks and electrical issues completely. It was still in acceptable condition though.
