How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewStaff and the service were excellent. The rooms were very nice. Turtle nests on the beach were an unexpected bonus. One of the nests hatched while we were having dinner and we got to see small baby turtles take their first steps to the water. Just brilliant!
The beach was unusable because of the glut of seaweed. Even though folks tried to clean up every morning, the sea just kept dumping more seaweed by the hour. We were told that there is some seaweed every year, but this year was really bad (comparable to a few years ago when there were mounds of seaweed all over the beach). Must be something to do with warmer waters.

Verified reviewAs a solo traveler, I had the most perfect four day stay at Lula. The amenities, the room, the attention to details, the beautiful beach, and great restaurant made the stay unforgettable. I will definitely come back. Coffee station in the room and tea service at night were such a nice touch. Nice and quiet, with exceptionally good staff that was attentive and took care of the guests. Definitely recommend!

Verified reviewThe staff is very attentive and friendly. Great hotel location away from major party places and noise, yet close enough to walk. Beautiful hotel surroundings and beach. We had an amazing aperol sunset hour at their spa rooftop. For our honeymoon the hotel did many small and kind gestures making us feel truly special and welcoming. Highly recomend to stay at Lula!

Verified reviewThe room was very clean with all details you would expect from a high-end boutique hotel: enough towels, sun hat, coffee machine, box spring bed, good airco en wifi, and more. The biggest surprise was actually the restaurant and staff with really good food, better than next door, which was actually recommended...
The pool is small and a bit hidden across the street

Verified reviewBeautiful location, large, comfortable rooms, very friendly staff (so helpful, quick to respond and communicative), amazing beach views. Beach was quiet, safe, stunning (must look amazing out of seaweed season!). Area felt safe with many restaurants nearby. Rooms kept very clean, filtered water, coffee etc replenished every day, biscuits and tea brought to room every evening which was a nice touch.
All spa services/yoga classes etc were very expensive add ons so we were unable to fully experience what the hotel offers (same with the restaurant and bar). Also we visited in July and the seaweed was so terrible you couldn’t even swim in the sea. The hotel does not have a pool so we could not swim at all the week we were there (and staying on the beach we had been hoping to..!)

Verified reviewAmazing in all ways. I debated nearby properties for a LONG time. Let me save you time-- book with Lula. Great rooms, great beach set up, attentive staff (but not intrusive!) the best views from the restaurant (unlike anywhere nearby), and close to whatever else you could want. Highly recommend tequila/mezcal tastings and taco Thursday at the La Zebra (sister hotel) next door as well. Also for us, the Jungle Suit at the back of the property was perfect and better than the beach bungalows. More private, close to the pool, quiet, and a 1 min walk across the road to the buzz of the beach.
This isn't really about Lula, but the seaweed was a sad addition to the beach views (we knew it was the season). Expected bugs, recommend bringing legit bug spray during the rainy season. But truly, nothing about Lula disappointed.

The staff in the front doesn’t know you for much a small property. I asked to register for classes 3x and it was the same people and they kept asking me if I was staying there. They need better attention to detail. A complimentary class would be a nice suggestion. I asked for the 5 class pass and they said this was for “locals only” so I played double or triple what the locals pay. I don’t think that is fair. Restaurant is ridiculously expensive. Drinks and food cost a premium. For your 2x1 Aperol Spritz- they did not taste right- always flat. Went down the street and enjoyed one with bubbles- the way it is supposed to be. Pillows are not comfortable- too heavy. Otherwise room was very comfortable.
