How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Only one of the 2 rooms had blinds. There was a swarm of bees in the breakfast area. One of my nights, there was no hot water.
Hello! 🌿 Thank you very much for sharing your experience; your feedback helps us improve every day. We’re very sorry that you didn’t have hot water one night. Please note that, due to our eco-friendly system, hot water can take approximately 8 minutes to arrive, but we will pay extra attention to avoid any inconvenience in the future. 💧 Regarding the bees, we understand your concern. Sometimes nature surprises us with these visitors 🐝, but we will be more attentive so they don’t interfere with our guests’ experience. I understand the new management is looking for staff. These guys are great, they really take care of you, but they can’t do everything all at once, all the time.

The place has seen better days. I realize maintaining a property in the jungle is probably challenging but I would not say it matches the photos on line. Beds were very hard. Dogs (which I realize they can not control) barked all night.
Thank you for your valuable feedback! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the chef’s hospitality, the breakfast, and the games available during your stay. We also appreciate your understanding of the unique challenges that come with maintaining a property in the heart of the jungle. We're sorry to hear that the beds didn’t meet your expectations and that the noise from the dogs impacted your rest. Verified reviewFriendly couple of guys looking after the place
It was very poor vfm. Although we knew that it was 30+km away from anywhere, even though initial location suggested it was was closer to Puerto Morelos, it really was isolated and a mistake of ours to choose this location. It was also extremely empty, with only 2 other people during our first night, it was dead! Breakfast was very poor vfm. Worst of all was the inaccurate description and photos of the place. Maybe 20+ years ago, it may have looked like the photos, but it was very dated, a tired, run-down place. We certainly didn't fancy swimming in the dirty pool and facilities generally were run fin. To be near us, our son and daughter in law stayed 10km closer to town in a place less than half the cost of ours and twice as nice. I read that the French owner was the chef, but this wasn't the case, the snacks available were uninspiring and we never did see the owners. We'd never stay here again and wouldn't recommend it.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We sincerely regret that your stay did not meet your expectations. At Jolie Jungle, we are continuously working to improve and offer an authentic space in the heart of nature, but we understand that our rustic and remote setting may not be to everyone’s taste. We truly appreciate your feedback regarding the value for money, the condition of the facilities, and the accuracy of the photos. We are currently undergoing renovations and upgrades to better align what we present with the real experience we offer. We will also work on being clearer about our location, as we understand how important that is for travel planning. We’re sorry that the breakfast and snack options did not meet your expectations. We’ll share your observations with our team to make the necessary improvements. Thank you again for your feedback, and we’re sorry we weren’t able to provide the experience you were hoping for.

The complimentary breakfast was a communal plate of fruit and one piece of dry cold toast per person. Road noise and barking dogs at night. Pool was empty and no wildlife or birds.
Jennifer, Thank you for your feedback, and we sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered. We understand that the road noise and barking dogs can be disruptive, but unfortunately, these are factors beyond our control. As for the wildlife and bird activity, we wish we could guarantee sightings, but that can vary depending on the time of year. We also apologize for the breakfast not meeting your expectations, and we will certainly review it to ensure a better experience in the future. We hope to welcome you again for a more peaceful and enjoyable stay.

Verified reviewIt’s a nice stay in the middle of the jungle for a few nights. Staff is so nice, it gives a good jungle experience and is close (car needed) to a lot of cenotes. Top up you breakfast with some eggs, it’s really worth it!
Not the “fault” of the hotel: some spiders and mosquitoes are your neighbours and room buddies. The veranda isn’t child safe.
Hi Melanie, Thank you for your comment! We're happy to hear that you enjoyed the jungle experience and the hospitality of our team. It's also great that you took advantage of the nearby cenotes and enjoyed the breakfast. We understand that being immersed in nature means some unexpected visitors like spiders and mosquitoes may be part of the environment, but we always do our best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We also appreciate your feedback about the terrace and will take it into account to improve safety. We hope to welcome you back soon for another jungle adventure!

