Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

PortugalThe facilities (room, bathroom, toilet) are very basic.
If you're looking for a truly authentic experience – this is the place for you. The room is located in the family’s courtyard, where you’ll smell the fire used by the mother to make tortillas, hear the sound of the loom throughout the day, and be surrounded by Mexican music and the calls of roosters – this will be the soundtrack of your vacation. You’ll also get to see the stunning rugs being woven right before your eyes. The family is especially warm and lovely. The house is just a short walk uphill from the village center. The village is beautiful, peaceful, and safe. Highly recommended: climb Picacho mountain, explore the area by walking, and Tlacolula market on Sunday.

United StatesAna María and her family make you feel at home, comfortable and welcomed with open arms. They offer breakfast and dinner as well as a number of different classes in cooking and rug making. The bnb is walking distance to the local market with fresh pastries, fruits, meats and delicious cacao drinks. The neighbors are kind and accommodating. All in all, it was a perfect experience:)

United StatesThe roosters call in the night and you can hear the neighborhood dogs sometimes at night. But with earplugs it was fine.
This family was incredibly welcoming, generous, and accommodating! I quickly felt part of the family and they were also very respectful of my private space and time. I did a cacao and weaving workshop. Both were incredible! They were so so patient with me learning to weave patterns which took me much longer than I anticipated!! I am also learning Spanish and they were very patient and kind as I practiced and very helpful in correcting me. I ate most of my meals with them and Anna's cooking is very delicious! I am a vegetarian and she had no problems accommodating that. The space was very calm and relaxing. I enjoyed waking up to their music while they worked on the loom. They weave most of the day so you will always have a chance to watch and see how they do it. The town of Teotitlan I also loved very much. It is small and quiet and beautiful. It is a short walk into town, maybe 5 minutes or so. Everyone is very very kind! I wish I did not have to leave and do plan to come again in the future! I cannot recommend this place enough!

United StatesWalking to the house from the zocalo is quite steep.
The 3 generation family was truly wonderful. We had enuf privacy but also felt part of things. It was perfect. If you want to experience zapotecan life, this is where to do it. For an additional reasonable cost, we had wonderful traditional breakfasts (including grasshoppers) with almost everything home grown and organic. We watched them weave, took a dying workshop, saw primary school kids learn how to put feathers on headdresses. All great.

FranceWe really felt like a home stay, a room in a part of the family home, with 3 generations and the weaving looms in the same area The bed was comfortable and we slept very well! Shower was hot (after running a little while) and toilet are basic and shared, but fine. Our hosts made us feel so welcome, they did everything to smooth our travels and the food they cooked was wholesome and homely. The roads in village are a bit bumpy if coming by rental car, but nothing different to out of town mexican roads! Big thank you to Ana and Carlos!

United StatesSimple room, but with a very nice family. Shared the bathroom with some of the family it seemed. It was interesting to witness daily life here and see people working on the looms. They offer different workshops that you pay for. I did the tortilla making workshop. I also bought 2 of their beautiful tepetes (hand-made rugs).

CanadaOnly a minor observation - which is that there were no mosquito screens on the window/door. It is not common locally to have them and we knew this before we came, but it made falling asleep a bit difficult one of the nights
It was a unique experience with a local family that was super fun, accommodating, warm and welcoming. The food was exceptional. We did a cooking workshop that was super fun and educating. We would come again in a heartbeat

United StatesThe property is being improved and expanded and road is being worked on so there were some works in process during our stay, but this will likely result in improved access and facilities for future guests.
We had such a nice time staying at Lizu. My 6 yr old daughter especially liked visiting with the turkeys and playing with the youngest of the family (and another is on the way!) The family invited us to join them for the fair in the town - there were fireworks, kids rides, performances, snacks. We also took their workshop on natural dying of wool and were given a demo of their looms. We enjoyed our weekend so much that my daughter was very sad to leave.

Hospitality of the host and his family, Unique and different experience Comfortable bed The workshop that was offered by the family to give a glimpse into their daily life and the zapotec culture Host and family went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. They arranged my transportation and tried in the best of their ability to offer the workshops or any other desire I had to explore in short notice. I also got the opportunity to visit a candle making process from their aunt. They also accomodated another night of stay as the weather got pretty rainy. I would definitely recommend this stay and workshops to anyone wanting to have an authentic zapotec experience in the village Bringing back lots of memories

United KingdomProperly and stay was perfect for me. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The roads can be a bit tricky with Google Maps, not the fault of the hosts, so ask for extra directions if you’re not sure.
The room had everything I needed to relax and chill out for a couple of days. The private seating areas had a lovely hammock to laze about and was a comfortable spot to read and write. I immediately felt welcomed with genuine warmth by all the family members, was able to observe their work and offered recommendations of places to visit. The Casa is a short walk to the main plaza for shops and restaurants. Dinner and breakfast were available when I didn’t want to go out. I loved learning about the designs of the textiles, being able to observe the work and understand the different stages. Wonderful stay!

I loved the experience of living with a family of artisans, experiencing their way of life. This is a home stay experience. the tapestries are made on site. the family lives a simple life with all of the modern comforts. This is not a hotel and should not be judged based on amenities offered which there are plenty - electricity, hot water, good internet.
