How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI appreciated the semi- secluded, peaceful location where you could easily embark on a peaceful morning stroll toward the Punta Mosquito. I had nothing to complain about my room. Good ac, ok bed, small fridge that did its job.
I was satisfied with the modest breakfast that was included in the price. Some fruits, two slices of toast and either butter or jam to go with it. Coffee was drinkable but watery and kind of let down. I tried some egg dishes from the menu to supplement my menu, but they were disappointing and decided to get my food from nearby hotels instead. Same went for the drinks. 200$ for a 3 cl shot of cheap mescal felt like a rip off. My hindsight tip: Improve the tomato sauce recipe and be a bit more generous with the pours so I'd certainly spend more money on the beach bar.
Thank you very much for sharing your detailed feedback. We are glad to know that you enjoyed the peaceful location and that your room was comfortable during your stay. We truly appreciate your constructive comments about breakfast and the bar service, as they help us identify areas where we can improve. Your suggestions regarding the food and drinks have been taken into account and will be shared with our team. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again and offer you an even better experience at Hotel Villas Tiburón.

Verified reviewWe had a lovely stay at Villas Tiburon. The hotel has a beautiful jungle feel with a lot of nice details. Karina from the reception made us feel very welcome. We also did the 3 islands tours. It was very nice.
If you book the Cabo caboche tour, ask if you will be able to do snorkeling as sometimes it is not possible and the companies don't communicate about it.

Verified reviewThe rooms are very spacious and the beds are comfortable. The location, slightly outside the center, is not a problem. The beach is beautiful and clean. The hotel grounds, with many plants, are very nice. Breakfast was a bit basic at first, with only toast and fruit for the first few days. On the day of departure, we were able to order an additional breakfast item at no extra charge.
The hotel complex is a bit older, and the rooms are somewhat dated.

Verified reviewThe location is great, one of the last hotels of that side of the island. You can walk through the sand banks to Punta Mosquito, which is a top destination of many day tours. The room itself was good, with direct sea views. The food in the restaurant is not great, but the rooftop bar is very nice. The staff at the reception were very helpful.
The breakfast is very simple, including just some fruits, a toast with butter or jam, a coffee and a juice.

Verified reviewHotel is in the first line on the beach. That is super comfortable to access it. Also rooms are spacious and was comfortable for us with two kids. Staff was friendly and put a lot of efforts to solve some issues with hot water. Hotel has two pools, but we actually prefered the sea and beach.
Seems that hotel needs to be reconstructed and renewed. Booking.com marked that it has 4*, but for real - only 3*. Breakfast were really poor: only fruit plate and two peaces of toast. We had to order additinally omletes or something else. Location is nice if you want calm environment, but a bit far away from the city center - 20-25 min to walk. And for our personal opinion, rooftop pool DJ was too loud and the music did not matched to the environment :)

Verified reviewThe staff was exceptionally friendly and courteous, which really helped make our stay more enjoyable.
Breakfast was supposed to be included, instead there was coffee and a plate of fruit. The room was really in need of renovation, and smelled of mould, and the A/C unit kept us up with a loud noise. Thankfully we only stayed one night so it was bearable, but would not return.

The included breakfast is just a few pieces of fruit and coffee, so we had to order extra items each day because it was too small. We saw that with basically everybody. Holbox in general is super overpriced.

Verified reviewSo far our worst experiece in Mexico. We spent a night at Hotel Villas Tiburon out of the 4 nights we planned to stay. We had to leave earlier as our room was not what was promised on booking.com's website. We had two rooms during our time there. We were offered a second room as in the first one the TV didn't work. Both rooms were damp and musty. We found mold at some places. The roof was leaking and the rain water was dripping down on the wooden beam of the ceiling. The airconditioner worked only partially. The closing lid was broken and couldn't open. The mosquito net was missing, so we weren't even able to open windows without letting hundreds of mosquitos into our room. The bathroom also didn't feel clean. The cabin and the equipment looked really worn. There was mold on the bottom of the sink. The front door had a huge blurred glass sheet in it, letting all the lights from the corridor into the room, even in the middle of the night. The walls were paper thin, so we could hear every step and motion from outside, not to mention conversations. The bed sheets had stains on them and after asking for a replacement the new sheets still had stains on them. The staff's explanation for this: it's the sunscreen from other people's skin. I don't know if I should feel any better hearing this... We tried to complain at the reception, but we were told humidity is high on the island, so it's natural that rooms are damp. We booked another hotel on the island via booking.com and that one doesn't have any of the issues mentioned above. It was also much cheaper than Hotel Villas Tiburón.