Verified reviewThe hotel is set in the jungle, which has the potential to be an interesting experience. It is authentic, close to La Ruta de los cenotes. The staff were nice and accommodating.
The place is not well maintained. The villas are damp and lack maintenance as well. Because of the tall trees and vegetation around there is not enough sunlight and it is extremely humid. There is shortage of personnel, so the service in the restaurant is slow. On a couple of occasions it took two hours to get the food (from a basic menu, nothing special). Breakfast should start at 8 but at 8:30 we were still waiting for it (and it is very basic). For what the place is, it is well overpriced (we paid 470 euros for 2 nights in a family bungalow- 2 adults, 2 young children. We did not use the pool, but it did not look that clean (and was half full).
Dear Biliana, Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the unique jungle setting and our proximity to La Ruta de los Cenotes. Regarding your concerns: Pool: It’s cleaned daily, though the surrounding trees can cause it to get dirty quickly. Restaurant: I apologize for the delays; we were short-staffed that day, and service was slower than usual. Villas: The natural jungle setting does bring humidity, but we are working on improving maintenance for greater comfort. We appreciate your insights and will use them to enhance our services. We hope to welcome you again with a better experience. Best regards,

They are very understaffed and it takes too long to get any service. Breakfast alone took several hours! The staff is nice and trying to help you but they can’t keep up with the amount of guests and the orders. They need to add a lot more staff during the busy months. The facilities are old and need upgrades. We had heavy rains when we were there and the whole bungalow flooded and no one came to help us clean up.
Dear Nevyana Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the unique jungle setting and the proximity to the cenotes. I sincerely apologize for the delays in service during your stay. I wish there were more hiking trails, lookouts, etc. along the property. I love that it was in the jungle, but I had to do most of my birdwatching while standing in the middle of one of their roads. You can also only access WiFi from the Casa Club, not from the cottages that you sleep in.

Verified reviewBeautiful and tranquil place to stay. The wonderful owners will charm you to no end and will do almost anything to ensure you are comfortable. (Prime example: we casually mentioned we were headed to Puerto Morelos and they brought us a cooler and parasol, and had an excellent recommendation for a reasonable place along the beach.) There are billiards, ping pong, a natural water pool, hammocks and so much more available to guests.
It was very warm and the fans struggled to keep up with the heat. Our hosts did bring larger fans in on our second night. I imagine when we visit again, we will try for cooler months like October and November.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and felt well cared for by our team. Verified reviewThe hotel which is located in relatively unspoilt forest about 30 km West of Puerto Morelos on the Ruta de los Cenotes consists of a number of cpmfortable bungalows bulit in the Mayan style around a small swimming pool and a restaurant serving simple but tasty meals and drinks. This makes it an ideal base for exploring the nearby cenotes, the coast between Cancun and Tulum (including Cozumel) the Mayan sites of Coba and Chichen Itza. I was travelling alone on a birdwatching trip but the hoel was clearly popular with couples and families seeking to explore the Yucatan penninsular away from the resort areas. The complex is run by a lovely couple, she is Mexican and he is French, who are trilingual (French, Spanish & English) and for whom nothing is too much trouble. An added bonus for me was that the grounds of the hotel turned out to be very good for birdwatching with a nice range of resident species and winter visitors from North America.
Thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful review, Nick! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed our location nestled in the relatively untouched forest along the Ruta de los Cenotes. It’s wonderful that our Maya-style bungalows, pool, and simple yet tasty restaurant made a comfortable base for your birdwatching trip and your explorations of the Yucatán Peninsula. We’re especially happy to know that the birdwatching opportunities here met your expectations, and that you appreciated the multilingual hospitality from our team. It was a pleasure to host you, and we hope to welcome you back for another peaceful and nature-filled stay soon. Safe travels and warm regards, Jolie Jungle Team
