Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyI would have liked to see more atmosphere but I understand it was low season. Curious to see if any big party in the high season, must be great
Perfect mix between hotel comfort and hostel activities. Atmosphere a bit off as we went in August (low season), nevertheless there was some live DJ and people around both nights we stayed at Monkey’s. Position is ok, 20 mins walking from the centre and 5 mins car to the zona hotelera. Private rooms are same level of an hotel. Good quality price overall

Amazing hostel with all the comforts of a hotel! We stayed in a private room that was spacious and far beyond what we expected — bigger than most hotel rooms! Everything was spotless, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was always lively with great parties. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making the whole experience even better. One of the best hostels we’ve ever stayed at!

AustriaA bit on the expensive side (beside the cost for the night). But that's Tulum to be fair.

HungaryIt's a modern hostel with good vibes, a nice terrace with pool, good facilities, strong AC in the room. The breakfast was also nice (but a bit small for me). They organized a game for the guests at the bar which was good to bring ppl together. I recommend this place.

CanadaThe hostel is fantastic! I booked an 8-bed room, but there's plenty of space, so it never feels crowded. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, perfect for meeting other travelers. The breakfast was delicious, with a great variety of options to start the day right. The common areas are clean and well-maintained, and the staff is super helpful and welcoming. Overall, it’s been a really enjoyable stay — I’d definitely come back

United KingdomAs mentioned the kitchen could be improved with the addition of a kettle and water dispenser.
This hostel was a really pleasant surprise. It is a huge property and feels more like a hotel. It is designed beautifully. I stayed in a dorm with 12 beds which sounds a lot but it was designed so well with 2 runs of 6 beds, extremely comfortable and large spaces for each bed. The separation of the two sections due to the design of the large room means it only feels like you are in a 6 bed dorm. There was free yoga every morning at 8 and 10 which was fantastic and in a beautiful communal area. Kitchen are was adequate with fridges and equipment. This perhaps could be improved. A kettle would be good as would a proper dispenser for the water which is provided free but difficult to negotiate the very large water bottles for refills! The bar area and pool are lovely. I didn't eat there as I was self-catering but there seemed to be an extensive menu. There were also free activities each night e.g. cocktail class with a free drink which was nice. The location is a little out of the way but close to the road to the beach and to Chedraui supermarket and also the Collectivo stop to the beach (the cheapest way to get to the beach from here)

CanadaMayan Monkey Tulum is amazing—great vibe, comfy beds, and perfect location. The staff is friendly, and the bikes + daily activities make it a top pick. My only complaint? The $3-5 ‘cleaning fee’ feels unnecessary (and adds up over priced food and drink bar Manu). But overall, still one of the best hostels in Tulum!
The place is really amazing and Social Vibe & Activities** – The hostel’s energy is infectious! With nightly parties, yoga classes (6 days a week), and group chats to keep everyone updated on events, it’s impossible not to make friends. The poolside bar and communal spaces are ideal for mingling

CanadaDoor shock absorber was broken, the maintenance guy come see it but it was not a problem, but when people lets the door close, it was as if he was slamming it. No toilet paper at the morning. Outdoor toilet door not locking and the other hard to close + Toilet paper inaccessible in the other one. The Chichen Itza tour was not the price announced at first (32US), I did't check the paper correctly because I was last minute, in the bus the additional charge was +60US + some fees at the Cenote) The tour was maybe to adapted to the clients of this hotel ? I feel obliged to spend money at the stores we visits
