Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe don’t have any real complaints. We stayed in the Vanilla room and only thing we didn’t love was that there was foot traffic next to the window which meant you had to have most of the shades closed if you wanted privacy. But this was very minor as we had also had a really nice private area with plunge pool on the roof.
This spot is right in the thick of tulum beach scene, but we were able to avoid all of the clubby vibes when we felt like relaxing. Their beach “club” is really comfortable, charming and not crowded which we loved, and the section of the beach is excellent for swimming. The staff was super kind and made sure we felt comfortable and had what we needed - special shout out to Manuel who was a great server. Also, everything on the beach is really expensive, which didn’t sting so much because the food was AMAZING. The Aguachile was to die for and the fish tacos were also incredible - everything else we saw come out also looked delicious and very thoughtful. Kudos to the kitchen staff!

Dominican RepublicToo expensive relative to what it offers. They even charge you for in-room machine coffee. The only free thing is water, but no plastic bottles, they have a glass bottle to refill it at the bar.
Hot water and the Air Conditioner. Even if these amenities seem common to you, these things are luxuries on Tulum beach zone.

United StatesWish there was a TV or some more entertainment, but understandable as this is supposed to be a beach getaway. Toiletries were strange, oily with a weird smell. The only other annoying thing was having to take my bags through the path/boards on the sand, but I get the hotel was on the beach so it was to be expected.
Loved that the hotel was right on the beach! The hotel restaurant food and drinks were refreshing, delicious and affordable. The area was quiet and cute, perfect stay for a beach getaway. Location of the hotel was in the middle of all of the action in Tulum main strip. The room was a little small, but bed was comfortable and it did the trick for my two night stay.

CanadaThey are strict about having your own food and drink in the beach loungers, which was disappointing. We stayed at another beachfront hotel on the same trip and they had no such rule. Tulum is expensive so it was nice to be able to bring some beers and snacks from the market rather than paying restaurant prices all the time. I feel as a guest I shouldn't be restricted. Maybe for day pass visitors, where the hotel/restaurant is trying to make money but otherwise, thumbs down on that policy.

United KingdomThe smell of the toilet was pretty bad during our stay, with cold showers and low water pressure. Additionally, our room had a private jacuzzi pool on the roof terrace however the water pumps didn’t work
The rooms and design of property was nice, rooms spacious with lovely bed. The staff at front desk and restaurant were very friendly, the barman needs to work on his customer service skills and smile at least

United KingdomWe weren’t told construction was happening during our stay - loud banging, drilling & power sanding could be heard all the way down to the beach (3/9 day I stayed there whilst trying to relax over breakfast. Sewage issues were also a problem with smells coming into the room.

United KingdomUnfortunately Tulum has a very bad seaweed problem (we were there in Feb) which no hotel seemed to do much about to keep on top of including this one. It says it's adults only but the hotel allowed day passes some of which were families. No laundry service. Not sure it was very good value for money.
The location was amazing if you are after a beachside property and the food and cocktails in the restaurant was amazing - best margarita I had all holiday. Staff very helpful and friendly

United StatesI wish it was more affordable so I could come back every year lol. We split our stay between here and a more affordable option (Jade Tulum) and clearly Orchid was better. It's up to the consumer to decide what amenities they feel they would prefer. I wish I had an opportunity to use the outside plung tub but it was kinda dirty - I used the hammock a bunch tho!
Such an intimate and beautiful location, the complimentary breakfast made it easy to get our day started with a little something before we'd adventure Tulum. The price is high because this location is prime, as it's on the beach and close to many popular restaurants- BTW, check out Ukami, best restaurant in Tulum beach.

This beautiful boho beach house was amazing! Newly renovated and stylish. The hotel is small which is just what we like and walking distance from other beach clubs that play loud music and have parties. This one is nice and low key. We had an incredible room with a pool. Walking distance to the GoMart and other stores and restaurants. Good parking area. Loved the menu at the restaurant and the continental breakfast which comes with the room. Great housekeeping. Loved the beach sun bed loungers.

CanadaThe room: The bedsheets and towels were always stained. The room also had a rotten egg smell for most of the week. The staff tried to convince us it was the environment but it was clearly obvious that it was coming from the sink. it gave us a headache and they didn't switch our room despite several complaints and request. We also found a mouse in the room and the nightguard helped us to kick it out, when we texted the receptionist about this he sent a laughing emoji. They said they would contact us after to see what kind of compensation we would get, and we never heard back.
the staff from the restaurant was great and friendly, beach was good, food was overpriced but delicious. everything else was terrible.

United KingdomI can't think of anything, During our stay, we had a minor issue with the lock on our room. We messaged reception, and it was fixed within a half hour. Great service.
This is a hidden gem in the Tulum hotel zone. It is centrally located with great access to shops, restaurants, and a variety of beach clubs, but also very (relatively) quite affordable. The rooms are thoughtfully decorated in a natural-material Tulum style and are very comfortable. The beach club has great food and cocktails. There is some music coming from it during the day, but they wrap up and are silent from 8:00pm. We are already planning our return.

GermanyBrassiere suite that we booked was definitely non-satisfactory. Floor was wet and there was a mold smell in the room. Moreover there were multipledead flies on the bed. Also, staff did not offer any help with our luggages during check-in. Normally I wouldn't complain about this but since it is a beach house, it was very hard to carry luggages on the sand and our room was on the second floor, which the hotel did not have any elavators for. Due to same reasons, this hotel wouldn't be a good fit or any disabled guests.
Staff definitely had good intentions. They gave us a free upgrade after our complaints about the first room they offered to us.
