Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesYou can not smoke in or nearby the hotel as it is in the National Park. You need to exit the park ~ 3-5 minutes by car or 15-20 minutes walking.
I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel! From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. The restaurant was a highlight of my trip—the food was simply superb, full of flavor and beautifully presented. The waiters were attentive, friendly, and genuinely made each meal a memorable experience—special thanks to Alberto for his outstanding service and warm personality. The room service was prompt and excellent, and the facilities were spotless and well-maintained throughout my stay. Everything about this hotel radiates professionalism, comfort, and care for the guests. I would happily return and recommend it to anyone looking for a truly top-notch experience.

United KingdomThe prices for the drinks seemed unnecessarily expensive, Mezcal with the same brand was twice as expensive as in Mexico City and Merida. Also the drinks making does not match the high standards of the kitchen. They should take a few lessons from the bar staff in the sister hotel - Mezzanine - who made much better cocktails
The hotel is quiet, well run and well equipped. Many rooms have a spa bath outside, there are plenty of sun shelters overlooking a beautiful view of the sea and coastline. The food is not cheap ( the most expensive that we had in Mexico) however it was superb and worth every penny. The ‘smash burger’ was seriously the best burger I ever ate! The housekeeping staff were exceptional, and particular thanks to Felipe who went above and beyond the call of duty. Also thanks to Miriam and Tania on reception who helped with everything else.

United StatesWe had one kink in our stay that left a bad taste after a very good and expensive meal. We were promised cocktails on the house… to resolve an issue we had with their sister hotel/restaurant where we had also spent a small fortune the evening before…. We chose 4 simple bottles of cold beer and two cocktails “on the house” but found them all back on our tab at the end of the evening as they were not the “correct” “house cocktails” … that when you have had every breakfast, lunch and dinner with alcohol at the hotel and just spent $500+USD $$ on the last dinner is not funny, it’s bad service. At a place like this that claims personal attention and service you don’t want to hear “our protocol is” for peet sake it’s not about the money, the beers a cheaper! it’s about the feeling and service it’s the reason you chose small boutique and are ok with other little things not being perfect and/or streamlined. As a client you just don’t ever want a discussion least of all late at night after an expensive dinner x6 in front of your dining partners. it makes you feel cheated and used for your credit card. A feeling we did not have anywhere else in all of our 14 days road-tripping through the country (in much more remote humble less touristy areas). Not an excuse or word of sorry or a personal gesture was said or done when we checked out either. … We left a sad. A piece of chocolate could have made up.
Gorgeous hidden spot that is perched high on the rock so from your comfortable cabanas you have the views and sound of the beautiful ocean but not the smell of the sargassum. Yess the sargassum is a real problem along this coast, and yess is smells an no you cannot swim in these thick packs of brown muck. We picked this hotel precisely because it did not have a beach. The rocks ensure the weeds stay submerged then they don’t smell or what lands on the rocks dries quickly and does not smell. You do get wonderful big seabirds fishing. The hotel has a wonderful pool, big enough to swim laps and crisp clean fresh water overlooking the ocean. The hotel is adults only, we traveled with our 4 young-adult children and are glad to be out of the screaming splashing age group (for a while) we were looking for peace, quiet, relaxation and some authenticity along a pretty overcrowded party-themed coast. The hotel did meet this. We however missed the memo of it’s erotic theme…. It was threaded through everything. You can imagine we had a good laugh being Dutch parents. I guess it depends on the behavior of other guests if the thin line between romantic erotic and vulgarity is crossed. When we were there other guests were discrete and private and all enjoyed the beautiful spot in the nature reserve. The hotel provided the arm bands (120mx$) as needed for access to every nature reserve on the Yucatan peninsula. So that complaint from other reviews is resolved. This i find thoughtful and unique as we paid it x6 in every other hotel we stayed w/in bioreserves. The hotel was thoughtful in providing plenty of free potable water in glass jugs in the rooms and at the breakfast/lunch/dining table. Something i find a must in warm climates. The restaurant has an excellent chef providing tasteful and beautiful dishes. The layout and design of the hotel are low key relaxed. The room have a retro bohemian theme but have excellent beds, pillows and crispy cold airconditioning.

