Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesI do sincerely wish we liked it more than we had, especially for such a great price per night. Although we initially booked the room for 2 weeks, we requested the second half of our stay be cancelled. The wifi & cell service in our room was so weak that simple webpages would not load, so we were unable to WFH. We ultimately moved our kitchen table and chairs outside to use our laptops and had much better luck with signal, but the mosquitos were ferocious even with repellent. You will need a small table/travel fan to be semi-comfortable if you do that, since there is no breeze. I think the humidity is just out of control at this location; no matter how long between showers, the floor of the shower stall would not drain and always felt slimy. The hotel room floor was similarly slimy/dirty... we ended up wearing our socks to avoid the nasty feeling on our feet, and then when our socks became gross, we resorted to wearing our sandals in-room. None of our scuba gear was able to dry (even if we hung it outside) so it started to mildew, and our backpacks and random items in our luggage grew mold even though they were placed in the corner and we weren't getting any of them wet. We've continued traveling for 2.5 months since this stay, and haven't experienced that anywhere else. We also did not receive any of the cleanings the hotel claims to offer every other day, but I imagine that would've helped significantly. We are ultimately very grateful they met our needs with cancellation mid-stay... That is customer service you can count on.
We came to work online and to scuba dive @ Banco Chinchorro. This was an affordable place to stay. The pool area is pretty and the vibe generally relaxed. The rooftop area is a relaxing place to hang out in the late evenings. Alexis, the hotel caretaker, was very helpful. While this is about a 25-minute walk into Mahahual either way (one of the paths is covered by trees and rather pleasant... plus there's a Dinousa grocery store and a fruiteria about 4 blocks into that walk!), there is a roundabout one block from the hotel where you can easily hail a cheap taxi if you're not up for the walk. Just make sure you ask them in Spanish otherwise they'll think you're from a cruise ship and charge you 2-3x the price. The hotel exhibited quality customer service when we brought up concerns about our stay. That counts for a lot.

United StatesThe hot tub on the top deck is not hot... no heater... and it's dirty... The hot plates are not grounded, so I got a shock from them several times while using them. The hotel electrical system is under repair and was flaky at times. I had to move my room once because of no electricity, but Alex was very responsive and got me in a new room immediately. Also, Workmen were in the area often.
Great staff. Very friendly, Very helpful. The internal Courtyard is beautiful. The beds were very comfortable. The shower was hot long enough to get a hot shower. The kitchen was functional, and I was able to cook a number of meals there. Adequate off-street parking just outside the gate to the hotel complex
