Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Specifically, our room didn't have windows, even if for a 2 days stay it wasn't a big problem.
The location was close to all the interesting sites in Oaxaca city.

The continental free breakfast is only coffe or te with only some cokies in most of the hôtels you have coffe and te for free but the fact they said is a continental breakfast is not correct

The hotel should not advertise they provide complementary breakfast. They just provide morning tea/ coffee with biscuits.
We liked our week-long stay. We were in Oaxaca for a conference.

The view looks into the roof of the bottom floor and other windows. Perhaps putting some plants to make it less sad.

My stay at Hotel Mayis was lovely. The location is excellent—everything you need is within walking distance or just a short taxi ride away. The air conditioning was a lifesaver after long days in the Oaxacan heat, and the staff was incredibly attentive and helpful throughout my stay. A solid choice for a comfortable and well-situated stay in the city.

Room wasn't ready on check in (well after check in time) but didn't have to wait too long. The linen needs to be changed to use fitted sheets on the bed, by morning the sheets come off the bed which is not comfortable.

This is a small hotel right on the downtown area. Walking distance to zocalo and markets. Very clean and it has parking inside the facility. Staff was good. Bathroom is a little small but very well equipped.

No real place to hangout there at the end of the day if that's what you're looking for, my room didn't have any windows, could hear everything from the hallway/adjacent rooms but could throw in some ear plugs, or it was pretty quiet late anyways

The place is well cleaned, Very closed to many restaurants and the staff are really nice. We were able to get a tour van to Monte Albán by getting some help from the receptionist.

It has everything you need, but it is no frills. I don't believe there was a breakfast included or anything extra, at all, other than towels and soap. But for the price, you shouldn't expect anything like that. There is no restaurant attached, but there are plenty of restaurants on the very street and the coffee options nearby are all exceptional in quality of the coffee and also in their locations. I could spend all day at their coffee houses that are within a block or two. Highly recommend the San Pablo coffee house for its architecture alone. It is basically just a clean, safe place to sleep.
The hotel is very centrally located near everything in the city, and yet, at night, it was surprisingly quiet. (During the day, it can be noisy, but I was usually getting ready to sight-see, so it day-time noise didn't bother me.) It was also very clean. It has everything you need; a private bath with a warm shower and small room with working Wi-Fi and television. No complaints whatsoever. The price makes it a tremendous bargain. I will probably stay here again on my next trip.

Extremely noisy - you can hear anything coming from the other room. On top, the room has a corridor to a living room which has no windows and direct exposure to a city parking which is noisy all night long The room was ridiculously small and did not have any window Mattress is awful

We chose the hotel in part because it included a continental breakfast. The breakfast was just biscuits and tea and coffee. Not really a breakfast. When we arrived we were given a very small room, far smaller than was listed on the website. They changed us after the first night and the second room was much better.
The staff were great and the place was very clean.
