The bed was quite hard and the pillows quite thin.

Great location in the centre but very quiet. Very friendly staff. Nice breakfast and purified water. Room was small but tidy. Great shower. Organised some quiet activities and you could book several tours with them.

Exceptional accommodation. I felt at home straight away. The staff was super nice and always available. The sanitarys and rooms were very clean. The breakfast was very tasty. You could have eggs the way you liked them with beans and then you could Take bread, marmelade, fruits how much you liked. The marmelade was homemade and delicious. The Garden was nice with different corners for relaxing. Roof top acces. (Nice place for yoga if have a mat. Tour bookings possible and better prize than some agencys. Activities with hostel staff like cooking classes available. Movie night was great.  And all for a really good price. I would come again any time.

Wonderful hostel! I stayed in a private room. Everything is very clean and the property tidy. The breakfast is simple, but delicious. The staff are very helpful in assisting with tours, things to do in San Cristobal, etc. Definitely recommend if you are planning a trip to San Cris!

The hostel is beautiful, staff are so nice and the included breakfast was very good! Our mattress was broken or sunken on one side so it was uncomfortable, but I don’t think that’s the case in every room. The bathrooms are very clean and so is the common kitchen.

It was very cold in my room at night, the guy at reception didn't look very happy to do his job but the ladies were nice, cleaning ladies were nice as well. Breakfast is a little bit chaotic and disorganised. I just felt like something is missing at this place. Didn't feel it xD it's in a very quiet location, a little bit further from the center, but there is nice restaurants around, very nice and cheap laundry place on the corner of the street and museum of cacao. Booked a tour to Chamula through the hostel and it was the highlight of my days in San Cristobal (very good one!) but I wouldn't recommend the tour to Canyons (I found this one boooring with lots of time in the bus and some stops in the shops). Soooo it was a good place to stay but not the best..

As a 77 yr. old single traveler and my 5th time at San Christobal, I hadn’t stayed in a hostel for 45 years. I had my very reasonably priced own bedroom here for the 6 nights I was here, 3 with attached bathroom and 3 with a shared bath. The kitchen was available to everyone, and the highlights of my trip were breakfast (included) and dinner time cooking and eating with my fellow travelers, and just hanging out. I guess all my time at Posada del Abuelito were my highlights, and was wonderful. The staff (everyone who worked here) was fantastic, nice, caring, concerned, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. When I left I felt like they were all family. There are nightly activities, and great tours are arranged with a local agency at a fair price. I cannot imagine a better place to stay. A short walk to the historic central city and outdoor restaurants but away from the chaos of the central hotels/hostels and pedestrian walkway.

My room did not have hot water. That would not have been so bad but when you have cold rooms and cold nights as you can imagine the water was very cold. Ok it's not the worst thing but worth knowing in advance.

The staff were super helpful.... especially at check in. I was allowed to check in early because my room was free. Also allowed to use the facilities as I had an evening bus. Everyone was very accommodating. Breakfast was good and the staff at breakfast were excellent!

Kitchen was often overcrowded which made it awkward to cook sometimes.

Wonderful chill atmosphere, many flowers and small corners to hide with a book. Nice common areas for a chat. We (me and my son) felt very at home and hope to be back sometime soon.
