We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsWe got warned there was limited water because it had to come from a tank since there are no pipes. We were really careful with the water and still we ran out after 2 days. A new tank would only come after 2-3 days, so we were without water for the rest of our stay.
When we were there (in may), there were no other guests which meant we had the whole place to ourselves. The hostel has everything you could possibly need. It's really nice to hike through the coppercanyon from here. Also bonus point for the fireplace and hammocks!

United StatesThe house needed to be cleaned. The house is still in the process of be finished ...i.e. cement floors in the queen room and bath (there were some area carpets in this room), tile finishing in other area of the house, etc.
Liked location. Somewhat remote but easy to walk around, for example to Adventure Park...took about 1 hour to walk and we found the trail through the woods along the canyon to the. Park...quite beautiful. We liked being the only people at the house.

SingaporeJust be aware that there is no WiFi at the hostel and mobile reception there and in Areponapuchi/Divisadero can be quite weak. There will be many pockets of time that you won't get data connection, and even when you do, you may only be able to send WhatsApp messages and access non-media-intensive webpages at best. (For reference, my wife and I used OXXO CEL.) The knob for the hot water tap in the shower can get quite hot after some use, so one should be careful not to grab it too hard to turn it off after showering.
My wife and I were the only guests at the hostel during the four nights we stayed there, so our experience was more akin to an Airbnb rather than a hostel. While Carlos wasn't around, he entrusted the hostel in the good hands of a nice young woman, Alejandra, who picked us up from the Divisadero train station, and was on hand to made sure we were doing ok at the hostel. She also provided a transfer service (200 MXN) if we needed a ride to any nearby destination (e.g. the Adventure Park) from the hostel and back. Despite my poor Spanish, Alejandra was also patient in communicating with me. During our third day of our stay, the main water tank at the hostel ran out of water, but Alejandra got her father to come down after work to help pump the water from the storage tank to the main water tank. Her dad also stayed around the hostel till late to made sure that the water supply was all ok before he went back home, despite us telling him that the water supply was back to normal. The location of the hostel is a little far back from the main road running through Areponapuchi (the Google Maps location is accurate), but that makes the entire place all the more "tranquilo". I can still remember the sound of birds chirping in the trees beside the hostel's porch, and also catching sight of a wild rabbit more than once. There is a grocery shop (Abbarotes Bertha) about 500m from the hostel, that we relied on to prepare our meals using the shared kitchen facilities at the hostel. The hostel is also about 1.3km from the Posada Barrancas train station, where there is a nice trail to Hotel Mirador, from which we could hike a couple of trails around it with some nice scenic viewing points (you can refer to the routes on the Maps.me or AllTrails app).

United KingdomThe facilities are basic but all perfectly functional so no problems at all. There are a lot of stray dogs in and around the area that could be an issue if you are fearful at all!
This is early days for Carlos at Hostal Font’s. The house is a work in progress but Carlos ensured that there is everything you need for your stay while he has a programme of improvements to get it how he wants it down the line. The bed was super comfy and there was hot water in the basic but functional bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped for communal meals and it was fun cooking with another guest. Carlos ate with us and is a fun host. He ferried us around in his car (for a small cost) as it is about a 40 min walk into Divisadero itself. We did the fantastic sunrise trek that Carlos offers and it was unforgettably stunning. Plans for the future include making the house self sufficient with solar panels and composting toilets and we wish Carlos every success going forward,

FranceThe house is not insulated, very cold during winter, and Carlos sometimes left the doors open. Bathroom had no heating and the bedroom had a very small electric heater. Also, we found the price of the pick up from El Chepe train station to be very expensive.
We had a good time with Carlos and his dog Macario! The kitchen is well equiped! The beds are confortable. Carlos is friendly and take care of his guests! We had interesting conversations sharing our different cultures. It's a 10 minute walk to the grocery store. A few things could be better but overall a good stay, would recommend!

