Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe night shows left us wanting more, definitely there is room for improvement, the mariachi show is good but on the land of the mariachi, it could be much better. The Michael Jackson show is outdated and the performance is ok, and finally the hotel should consider removing entirely the Diva show, very disappointing.
We liked the experience overall, great and friendly staff at all times. Facilities were excellent and clean and the beach area is really well organized, easy access to the water. The pianist, Felipe Mirafuentes, was fantastic!, one of our favourite times.

United StatesWhen booking this resort threw booking.com they offer a resort credit to book certain rooms. This is a false advertisement. I emailed the resort 2 separate times to ask what we would be using a credit on if its all-inclusive and was told the spa. I spent and xtra $800 on a ocean view to get a $800 credit on the spa and when there was told we can only get a discount of $30 off each massage. And the massages were anywhere from $120-$350 ea. Needless to say we were pissed that we spent an extra $800. No-way possible to use $800 credit on little discounts here and there. Not to mention we brought friends that did the same thing. 6 rooms total!!
the staff was amazing, the resort was super clean and the food we had was ok, it was hit and miss.

United States1. They need to change their cleaning solution because it smells up the whole lobby (and everywhere else). My first impression when we entered the pretty lobby was the smell. This was true in Costa Rica. PLEASE GET A BETTER CLEANING SOLUTION that doesn't smell of chemicals when you enter the building. 2. The bar staff was overly flirty with my 22 year old daughter, which made me uncomfortable. I know that she's an adult, but these were married men joking with her about wanting to leave their wives for her. (She is very pretty but she's very naive.) I felt that this was inappropriate, even though she tried to laugh it off. 3. I would like to see more gluten and dairy free dessert options for those with allergies. 4. The resort is very well taken care of, which is why I was surprised that some of the floor tiles in the hallway leading to our room were cracked and needed to be replaced. 5. The music goes until 11pm which is too late for guests who want to sleep and are near that area. I would suggest stopping at 10 or 10:30. 6. The driver who the hotel hired to take us to our airport hotel (for a flight the next day) was a terrible driver, who actually pulled over on the highway, terrifying us that we were going to get robbed or worse. (He said he had to take a picture of his odometer for his boss, but I didn't believe him.) Please screen your drivers better.
This is our second time at a Riu Palace resort-- the first time was a year ago in Costa Rica. We think the Riu Palace hotels are so wonderful, that we have just booked another for a year from now in Punta Cana. Here's the scoop: 1. The food and drink is excellent and everything is safe to eat because Riu has filtered water and high standards for safety, so you don't have to worry about getting sick (which is not true of other resorts). Also, our daughter has gluten and dairy allergies and was able to find lots of foods she could eat and enjoyed. There are multiple restaurants beyond the main buffet restaurant. We particularly liked the Japanese, although they have Mexican and Steakhouse, as well as Italian and fancy (which we didn't do because the menu wasn't what my kids-- age 22 and 19) wanted. 2. The resort is safe-- it is part of a group of hotels, some Riu and some not-- that is in a gated community that also includes some condos. Our cab driver said when he dropped us off that this is a safe place for tourists (since Mexico doesn't have the best reputation for how tourists are treated and it had been off our list as a place to re-visit for a while.) 3. It is a gorgeous location with views of the ocean from much of the resort and huge (and private) beach access with soft white sand and crystal light blue water. (When we were in Costa Rica, in contrast, the beach was shared by locals and the sand was hard and the sea dark-- not nearly as nice.) 4. The staff is great-- very helpful and almost everyone speaks some English. You can do events in the day or evening if you want, from water aerobics and dance by day to karaoke by night, and there are bands every night. Xmas eve was very special with elegant food preparation and table decor. I was blown away. 5.

ChileThe hotel should have a gift shop with the things that you buy when you forgot to take them like hats, sun cream etc. The food was plentiful but the quality was not outstanding even in the special restaurants, specially for the price of the holiday. We were a family and I wrote to the hotel many times asking them to have rooms in the same floor and eventually we managed a couple of days later but after a lot of talk with the front desk. What I did not like was that I was told that if I booked directly with the hotel they would be more flexible than booking through Booking.com
The location is great, the facilities also very good and the staff was very helpful. In summary a great place to go with your family for a nice holiday.

1) Right from the entry to the hotel, the facility was very clean and lively. The staff - starting from the doorman, front desk, all the restaurant staff, cleaning staff were very cheerful and hospitable. 2) Food was very clean, healthy, and tasty. All meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner had variety daily, including constant items that were very popular.

United StatesThe only thing I was slightly disappointed in was the view from our room. I had hoped to get a room closer to the pool area with a clear balcony as views are very important to me.
What stood out the most for us was the exceptional staff. They were extremely courteous, friendly and professional our entire 5 day visit. It seemed that they loved working for the Riu Hotel. Lourdes, who was mainly in Chilis, is worth her weight in gold. We frequented Chilis often because of her.

United KingdomDown sides were the food wasn't always la led correctly with allergens - which wasn't great as our son has anaphylaxis and allergies to foods like egg and dairy (ie the sorbet was labled as containing milk, but it didn't have milk, and we were assured it didn't- no flare up so I'd agree ot didn't contain milk!) The pool 🤒 both kids and I got a stomach bug 🐛, all ate different things, but all swallowed pool water the same day. The water tasted salty which can be a chemical imbalance, but could be lack of chlorine and end of season sweaty bodies, fluids and suncream build up....unsure but would definitely suggest for the pools to be tested more often for its chemical balance. Also wasn't great that the lifeguards...when they were there....we're on their phones...not watching the pool 😒.
Loved the aquaarobics with joe from other services and the MC during the day time around the pool every day- (who's name escapes me) Beds were very comfortable, staff were amazing, all inclusive really means all inclusive- spirits in your bedroom to coffee and cake all day and everything in between. A special shout to Mendez and his breakfast team as well as Radolpho the executive chef who was fantastic with my sons allergies and made sure he was accommodated for every time we ate. Josaline, Kim and the rest of the kids ents team were outstanding. Kids Club was great, 3 times a day of different activities . Food was great standard and drinks were not watered down- opposite in fact!! Location was out of this world. The VIEW 😲 .
