How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe stayed at this hotel for five nights as two couples and had a wonderful experience overall. The service was excellent, the rooms were clean, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious every morning. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, which made our stay even more enjoyable.
One thing to note: the hotel is advertised as “adults only,” but we did see children during our stay. While they were well-behaved and didn’t disturb us, it was a bit surprising given the hotel’s description. If the adults-only environment is important to you, this might be something to consider.

Verified reviewLovely hotel, we had a really beautiful room. Staff were all really attentive and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. They also made us a breakfast to takeaway when we had to leave early. Filtered water was always available which we really appreciated. Beach club passes were a good perk too, mawimbi was lovely. Had wellies for us when it rained!
As there’s no bar in the hotel a fridge in the room would be helpful, there are lovely terraces that would be nice to enjoy a cold drink on.

Verified reviewSuper nice location (walking distance to the beach), beach passes included, amazing staff (Fabio and Sonia were super helpful), and very cozy rooms.
Maybe having a(n ideally smart) tv in the room would've been nice, but all was super nice!

Verified reviewWe have rescheduled our honeymoon trip in the very last minute and made a spontaneous reservation here. Luckily , it was the perfect choice. The hotel fulfilled 100% our expectations, the staff is amazingly helpful and on point, anytime we needed something. Rooms were cleaned properly, it smelled always fresh, the beds were comfortable and a lot of small details that counted our whole stay. The extra beach club pass made it all easier for us and we would say it was one on the best spots on the island! We will definitely come back one day!

Verified reviewWe loved everything about the hotel! The room was perfect - a large, comfortable bed and nicely decorated. There are several options for breakfast, all of which are delicious and served on a lovely terrace. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the beach and a 5 minute taxi from the port. The free guest passes at Mawimbi were a fantastic bonus, as this is a perfect spot for enjoying the beach.

Verified reviewThe room and hotel were lovely, clean, stylish, and comfortable. The bed was great and I appreciated the excellent shower products as well as the water machines for refilling bottles everywhere. The roof where we had breakfast was gorgeous and there is a stunning garden on the ground level. The hotel also had yoga mats to borrow which was a nice touch. Ultimately, the location is a good one in terms of balancing peace and quiet with accessibility, but we concluded after this trip - not because of anything about el corazon itself! - that being at a beachfront hotel was really worth it, especially because we found a beachfront hotel a bit further down the island that was just as nice for only $20 or so more a night. El corazon allows you beach club passes to go to Mawimbi's beach club each day, but in the end, nothing beats being able to run back to your room quickly or have breakfast beachfront if you like! The food and drink at Barquito, where you get a beach pass with the hotel, is excellent. Breakfast at the hotel was good, too.
Mawimbi beach club, which the hotel gives you access to, is beautiful and hip, but has the serious problem of not enough sun cover! They had no umbrellas or palapas, just shade attachments at the top of about half their loungers which don't shade the length of the chair nor do they adequately protect from midday sun. We ended up dragging a couple (quite heavy!) chairs ourselves to be under a palm tree and were OK that way, but I am not sure how some of the other patrons were surviving lol. There are two pretty well shaded daybeds but they were reserved with towels by eager hotel guests by 8am every morning when we arrived. We also think the price of the hotel was a bit high considering it was not beachfront, but it was a very nice hotel and Holbox prices in general are pretty high.

Verified reviewOur stay at El Corazón BH was nothing short of magical! From the moment we booked our trip until we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality. The staff and the owner went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable. Their attention to detail was truly remarkable, and the entire property was spotless. We were celebrating our honeymoon, and to our absolute delight, they had prepared the most thoughtful surprise for us! If you're looking for a place where you'll be treated like family and every detail is taken care of, look no further. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and will absolutely be returning! Thank you for an amazing experience! ❤️

Verified reviewLoved that the hotel was on a quiet street close to everything (beach, restaurants, etc.) and yet right next to the jungle - visible from the roof terrace over breakfast. I also loved the little touches, including having filtered water and a carafe available to save plastics and that the housekeeping staff decorated our rooms for Valentines Day. Though I was traveling solo without my partner, that made me feel special and included. The beach pass is also KEY - Mawimbi is wonderful, with great service. And aside for a small handful of beach chairs, as a guest not of their hotel, you still get your pick of beach chairs and the same level of service as guests do.
Honestly, I can’t name anything.

Verified reviewFrom the very first email, we could feel the love and care that went into making our stay special. The warm welcome set the tone for a truly wonderful experience, and the attention to detail was evident in everything—from the beautifully designed space to the thoughtful service of the entire team. The location is ideal, close enough to the beach and the heart of the island while still feeling like a tranquil retreat. One of the best parts was the hotel’s partnership with a stunning beach club, where we loved lounging in the sun or relaxing in the shade. Breakfast was a highlight, offering delicious and healthy options to start the day right. The atmosphere, both in our room and throughout the hotel, was peaceful and inviting—perfect for unwinding and soaking in the island’s beauty. El Corazon is more than just a hotel; it’s an experience filled with warmth, kindness, and a true island vibe.