United StatesHouse does need repairs . Not very clean .
The house needs work, it is located far, 15 20 min walk to main road, good 45 mins to the top to see view , place is safe. The thing that needs to be addressed and is not mentioned properly in the ad, is that this can and probably will be a house that is shared w another couple. House has 3 bathrooms, 3 rooms and a large kitchen/tv room . I got lucky that no one rented the other rooms, I would have left if I had to share a house .

United KingdomThe accommodation is spacious, has a good sized kitchen and communal space with TV. It is a little remote being outside of the village/town but it's only a 10 minute walk to a fairly well-stocked store with fresh fruit and veg. and a 15 minute walk to the rim of the canyon and a beautiful panoramic path that leads to the telefericio in the park. However, this property is very poorly managed. This is the first low-score review I have ever written and I have been backpacking for years and stayed at many, many hostels throughout the world. When things go wrong the manager/owner needs to be proactive in sorting the problem - there were no staff at the property and seemingly no one who could help us locally as we had no contact from anyone. The water ran out on the first evening we arrived. We had no access to flushing toilets or ability to wash for 2 nights/days. We also had barely little drinking water provided. Two of the gas hob rings don't work and one was arguably dangerous as it exploded as we tried to light it. This was once we had obtained a working lighter from the restaurant down the road as the only one we were able to find in the property had run out of gas. Ability to communicate any issues was also hampered by there being no WiFi at the property (unsure why as most places within the village had it) and very intermittent phone signal. It was very cold but there was a small heater in the dorm and extra blankets were available. There was no information or guide provided with regards to the facilities at the property, the local area or tours available.

United KingdomThere was no one to manage the property. Consequently when things went wrong there was no one to help as the hostel is quite far from anything. There was no way to light the hob so we had to ask the restaurant on the road for a lighter. There was very little drinking water left for 3 people. No information left about the town or who to contact for tours/activities or how to use the appliances in the property. The water ran out all together. We couldn’t shower/wash up/flush the toilet/etc. We contacted the owner and he blamed someone else (not sure who) but he assured us there would be more arriving. It arrived as we left a day and a half later. If the owner goes away fine, but someone has to be contactable who is in the town.
The place was nice, had extra blankets and a well equipped kitchen. Lots of DVDs to watch and some games. Beds were comfortable and there were lockers.

MexicoHostal Font offers a unique experience in the area. Carlos, the owner, has a very comprehensive knowledge of the Barrancas. We did the sunset and sunrise trek guided by him and both of them were exceptional. The hostel itself is comfortable and it has all you could need (except wifi), including an equipped kitchen. As a hostel you have the opportunity to spend time with other travelers. We enjoyed the company of the other guests and Carlos. The house has a location that allows you to see the sky full of stars if you walk a few meters from the entrance. We booked the private room and we could enjoy the firm bed after a long day of walking. We would definitely book the property again.

United KingdomPlace is a little unfinished which we were aware of. We had the place to ourselves as Carlos wasn't around which was a shame as we were looking forward to the sunrise hike other reviews had mention. I think the price is too high to justify the place but everywhere around there seems to be because of location. The hot water handle in the shower gets very hot!
Location is good, walking distance to shop and local restaurant and you can walk to the adventure park in about 30/45 minutes. Kitchen facilities are available. The walks and adventure park are great.

NorwayNothing bad to say! Just be aware that there's no wifi and that cellphone reception is poor (at least with our provider, Telcel) - messages go through most of the time, but not much more than that.
We had a great time at Font's! Carlos, the host, is very friendly and helpful, and clearly cares about making sure his guests have a good time. The room was big and the bed had the most comfortable mattress we've slept on in Mexico. Kitchen was very well equipped and we got our own shelf in the fridge to keep things organized. There are friendly "community" dogs hanging out outside the house, which was a big plus as we really like dogs (they don't come in the house, for anyone who doesn't). Carlos also does tours and took us on a really nice tour to some nearby areas for a good price. All in all we can really recommend this hostel :)
