How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWell, in the end, nothing really.
There are a lot of things to fix and improve. If not all. Things are just falling apart. And what's with the moldy TV with a broken screen? Benches, Tables also half broken. For a night, you'll survive, but for a long stay, it would be a problem. The place is dissolving and no one is really fixing it. Beds don't have walls. Or shelves. Or even hooks. Things are falling down on me all the time. My Pillow falls all the time, so I moved a bit down. Now my feet are outside and Mosquitoes eat them. I slept in a weird position just to keep the pillow under my head. Back pain all the time, which ironically kept me in bed. The pain stayed for 2 more days after I left. The bed light is right in your eyes. Whomever designed those beds is a sadist. It's more of a wild jungle camping. Scorpions, mosquitoes and raccoons. No hot water. Anywhere. Not kidding. I'm not into that much "natural" living. There is a reason why we don't live in caves anymore. This is how homeless people live on the street. Jomeless shelter would be better! Now being in a normal hostel, I'm just...wow. Che or Tribu are absolutely better.
Hi , I was was waiting for your bad commentary anyway … what to say , to a comment full of hate, you know well than i made everything my self here as I told you , so you are saying i am autist ? And if i really was ? Is this that bad ? No one complained before about everything you said , and it’s for a reason , it’s full of lie , how can be the bed with out walls ? The bed and the hostal are exactly as on the pictures … The only true thing is that we do no have hoy water , well , its 30 degrees here … Anyway , you should be carefull what you say , its really bad to speak like this about sick o homeless people , Oh , about my wife , she s reciently prégnant , so that’s true too , she was not feeling good …

Verified reviewReally enjoyed my stay at Kin, and even extended my stay by 3 nights to spend a week there. The tent I stayed in was perfect - comfortable for sleeping, with a fan, light and plug socket. They also have mosquito nets. The area is peaceful which allowed for great sleeping. All of the hostel staff and volunteers are very kind and work really hard to ensure the place is always really clean. Would highly recommend staying here when in Holbox!

Verified reviewAmazing place to stay, relax, and meet other travelers. There were clear rules for the hostel and dorms that everybody followed, which made the nights very peaceful. There was a well equipped kitchen with a fridge and dry storage to leave your food. There are multiple comfy hangout spots with hammocks around, so you can choose whether you want to relax or chat a bit with other people in the hostel. Also, I loved the location, which looks on the map like it is a bit further from the main square, but there are still some shops, taquerias, and fruterias nearby, the neighbourhood is less touristy and more quiet and honestly, you can't not enjoy the walks around the island, so a couple minutes more won't matter that much I think. When I arrived at this hostel the plan was to stay for only a couple of days and I stayed for 10 days, because I had such a great time and I definitely wasn't the only one feeling that way.

Verified reviewSpotless facilities, cosy hammocks, cheeky raccoons and great staff - I've never seen anyone cleaning with so much dedication (italian mum standards 🤣) Chilled and super relaxing but plenty of opportunities to socialise if you want to. An extra star for the free coffee in the morning!

Verified reviewEnjoyed my 1+ month stay in tent. Fresh and natural feeling. Quiet at night but easily walkable to town and other locations. Bed could be more comfortable and spaces are tight but good value for holbox. Friendly people, nice vibes

Verified reviewNormally we don’t stay at hostels or camping during our vacation but this one we were looking forward to, Damian was really helpful and made some great recomendations around the island. The place was great and peaceful, no party or loud noises so it was perfect for us. It was just too hot even with the ventilator so this is something you gotta have in mind.

Verified reviewVery cosy tent! I slept very well there even though there's racoons running around at night so don't get scared xD There's nice area just to chill or socialise with others. The staff was friendly. I didn't feel unsafe in my little tent as a solo traveller so all good.

Verified reviewFor me, this place was the perfect place to stay at on Holbox. It's an easy walk from the center, but far enough to be super quiet and peaceful. It's small but social, easy going, clean, very friendly people working here and the tents were comfortable. I liked the common area, perfect to chill in a hammock or have a chat with the other guests. The kitchen was well organized too. Just around the corner is a little market where you can buy fresh fruits and food, also a nice alternative from all the restaurants in the center.
There was nothing I didn't like.

Verified reviewSuper comfortable for camping! The mattresses in the tents were nice, and there were power outlets and a light inside as well. The whole area, especially the kitchen and bathrooms, were exceptionally clean. A tiny bit out of the way, but still very close and walkable to the beach and the town center.
Bring mosquito spray, but that's for the whole island. The tents have mosquito nets, so no problems sleeping