United StatesNo major complaints. Would definitely recommend the hotel to others. Minor things: The hotel restaurant food was good but there were no plant based options for dinner. We would have loved to have at least one dish on the menu so we didn’t have to go out every night. The shower in our room just barely trickled water (no pressure). The shower head was a large rain head shower but only maybe 6 of the 20+ holes dripped water. I think maybe it just needs replaced. I didn’t mention it to the staff because the water (after several minutes) was nice and I know it’s an eco hotel so I didn’t want to complain over something minor. I still was able to shower and clean my long curly thick hair - the water is nice so it helped! The remote location is what we wanted but note to others - unfortunately the taxi rides are $400-450 pesos each way for a 10 min ride into downtown Tulum. This is a lot more expensive than any other place we’ve visited in Mexico. There’s no parking in the park, so you can’t rent a scooter or car. If the park or town offered a dedicated shuttle or bus into town for hotel guests (even for a fee) it would be a huge benefit. But this isn’t the hotel fault - Just something to be mindful of and plan accordingly. Don’t let it stop you from going! It’s a nice hotel and nice staff.
Small boutique feel. It is located in the park, so it’s quiet and has a secluded feel. The front desk staff were incredibly kind and helpful. The welcome drink, Aperol Sunset was delicious! We eat plant based/ vegan & enjoyed the crispy cabbage tacos, coconut white tostada, cucumber salad, avocado toast, and they were kind enough to prepare the chilaquiles vegan for us (sooo good)!

SwitzerlandOne thing I didn’t love was that the hotel is located inside the protected park area, which comes with a lot of restrictions (like limited access by car, strict rules, etc.). However, being in that zone also made it feel very safe and well-preserved, which I appreciated in the end.
I had a wonderful stay at this hotel in Tulum. I absolutely loved the boho-chic style and natural design — it really captures the essence of the area. Everything felt carefully curated, from the decor to the outdoor spaces.

United StatesVery few things: (1) the mattress in the room was not super comfortable - I'd expect more for a 4-star hotel, (2) the food in the restaurant was decent, but overpriced. But that's not just this hotel, that's all of Tulum. The food in Tulum on the beach is a bad value: overpriced for what you get.
I stayed for 2 days and had an amazing time at this hotel. I also got a great deal at ~$125 per night, which felt like a steal for Tulum and this beachfront location. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. I didn't want to leave its grounds. The cabanas were lovely and I spent a lot of time just chilling in them, watching and listening to the sound of the ocean. The staff were lovely, too. The room was small, but clean with little touches. The bathroom was quite nice. overall, this place felt like a luxurious oasis. If I were to come back to Tulum (which I would not because it's an unpleasant scammy place that feeds off scamming tourists left and right), I would definitely stay in this hotel!

GermanyAn additional 415 Mexican pesos per person was required to enter Jaguar Park.(in March 2025)Once inside, everything was cleanly organized, free golf carts were provided, and it wasn’t crowded, which was nice. However, the entrance fee has recently increased several times, making it feel unreasonably expensive. To avoid confusion, it would be better to include it in the hotel price altogether. When I was in the room, it was bothersome because the stairs creaked loudly whenever other guests went up them.
The accommodation was beautifully decorated, and the dining area, Ocean area, pool, and lobby were also very fancily adorned. It was great to be able to use the pools at nearby sister hotels that are part of the SLH membership. The reception staff were very professional and friendly.

United StatesWe loved the hotel, but the bed was too soft for my husband. It was nice being in the park, which is why I picked it. But I did end up wishing we were closer to the downtown area of Tulum.
We could use the facilities of the sister hotels, so we ended up enjoying three hotels out of this one stay!

ItalyThe only two shortcoming of the hotel is that there is no parking and no access to the beach . Both are available at a sister hotel 500/600 meters far. Only solution is walking. I believe they should have a golf cart shuttling clients back and forth. Few clients and so few trips. With that the hotel would be perfect.
Excellent hotel. Very well managed. Fancy. When we booked the only room available was the entry level. Next time I would book a better room; well worth the difference of cost.
